Really great atmosphere and service was prompt and friendly and professional. Appreciated the care to the environment. Artistic, creative and just enough table spacing for privacy and conversation. Servers were attentive.

The good:
-Malawach- was the highlight. Perfection. That sauce. Sweet and tangy

-The albacore was so soft, and melted in your mouth. Great balance of flavors with a tangy sauce adding to the freshness.

-The mushroom skewers were also delicious well balanced and textured.

-The cocktails- daaayum. That was a proper cocktail. I had the kitt peak.

Presentation game is on point.

Needs work:
Temperature consistency. On all our dishes, some parts were properly warm and others not. The mushrooms were cold for example and we couldn’t tell if they were meant to be warm. I think the kitchen needs to pay more attention to their plating timing.

The sea bass or halibut (I can’t remember which I got and the menu changes) was a bit overcooked and warm but the rest was room temp. And the starchy rice like side was really not a great compliment. Hate to sound harsh, but It was like eating a hard glue stick. Or day old topokki. IYKYK. That took all my attention away from the dish

Overall we liked the place and had a great time but in this reviewers opinion, the kitchen is still finding their stride.
We may try again but wouldn’t prioritize it.

Or we’d go just for malawach and some drinks.

Total bill was 170 with tip for two people.

(I have a background in hospitality, and my dinner guest has a background in fine dining so that’s the foundation of our review).

Delicious as always. Small plates crafted with precision. Wonderful fresh flavors. Great innovative cocktails. Bartenders and servers that know and love the food they serve. The Tuna dish we had most recently was a stand out. Love the open kitchen concept so you can sit close to the action.

The food and service were both exceptional. I asked our server a ton of questions about the dishes because they were all very unique and I'm a food nerd. He and the bartender were very knowledgeable and friendly. The Chef explained their endeavor to be an almost zero waste restaurant, no easy feat! I will definitely return!

We had dinner last night (7/9) at this lovely restaurant. First, the food selection, portions and above all the tastes were superb. Prices were reasonable and certainly not out of line for the Tucson area. We will certainly return in the near future. The chefs are artists and really magic. Thanks especially to Oliver and D.J. You certainly helped make it a memorable evening.

I had the great pleasure of doing the tasting menu at Bata this evening. It was delicious food and everyone was extremely friendly and nice. I was driving so I couldn't enjoy the cocktails, but I did order the house soda which was very good. If you want a special occasion, I highly recommend going for the tasting menu.

Classic comfort dishes made in a 1 of 1 fashion, Every dish I have ever had here has been exemplary, unique, and thought provoking in the most unexpected way. Sustainable kitchen, kind and personable staff, beautiful venue displaying Tucson’s best. Also quite affordable prices and deals for being Tucson upscale. Highly recommended atleast once! Also the desserts are super fun and TO DIE FOR !!!!

Not worth the price at all. The food is mediocre quality and terrible taste. Their drinks tasted awful and were severely overpriced.

In our group of 4 we ordered the special where they decide what to bring you. We had to split plates as they only brought us 2 plates to share. The portions were so small it left us still hungry at the end of the meal. We thought we'd have a plate each but this restaurant is so cheap they'll only give you one to split.

Save your money and go to a quality restaurant that doesn't rip you off. I deserve a refund for their subpar service and quality of food.

Beautiful restaurant for special occasions. Service was very nice and the food was very good, however I wasn't really wowed by anything but the prices which seem really steep for Tucson. I will probably go back but it will be mostly for the atmosphere.

Amazing, unique and delicious food that was beautiful presented. The staff was caring as well as being obviously passionate and excited about the food and ingredients. Each dish was presented with passion, with each ingredient explained, and was delicious. This is a true gem of a restaurant. They have so many homemade elements and do all of their own pickling and fermentation. Each ingredient was exciting and carefully crafted. We even got a tour of their fermentation room - the staff was so generous and wanted us to have the best experience possible. Would highly recommend!!!!

This is a great place to eat, especially for a special occasion. The food is unique and delicious, and eating there is more than a meal; it's an adventure. The waiter took time to describe the various choices, and we enjoyed every single bite. It was our anniversary, so we got a small tent card on the table with congratulations and a complimentary dessert to celebrate. It's not cheap, but it is certainly worth every penny. You can rest assured that we will return long before our next anniversary.

Brought a couple of friends along for our second visit. We all enjoyed the experience. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Tucson. Looking forward to trying the sister restaurants in future visits.
