Very nice, relaxed, non-corporate coffee shop atmosphere. Friendly folks, good coffee, I'm happy we have this local alternative to St****cks.!!

Their Dr. Turbo drink (espresso + Dr. Pepper) is SO AMAZINGLY GOOD!!

I previously left a 5 star review because I have in the past had an excellent experience with both service and product but after today's very bad experience I need to redo the review. I asked for light ice but my drink was clearly not light ice. When I handed it back to the barista he did not offer to remake it, he was clearly annoyed and rude. He dumped out some of the ice, which was still not light ice and even worse the drink, a $7 Tarheel tasted like grainy garbage. This guy shouldn't be anywhere near a food service job.

I used to find this place charming. The clubhouse vibe was a safe place for years. But, other than being open late, I dont quite find anything special about this place anymore. If you happen to make it inside, after a battle to secure a parking spot past 5p, you arrive to Barista’s within sight sitting on their phones and finishing long meaningless conversations before eventually verbally acknowledging you. I say verbal because they know you’re there. Be sure to wait by the counter watching them make your drink, they might forget about it or just forget to call your drink out. I’d say they dont mean to keep you waiting but it feels like do!

What kind of coffee shop doesn't open until 8?

Today was my first visit to Black Crown and I'm a huge fan now!!! Everything from the coffee, food & atmosphere are fabulous!!! And we met the artist behind the 9 Lives Initiative to raise money for cats! He has an Etsy shop and features awesome character Cat stickers!!! Also, the staff is lovely!!! I will definitely return!!! I highly recommend the breastmilk iced latte and banana loaf!!!!

Coffee is so delicious and potent. I always get the black widow bc why try something different when I love it so much? It seems to be filled with UofA students.There is a cozy nook upstairs with sofas if you want a more intimate setting.

Parking: I had a black widow, which was great, and a maple pecan scone which could've been better. It was a little dry and needed more pecans. Other than that, Black Crown is great!

Great coffee and lots of other menu items. Staff are friendly and the prices are great, right in a central area on Speedway, near Alvernon Way.

The food Is delicious and the coffee is super good!
