Cattletown Steakhouse & Saloon

Just a classic, old school steakhouse. Good service, good food and cold drinks. What more do you need? Have been going for years and will be.

Christine was our server and she was quick and very personable. We enjoyed having her and appreciated her wonderful service. We went for a late dinner so there was no wait and we were seated right away. We got our drinks quickly and ordered the fried mushrooms for an appetizer. They were fresh, great breading and very large. All the food was great and large portions. The prime rib and the gunslinger porterhouse were cooked perfect and seasoned perfect. The salad was fresh and crisp, baked potatoes were cooked well and the rolls were fresh. We will definitely be coming back.

We arrived at opening time. We were 1 of 2 tables, but still took over a half hour to get our food. My husband got a NY strip and baked potato. His meal was fine. I had a steak and shrimp with mashed potatoes. I asked for medium rare but came as well done and the piece was full of grissel. I did share this with the waitress and she did offer to redo, but my husband was already done and didn't want to take longer. The steak also was not seasoned, mashed potatoes were bland, along with the gravy. The other situation that was very unprofessional was when who we thought the owner was came in and flipped off her kitchen staff. I would imagine it was in fun, but still not cool.

It's a great place with terrific food.

Went on a Monday for a late father's day dinner with my wife and son. Instantly seated at a spacious booth. Server was quick to take our drink order and take our appetizer order. Apps came out very quickly and perfectly cooked. The onion rings were super crispy and cooked just perfectly. Mains were ordered and we were super impressed with the quality and quantity of food. Wonderfully attendant staff but never pushy. Service was amazing and the food was to die for. Super value for money spent. Decor is warm and inviting with wood everywhere. Definitely will be returning here. You will not be disappointed.

It was like 18 of us and we had reservations for 14 and they did not blink they just took great care of us and it was a great Christmas party thank you so much!

First time trying Cattletown Steakhouse at around 2:30 PM on Saturday. I ordered the governors special. 8oz New York strip with baked potato and salad.
The steak was cooked to order, delicious and salad and BP were also good.
The problem was the “Our famous House special”. The Chicken fried steak. I had seen previous good reviews. My husband ordered this because it’s a favorite of his, elsewhere. No doubt the chicken was a frozen patty and fried in dirty oil. He loves mashed potatoes and he said they were definitely instant. I believe him because he loves mashed potatoes and chicken fried steak. He also has worked in restaurants that used dirty oil. The portion was also 1/2 the size of anywhere else we have received. The portion would have been fine if it was good. (Cracker Barrel is so much better and twice as big) We were not expecting this at a steakhouse. Maybe a diner; but not here. Seems like a strange way to cut cost on what apparently was a big draw. Summary, cutting corners in a nice steak house seems counterproductive. Generally people that go to steakhouse would pay more for fresh baked rolls, real mashed potatoes and clean fryers. Rolls were store bought. Frozen mini portion of fried steak, dirty oil and instant mashed potatoes. Again; steak was excellent and so was the service.
