“The service is among the best in Tucson, our server is always welcoming, prompt and extremely knowledgeable about the menu and specials, no matter who serves us when we go. The menu is expansive and everything sounds delicious, but I keep coming back for the chef’s creative specials. Wild Garlic truly has a unique and flavorful style when it comes to the beautiful food and the carefully crafted cocktails. To me, the price is more than worth the experience!“

“Outrageous! Last night we were enjoying ourselves at Brodies with our friend from England. We were called drunks by bartender Jeff. We couldn't believe his disrespect toward us, especially because none of us were drunk. We come at least twice a week, and Brody's is our favorite bar. We hope this will not happen again. Thank you.“

The cooks, cook their butts off all the time. Their food is absolutley amazing and very tasty. More stars are needed this place is a 10! Go check em out.
Kid-friendliness: Your kids are welcome until 8pm. Which is amazing when you wanna go watch a game or have a drink but not pay a sitter.“

“An absolutely fabulous award-winning active adult community. It has plenty of golf, tennis, pickleball, arts and crafts and clubs galore. This beautiful community is surrounded by mountains and very nicely landscaped. Residents move here from across the nation. They’ve had a level of success that enables them to live here.“

“I had an absolute great time with my family and watching the UofA basball game. The best part of it all was that the owner himself walked to the parking lot looking for us because I had forgotten my purse. I got all my stuff back super thankful and happy! We need more people like this in the world! full of integrity and kindness!“

“It's open to the public! You do not need to golf to enjoy fantastic food. It's a hidden gem for weddings and parties also. The view is gorgeous.“
“Please be advised that E. River Bar inside the Whole Foods market at Craycroft and River Road will be closing after Nov 3! We went for burgers and beer last night and saw this sign at the bar. Regulars at the bar said the sign went up about a week ago. Servers behind the bar said corporate did not give a reason for this closure. The burger and beer were excellent as usual. Just to be clear this little gem of a pub is the HEART AND SOUL of this Whole Foods. All the regular customers at the bar last night are heartbroken. Some have been regulars since it opened over 5 years ago, and said first they cut the menu items, then they cut the days/hours to 3 days/week and now this. We can only guess that corporate will fill this space with flip flops and t-shirts or worse expand the Amazon package pick up in this space. What a waste of space. There are few quality spots like this in this NE area of Tucson.“

“Atmosphere and service is good. The problem is the prices. Seem to keep going up. This is a casual bar / restaurant. 19 for a hamburger and add $3.00 for french fries. When you are spending 100.00 for a casual lunch with drinks its getting ridiculous.“
“This place has great hamburgers, a nice crowd and good drinks.
Parking: It has a small parking lot. However, I think you can safely park next door.
Wheelchair accessibility: Flat surface for wheelchair patrons.“

“My husband and I were happy to get a same day reservation. We were seated at a lovely and comfortable booth in the dining room. Within seconds we realized that the live music sound level was way too loud for us, so we asked to be seated elsewhere and were cheerfully re-seated at a table out on the covered patio. It was a beautiful evening and the view of the city of Tucson in the distance was excellent. Food and drink was delicious! My husband had the special which was prime rib. It was a healthy portion and came prepared how he had requested. Along with the prime rib was a salad and a loaded baked potato, he enjoyed both. I had the ‘Summer Salad' which was super fresh with a delicious Rasberry vinaigrette. It was filling and so tasty! We also enjoyed a red sangria and a margarita from the bar. Both were very good, not the dreaded sugar bomb you often get elsewhere. I should mention that the cost was fair. We enjoyed this meal and look forward to going back.“

“It’s been 13 years since I last dined at the Flying V Bar & Grill at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, and my recent return was both a nostalgic trip and a delightful rediscovery. The restaurant’s ambiance has only become more spectacular over time—walk through the elegant wooden doors and you’re greeted by a warm, Southwestern-inspired interior, with rustic wooden beams, earth-toned walls, and glowing pendant lights that create an inviting lodge-like feel. Just beyond lies the terraced deck, where you can sip your cocktails while gazing out over a serene lake, the well-manicured golf course, and the breathtaking Catalina Mountains and the Tucson city lights in the distance. It’s a magical setting that showcases the desert’s natural beauty in all its twilight glory.
We began our evening with two signature cocktails: the PICANTE COWBOY and the CROWN JEWEL. The PICANTE COWBOY—featuring Maker’s Mark, Ancho Reyes Verde, ginger agave, lemon, and hellfire bitters—offered a bold, smoky flair underpinned by a subtle peppery kick. The ginger agave added a pleasant sweetness, balancing the tang of the lemon and spice from the bitters perfectly. Meanwhile, the CROWN JEWEL—mixed with Patron Reposado, pineapple turbinado, and orange bitters—delivered a tropical fruitiness that was neither saccharine nor overpowering. Both drinks were impeccably balanced and showcased thoughtful mixology, though at a premium price point. Sipping these alongside a basket of fresh artisan bread and a luxuriously whipped butter “concoction” felt like a quintessential Southwest indulgence.
For dinner, we shared the GRILLED PRAWNS—a dish composed of leche de tigre, cucumber, serrano, coconut milk, cilantro, and confit squash. The flavors dazzled with their bright acidity, creamy coconut undertones, and fresh herbal notes. My only critique was the portion—three sizable prawns made it awkward to share, and we found ourselves playfully vying for the “odd one out.” Moving on to our main course, we opted for the CHILEAN SEABASS. Presented in a pool of walnut consommé with kabocha squash and a dusting of pistachio matcha, the fish was expertly cooked to a buttery, flaky finish, seasoned just enough to enhance without overwhelming its natural richness. Curiously, both dishes arrived with the same slice of undercooked squash. While flavorful in theory, the squash’s firm texture left parts of it inedible. It was a minor misstep but noticeable given the otherwise refined execution of the plates.
Service throughout the evening was prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable—servers appeared at just the right moments, kept our glasses filled, and were eager to answer any questions. The romantic atmosphere, panoramic views, and the warm glow from the interior’s rustic décor all contributed to a memorable night.
Though portion sizes were on the modest side—particularly for the price—the overall experience of dining at the Flying V Bar & Grill remains elevated by the quality of the cuisine, the captivating setting, and the attentive service. After 13 years away, I’m delighted to report that Flying V continues to shine as one of Tucson’s most distinctive and enjoyable dining venues.
