Wellllllll, lemme tell ya... This was our first time going to this restaurant. We arrived at 12:15 p.m. on a Saturday - 15 minutes after opening - and waited in line for 10-15 minutes before we were sat. We chose to sit at the bar to expedite matters and avoid sitting outside as it was a bit chilly. There were only two other people sitting at the bar and it remained that way throughout our entire ordeal until one guy split. The bartender took our order but then basically ignored us the rest of the time. I had to ask another server for a refill of our iced tea (you only get ONE complimentary refill; it says so on the menu) after not-so-discreetly inching the empty glass closer and closer to the inside edge of the counter hoping to get someone's attention. Yet another server brought us our mediocre tacos which were diminutive, to put it politely. No one asked us how we were doing, if we were enjoying our food, if they could bring us anything else or did/said anything that would normally happen at most any other restaurant that cares about its patrons. After we were finished we waited (and waited) for the bartender, happily chatting away with the (now) one other patron at the bar, to bring us our check. After 15-20 minutes not so much as receiving a glance in our direction, I finally had to walk down the bar to where he was and interrupt his conversation to hand him my card. On a more positive note, the salsa flight was yummy as were the Boca Balls. The guy who seated us and refilled our iced tea was pleasant. Everything else was below average. We won't be returning.

Disappointed. 40 minute wait time but waited over an hour. the chips were overly seasoned with salt. Beef and shrimp tacos were bland. Nothing special. Corn and flour tortillas were stale. Steak was hard. Beer battered shrimp was meh. Nothing special. The kitchen was understaffed which I believe affected the art and science of cooking. I don't know about you but music plays a big role in mood and vibes. I don't know why they chose the playlist they had playing that night. The place was dark and dusty. š¤·
On a lighter note, the salsas were tasty, and the customer service was ok. Our nice waitress replaced our overly salty chips to unsalted ones which tasted so much better. If anything, the chips were yummy. But I doubt I'll be coming back to this place for their tacos.

We waited over an hour, and when we checked in to see how much longer it would be, they said they just forgot to call us. The margarita did not have alcohol in it at all, and the tacos were literally flavorless. The only flavorful thing we had the entire time was the insanely salty chips that came with the salsa flight and all of the taco fillings were overcooked and flavorless.

Great food. Good service. The waitress on our last visit was probably a little high. But harmless. I'm told by several people that Maria is an angry owner. Saw her, and she didn't look happy. But the food is really good. Well worth the visit.

The chef asked how our food was. ''OK except for the diced sweet potatoes in the tostada'', they were undercooked. She tasted one, ''it's al-dentƩ''. Al-dentƩ sweet potato? I'll have to ask if that's a thing next time I'm in Italy. She had attitude! It shows in the food.

Restaurantji Recommends
So went there for the first time. Food was very good but service was less than stellar. Thought maybe they had some issue with us but looking at the other reviews it appears thier service is thier main issue for this restaurant. It wasn't very busy when we got there so it wasn't that.

I came here upon the recommendation of a very good friend who is a restaurant manager in town. I ordered a mojito and it was pretty mediocre. The portions of lime juice and sweetener (because I could tell they didnāt use powdered sugar) were not good enough, especially given their use of well rum.
I then ate the Boca balls. Those were pretty good, especially that green sauce garnish they use. About the only good thing so far.
Finally for the piece de resistanceā¦the ribsā¦that never arrived. Had I not bothered the server at some point, I would have waited all night for them. The server told me the kitchen didnāt bother to tell staff that they had ran out of the ribs. After waiting for about 45 minsā¦The server dropped the ball here too by not staying on top of my order.
To her credit, she comped the Boca balls but not the āmojito.ā I did not tip her because I should have been told much sooner about the unavailability of the plate I ordered.
I am not coming back here ever again. You only get one shot to impress an out of town person. Perhaps they learn from this, perhaps they donāt but that was my experience. Iāll have to let my fellow conference goers know to beware.

Maybe we were there at bad time but everyone told it was 30 min wait but it was never even half full (maybe short staffed?). Salsas which seemed the thing to order were meh - the only one Iād recommend would be the verde which tasted fresh and acidic (o thereās were one note). Inside dining was kind of dark and depressing on sunny day - definitely eat outside on a sunny afternoon. Family liked pollo and pork tacos. I found the cauliflower curry not hot enough - and over seasoned with no balance. The shrimp were fried and hot but taco too stuffed to eat holding it - proposrtions seemed off. Whole experience disappointing which is a shame because we had high hopes for this chef and her tacos!

The decor is cool and the food is good. Seems like the place is run by surly teenagers, which detracted from the experience for sure. Other customers around us were having similar experiences. I didn't see a manager or anyone that looked over 22 keeping an eyes on things. I saw some hygiene concerns like personal beverages and cell phones on the bar, not the best hand washing... I understand it's a college area, but I don't think they should allow some of their employees to show up for work looking like they're homeless. All of that being said, I think they could simply have some appearance standards, better food safety training, and an adult manager to make sure guests aren't being treated like an imposition.
