This was me and my buddies first real meal after being at a music festival for 4 days straight.. the cheese dip was absolutely incredible. The complimentary salsa is a slapper as well.. the heat builds as you go. I had the surf and turf fajitas. Well worth it and delicious. One of my boys was absolutely buzzing off a nice dose of M and still mopped his birria enchilada. I think the servers name was Jayden. He was pretty cool too. 10/10 spot. Would recommend.

Atmosphere and service were ok. Save your money if you are looking for good food. I had the worst looking michelada i have ever seen. The food looked amazing but all three plates were lacking. We paid and went to eat elsewhere.

Very good food and service. After eating at many Mexican food places, this one stands out! Unique history as well surrounding the origins of this place. The service was on point, I very much felt like we were VIP the entire time.

We saw this restaurant featured on Top Chef last year. We couldn’t wait to try it and we were not disappointed. The service was great. The margaritas were delicious. But the chefs were the stars. The food was amazing. This will be forever our favorite restaurant in uptown Tucson.

I had the El Charro Carne Seca Enchiladas. The enchiladas tasted really good but there didn’t have much pork. They think that they can fill you up on rice, beans and the tortillas, all cheap carbs.

Hopefull and disappointing.

Wanted to eat there however, the restaurant was about 1/3 occupied and we were told we would have to wait at least 25 minutes because everything was reserved, not a big party, just because of pending reservations. Not a good move because now we will never know if it is good or not and we found them to be very un-accommodating. It was just me and my wife. Seems the person handling the front desk should have checked with the manager.

Let's start with the food because, wow! I have been disappointed with a lot of the Mexican restaurants that I used to love since deciding to be a vegetarian. This was my first time at El Charro, however, and I was optimistic by the number of vegetarian options on the menu. I had the vegenchiladas, which are made with chickpea chorizo. I loved them so much. The perfect flavor.

The service was just as impressive. There wasn't a long wait for our drinks or food and we never ran out of chips and salsa. The person that took our order made sure I didn't have an allergy when I asked about an item and was very knowledgeable about the menu.

Prices were very reasonable for how great everything was. Maybe a new date night. The atmosphere is perfect for that.

Editing to add pictures because I had to come back for those vegenchiladas. Mmmmm.

Honestly it really wasn’t a very good experience. We came because they have got Gluten free and plant based option on their menu. To start the salad was incredibly spicy, I asked for a mild and it didn’t come until the brought the first round of food out. We ordered 2 orders of fajitas, Another meal and a meal as an appetizer. The “appetizer” meal and the fajitas hot plates all came out together. Then we had to wait for a good 20 min before the second meal and the fajita sides came out. We got the veggie fajitas, the broccoli was hard the cauliflower was almost raw and the mushrooms weren’t cooked well either. Everything was drenched in oil and spicy again. The vegan taquitos we got as an appetizer to share were spicy too.

When our other food finally came out there was only 2 tortillas for the fajitas per order of fajitas. I’m sorry but that’s not enough.

The other meal was also very spicy.

The cost was NOT!!! Worth the food. Thankfully they acknowledged the issue with the wait and comped the fajitas but still paying $50 for a meal and an appetizer (sorry but 3 taquitos is an appetizer not a meal) and a sprite it crazy. The portion sizes were not very big either.

All in all we won’t be back. Not a good experience service wise or food wise. I really wanted to like this place too. It’s hard to find good GF/plant based options.
