We returned again for our 42nd wedding anniversary. We were lucky to have Johanna as our server again. She is always polite and informative. Our 6 oz. filet dinners were cooked to perfection. We finished with a delicious slice of cheese cake Well done Stables and Johanna!
For a buffet the overall food was pretty good. Some of the items, such as rolls and desserts, were not kept filled as they should be. Had a reservation on Open Table 90 days out requesting a window seat if possible. Reservation was at 2:30, arrived at 2:15. Hostess stated they hope to have a table shortly. 30 min later when getting to our promised window table another hostess showed up saying that this table was for another group. Having waited this long I was not happy. Hostess and manager apologized and comp us drink. We were seated 5 min later in the other room. Was not what I was hoping for but it worked. After that all was fine
Everything about the experience was excellent— our service (from the time we walked into the restaurant to when we left), the food selections and preparation) the company!, the ambience (by the fire outdoors), all wonderful! The only negative was that mowing was occurring by the restaurant, which disrupted our conversation many times. Perhaps the mowing schedule could be better coordinated to not interfere with peak dining periods, especially on great weather days.
We have new neighbors and wanted to show them some great places to dine out. Stables was our first choice. There was 4 of us. . My husband had the Half Caesar and the Pork Schnitzel , I had the Pork Ribeye. Can't remember what the other couple shared, a Pork Schnitzel and ? Our server was Martha. What a beautiful person ! So attentive, sweet & friendly. Perfect service. Hope to be able to sit at one of her tables next time. Thank you for a very pleasant evening. David & Barbara-Ann Winter
While in Tubac, we decided on Stables for dinner one night. It did not disappoint. We loved the atmosphere, and waitstaff was friendly and attentive (except when we were ready for the check). My husband had the sous vide pork, which was as tender as expected, and the accompaniments paired very well for a nice fall dish. The pesto chicken pasta was good, but I would have preferred white meat, as I don't really care for dark meat chicken, which should have been specified on the menu. The wine was a good deal at 50% off on Sunday. The only issue we had was that it was so DARK outside that it was difficult to find/walk to the restaurant from the parking area. We were a little taken aback by the roaming javelinas, but after a moment we realized they seemed pretty oblivious to people.
My husband and I really enjoyed the pork steak and the strip steak dinners. Beautiful restaurant with good service.
Ate here 2 nights in a row on a golf outing. Seated VERY promptly at reservation time. Excellent restaurant with good service for our table of 8. Waited a bit for food but it was worth it! Variety of food ordered pastas, steaks, burgers, flatbread, etc. was tasty, drinks were good, but a little on the spendy side for glasses of wine! They have a great 50% off wine bottles on Sundays!
We come here every year in the same month. We have noticed that the menu is always the same every year though. Plus, as someone who eats plant based only there are limited options. We would love to eat here more often during our stay but I have exactly 1 option for breakfast and 1 option for dinner. The food is good, and the servers have always been very friendly and helpful.
Changes to menu and recipes very disappointing. The chips were still fab BUT the recipe for the dip changed. It was not near as good. Very disappointing and one of the big reasons we come. 😔
It is time to bring back the fish tacos!!!!!!!!!

Terrific views of Elephant Head over the adjacent golf green and big cottonwood trees. Intimate, relaxed ranch atmosphere with substantial wooden tables and chairs. Attentive service, water glasses generally refilled without asking and service continues after food is served. I've eaten here many times over last 15 years, and it's Almost 5 stars: food is generally of high quality but sometimes something is off, like recently the grilled chicken on our salads was quite dry, but the salmon fillet was grilled perfectly, crispy on outside and just done inside. Would rate 5 stars if food quality was more consistently at 5-star level.

get the Pork schnitzel !! The lemon butter sauce with capers was divine with the crispy pork, plus the potato salad side was I think the best we’ve ever had. My husbands ribeye steak was perfectly cooked and the green chile Mac in the skillet was delicious.
Had the tuna melt and it was awful. They used low quality ingredients which was no white tuna so the “salad” was more like mush and tasted horrible. There was so much moisture in it that it slid out of the partially soggy bread. Definitely not worth $18.
