Always great on Sunday night. Sit at the bar and eat. The food always seems to be hotter there. Drinks are fresh and conversation with other diners abounds
Always my 1st choice when I'm craving good Mexican food.
El Charo has been a foothills staple of ours for years now. Fantastic service, fabulous food, and friendly atmosphere. Tori (one of the many great servers and bartenders) has taken care of us several times and does SUCH a great job- 10/10! Jose and Santos are so attentive and kind and always ask if we would like refills on drinks and chips. Highly recommend!
Also- take some time to look ant the menu and order a cheese crisp with green chilis!
Chicken from the fajitas was extremely dry and almost inedible. We’ve been several times over the years and this place is pretty inconsistent.
I went to this restaurant after having a long and stressful day. I was extremely hungry and wanted to have food quickly and thanks to the great service at El Charro Cafe Ventana my food was not only provided quickly but also with great taste. I ordered a Chicken Reynosa and the food was delicious. The service provided was by the manager herself who’s name is Miriam and it was great as she personally delivered us our plates and gave us great suggestions on our food by suggesting specific salsas to give our food an extra taste. She also provided us with great conversation which made me and wife’s day a lot better. It was without a doubt one of the best services I have had and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes good food!
Ourstanding food and service. Reasonable pricing and many dishes are marked as Gluten Free for those customers. (I'm told that the Chef is also a gluten-free consumer.) You also could be very lucky to have Bree as your server. I'm not sure how she spells her name, but she is the "epitome of restaurant service". We keep going back, and going back, and going back. Highest recommendations.

Antonio our server was fantastic! Food was wonderful too!
Went back with out of town guest.I had not been back for over 15 years. It was a fantastic experience. Food was excellent. We started with a share of Queso Fundido with chile & chorizo. My friend had never had this and loved it.It was much better than others I have tried around town. Enchiladas were great.I had the special Carne Seca plate and he had the seafood.a few Mexican beers and we had no room for dessert. The 2 salsas were both excellent I poured all the red on my Enchiladas. 10 of 10 folks .Made a yelp reservation and all was perfect. a patio table would have been fun been sun & 80s kept us inside taking in all the character of the old home.

This is our go-to Mexican restaurant. We have been here many times and really enjoy the food. They invented the chimichanga!

Had a VERY disappointing experience this past New Year's Day... waitress seemed distracted, started with a long delay coming to our.table to get our drink order...I understand a few minutes but took a solid 15 minutes or so...then brought the incorrect appetizer, followed by completely getting one of three orders totally incorrect as well as forgetting the utensils...now, one of these is understandable but consistently making mistakes makes for a very disappointing experience...first I've experienced this especially at this location...not certain if they were understaffed but really seemed that way if not then just absolutely incompetent or not taking customer service seriously especially when food is involved...SMH, really hope this is a one off.
They told us it was an hour wait - No problem. After getting seated, close to an hour later the waitress took out drink orders, and shortly thereafter we got our drinks and placed our orders. Well, I sensed something was "off" as the tables around us starting to complain to their waiters. Well 45 minute later we asked the waitress what is taking so long. She said she was sorry and got the manager to come over. We had 5 people. 15-20 minutes later we got the food - YES and hour plus wait for simple Mexica fare! The food for 3 out of the 5 of us was luke warm. The manager did not have much to say except that he credited our meals back. I would not recommend anyone going there.

Service was awful. I ate with a family with 9 adults. They were out of carne seca.Ordering was easy but my plate was messed up twice but they forgot to bring it to me. I had the 3 tamales and they were ok but the carnitas one was so spicy I couldn’t eat it. The fajitas were really good that my husband got. The chips were good. Overall, I was not impressed.I understand that El Charro has history but there are many other authentic Mexican restaurants that are way better.
