My wife and I went here for dinner and enjoyed it! The service was fantastic and the food was excellent. I had the “Que Keto Salad” which was enormous and great! I couldn’t finish it, not even close. Their chips and salsa was very good too. My wife had enchiladas which were also very good. She also enjoyed the Prickly Pear Margarita!
I ordered the vegan enchiladas. The menu said it contained chickpea chorizo, beans, rice, peppers… but they came filled with sautéed yellow summer squash and not much else. $17 for two enchiladas that did not remotely resemble the menu’s description.
We saw good reviews and decided to try it during a visit to Saguaro NP. The history is cool and the atmosphere was immersive. The food was good. The tableside quac was very good, but we did have to wait a bit and then dinner came out right after. Would have been better if there was some space between, but hey stuff happens. The fajitas were yummy. My husband had the seafood enchiladas and tostada which he said were the best he had in a VERY long time. And yes, you cas see the meat hanging on the roof for the chimichanga.
I was looking forward to dinner at this beautiful restaurant while planning our recent trip to the Southwest. It did not disappoint! First, it is so lovely, bright and welcoming. Our server was so professional and kind. And maybe most importantly, our meal was outstanding! I only wish we lived closer so that we could frequent this charming place. It was practically empty the Friday nigt we were there, which I could not understand. But, I will remember the ambience and incredible meal always. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Went here for my Birthday lunch. We were excited because we heard that this is a good restaurant for gluten free options. My daughter has to have a gluten free diet due to medical reasons. We asked the waitress about if they had gluten free bun for a hamburger which they said they have. We ordered the burger for her. They brought out the food and we confirmed with the gentleman who brought it out that it was gluten free. My daughter started to eat it and about 4 minutes later the waitress came over and said that it was not gluten free. My daughter started crying and it ruined the lunch. The manager came over and spoke with us . We left the restaurant at that point.
This restaurant is one that we frequent often. The waitress was pleasant and accommodating with our requests. The service was efficient and done in a timely manner. The food was tasteful and enjoyable and plated well as always. We recommend this restaurant to all Tucsonians who want a pleasant, relaxed, and tasteful experience.
We made the mistake to try new things. We shouldn’t have swayed from our tried and true. I don’t know what kind of cheese they use for the queso fundito but it was really gross. Equally bad were the Tucson's Enchiladas Sonorenses and the calabacitas. We have had good meals here but this was truly not one of them.
Always great on Sunday night. Sit at the bar and eat. The food always seems to be hotter there. Drinks are fresh and conversation with other diners abounds
After trying out several other places in Tucson, we finally ended up here. Should have began here. The food was excellent. It was very busy when we arrived, but we did have a reservation (recmmended) and we seated on the veranda section of the place. There was an air vent blowing cold air on us, so because of thet it was a little uncomfortable, but once the food arrived, there was nothing to worry about. Great food, good service and a llarge selection of dishes. Would eat here again tomorrow, but we live in Oregon.
Always my 1st choice when I'm craving good Mexican food.

El Charo has been a foothills staple of ours for years now. Fantastic service, fabulous food, and friendly atmosphere. Tori (one of the many great servers and bartenders) has taken care of us several times and does SUCH a great job- 10/10! Jose and Santos are so attentive and kind and always ask if we would like refills on drinks and chips. Highly recommend!
Also- take some time to look ant the menu and order a cheese crisp with green chilis!
Chicken from the fajitas was extremely dry and almost inedible. We’ve been several times over the years and this place is pretty inconsistent.
I went to this restaurant after having a long and stressful day. I was extremely hungry and wanted to have food quickly and thanks to the great service at El Charro Cafe Ventana my food was not only provided quickly but also with great taste. I ordered a Chicken Reynosa and the food was delicious. The service provided was by the manager herself who’s name is Miriam and it was great as she personally delivered us our plates and gave us great suggestions on our food by suggesting specific salsas to give our food an extra taste. She also provided us with great conversation which made me and wife’s day a lot better. It was without a doubt one of the best services I have had and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes good food!
Ourstanding food and service. Reasonable pricing and many dishes are marked as Gluten Free for those customers. (I'm told that the Chef is also a gluten-free consumer.) You also could be very lucky to have Bree as your server. I'm not sure how she spells her name, but she is the "epitome of restaurant service". We keep going back, and going back, and going back. Highest recommendations.

We visited while in town based on a local’s recommendation. You need a reservation! We were there at 6 on a Tuesday night and people were being told the wait was 2+ hours. The atmosphere is great in this old house. It is loud inside. The enclosed patio seemed quieter but cool. The menu was full of delicious options. Our food was delicious and was served quickly. The hostess was kind and very helpful and deal well with the long line of people waiting. Our waiter was our only disappointment this visit. He made a couple of errors on our order and did not ask to make sure we had what we ordered. He also seemed unconcerned when informed about a food allergy. He had to be pressed to check with the kitchen and seemed put out to do so. Despite this, we would definitely return for more great food.
