We visited Hop Shop with a large group on what we expected to be a quiet Wednesday, but it was unexpectedly busy. The staff handled the situation with professionalism, clearly communicating wait times and managing the rush efficiently.
Our food arrived within the estimated timeframe, and the pizza was excellent. We appreciated the staff’s transparency and professionalism and would happily return.

[For a scary little while, Ciao Down stopped making pizza and only had nachos, which despite some interesting flavored cheese sauce, simply did not satisfy like the pizza. But the pizza is back!! Hallelujah!!]
The Big Dill. You like dill pickles? You like garlic cream sauce? You like gooey cheesy pizza? This is the best unexpected flavor experience I've ever had. I love Ciao Down, the beer from the Hop Shop next door is a perfect addition to the meal.

As a former employee, this is tough to write. Pizza used to be delicious, quick, and with a smile. The new crew doesn’t appear to have any hustle and the last 3 times we’ve been in, we’ve received extremely burnt pizza after waiting 60-90 mins. Pizza tonight was the size of a child’s order and was again quite crispy on the crust. Was told the wait was about 25 mins and waited an hour. Management are good people but the crew desperately needs re-training. I don’t really care to spend money here anymore which is deeply disappointing.

What happened? The pizza has been great when we first started going here (specifically, the Flying Hawaiian). The last one, since reopening, was totally meh.

Typically pretty good but just got the saddest $13 cesear. Why skimp on lettuce? I don't get it.
Ciao Down's Pizza has some quality toppings, but the crust was limp and the cheese and toppings fall of the slice while you eat it. Somewhat disappointing when you have so many other good pizza options in town such as Whole Slice, UglyButHonest, and Magpie's. Service in store was friendly, fast, and efficient, but maybe too efficient, as the pizza seemed undercooked.
Absolute best pizza in town! With the greatest owners! To this day, I think of my sad, lonely, snake bite wanting days during my pregnancy smack dab in the middle 2020 during the pandemic. And messaging once to ask when they would be out with the truck because cravings!!! And was promptly told, just let us know when you need it and we’ll make it happen! I know I loved Ciao down before that, but service like that makes a memory last forever! I will always support this local gem in Tucson!

This place is excellent. Crispy crust, amazing toppings. Gourmet pizza to the max. Tucson needed a place like this and it's wonderful to enjoy a beer on the patio at the bar while you wait for your pizza. This place is HOPPIN so make sure if you go to be ready to wait, because it's worth it! Congratulations on opening your new locations, y'all. Hoping and hoping that maybe you'll be checking out the east side of town for your next place!!

They used to put more ingredients on the pizza. I just ate there 8/29/25. It was my 3rd time eating there in the last year, and I recall there being more toppings. I had the Veggie Patch and Bourbon & Fig. I always get at least half Veggie Patch when I come, and yesterday's was disappointing. The dough and cheese were good, as normal, but it was sorely lacking in toppings and sauce. It mostly just tasted like dough.
