True hole in the wall type of place and strikes me as very authentic. Quite possibly the best green corn tamales I've had in Tucson. Perfectly moist and full of flavor. I will be back! Keep in mind, it's cash only here.

This is an underrated gem in a city filled with Mexican food restaurants that are overpriced and get national attention.
I started going here in the 80s when I was in high school. Man, it used to be really cheap, lol. The birria is great, and it was one of the first places in Tucson that served it, hence the really fun to say ,"birrieria", like cafeteria. I only had birria in Mexico before, often with ? goat or sometimes lamb. Now, birria has had its viral moment, and it is offered everywhere, often replacing another Sonoran staple (and so damn good!), machaca and close cousin, carne seca.
The food here is made with love, simple but perfectly so. The ingredients are authentic and high quality.
Everything is worth trying, but the most cravable thing for me is their refried beans. (With lard, I know. But, it's so damn good! ). In a town with so many great Mexican food restaurants, this little humble family run spot (too small to get the attention it deserves!), this place shines! In my opinion, the beans are the best in town. I'll think about a bean and cheese burro all day. My old favorite refried beans were from El Grande Tortilla Factory. But these frijoles were practically tied, and Grande has sadly been closed for years now. You can also buy them by the quart to use at home. While the atmosphere isn't particularly elegant, it's drenched in Tucson charm and vibes. A place you will miss every day if you move away. A place you should try today if you live here. Mmmm. Now I know what I'm having for lunch ?.

Very good food. Lots of options. We got the red menudo, pozole, birria, and tacos de cabeza. Very good flavor on all of it. The only thing was there isnt alot of tables to seat people. But difinately would go again. Spent abt 80 bucks.

Love the food here, but every time I've been going lately they seem to give me less and less pozole which is my favorite thing to eat here so it's unfortunate each time especially for the price.
