From a very humble setting, you can find an amazing taco place with very friendly service, attention to details (if your on the run, they give you a tray to chose the toppings from their ice bar and they wrap it carefully to make it easy to prepare your tacos when you get to your destination!) and of course delicious food! Try the mixto tacos! Hard not to have a good meal and a fair price! !Mil Gracias, Chalypau!

Wow…unexpected surprise this side of the border. I’ve been commenting on other post about food on the Sonora side and how it usually differs from Mexican food on this side. It’s usually because of the ingredients….usually.
Today I was humbled and recognize that how food can taste is not just from the ingredients but also from who cooks it. When there is a passion for what you are doing then certainly that can have a big impact on how your food will taste as well. I guess it comes down to not just the quality ingredients but also the love or passion for making those ingredients the star of what you cook, making them work hard and making something that others don’t come close to presenting/preparing for the customer to eat.
This place can get you the taste of south of the border and deliver it in a much better fashion with a ton of taste. This food had so much flavor it was criminal in the best of ways….it really was.
If you drove past it you might not think much of it but don’t think it over too much and just try it. You’ll thank me later.
Two plates. One was the burrito. You can chose it with Birria, Carne Asada, Pastor, Cabeza or if you are feeling like a true carnivore you can get them all or mixto. I go the mixto (all the meats).
It came wrapped in a delicious flour tortilla that was perfectly toasted on both sides and it was FAT!!! They don’t play with the meat. You want meat, you’re getting meat. The portions are very generous. I cut the burrito in half to see what was in it and to take the picture. It was juicy, cheesy, right amount of onions, cilantro and I asked them to place the avocado slices on the side. You really don’t need to add much else to this. They have a plethora of fresh garnishes you can add but I recommend you try the first bite as is to enjoy it in its purest form and as presented. Lots of love went into this burrito. As soon as I took my first bite I had a food-gasm. This is the second time I eat something since arriving in southern Arizona that can do that. You become one with this burrito.
If I was on death row and had to ask for my last meal before getting zapped and I was in a mood for a burrito I would ask for this. This is a death row/last meal burrito. Maybe they should call it that….that’s how amazing this is. Not many foods have made my death row list but this is one of the few that have.
The other plate was a quesabirria and a Keto taco. The keto taco is the cheese cooked to a crisp and then they place all the good stuff on it. This one was just carne asada. The quesabirria was absolutely delicious as well.
I had a chance to chat with the chef as I placed an order for another burrito to go. He recommended the birria with Ramen soup for next time. The ramen is boiled on the same broth that comes out of the birria. I can only imagine.
Best part is that it’s on this side of the border. You don’t have to go across into Mexico for a true taste of Mexico. It’s here in Tucson. This place is a must if you are in the area. It’s a treasure of Tucson not to be missed by either locals or people visiting. The folks working the place were supper friendly, place was very clean. The food was up there that it should be on a guide of places to eat when in Tucson.
Chalypau….you have a new loyal customer. I can’t wait to go back.
Please keep up what you are doing. You truly are a rare and shining star that will keep and elevate Tucson as a food destination for others to try.
The menu prices are current as if 4/2025.
