First time here! Got the steak taco plate and everything was absolutely delicious!!! The place is awesome inside and out with spotless restrooms! Lots to look at while you are waiting for your meal. Service was excellent and our waiter was super friendly and helpful. I can't wait to go again. My friends fiancee is a relative of the owner but we were taken care of before he arrived so it wasn't like we got treated differently than anyone else which is impressive to me. It was definitely worth the time and drive to get there but they have numerous restaurants in the area so there's probably one of them close by. Do not miss having a great meal here!
BTW I have absolutely no stake in this restaurant I'm just a friend who was treated to a fantastic lunch!

The El Carne Seca Chimichanga at El Charro Cafe is a true taste of Sonoran tradition! It's a very unique dish that I'd describe as an acquired taste—delicious, but definitely on the salty side. The flavor is incredibly authentic and speaks to the centuries-old method of preparing the meat. It pairs wonderfully with a cooling drink, and the mango-jalapeño margarita was the perfect choice, balancing the rich, savory meat with its spicy and sweet notes. A truly memorable meal and a great experience.

ordered the fish (veracruz). was tough- probably from frozen and smothered in an italian tomato sauce. no beans no rice just the house salsa that was the only flavor. wasn’t worth $40 or even $20. skip it.
Great food and excellent service.

Compared to El Charro location up Sabino Canyon this place missed the mark on the seafood enchiladas. They had adequate filling but it lacked the seafood flavor. The enchiladas were good but the sauce seemed to be missing some of the spices that I know they have. It could be the chefs were overwhelmed because the main room was reserved for the evening for an event. We drove the extra distance to try this location. Will go back to the Sabino Canyon location or try the downtown place. Great wait staff as they were very attentive.

Got the dessert tray (not on their computer, but in their web site). They had a hard time finding it. It was way over priced. I also got a tray of Sonoran rice also over priced. But it was really good
