Group of 7 on a Saturday evening. We were the first people to be seated in the dining area and we ordered drinks pretty quickly but our server immediately let us know that any alcoholic beverages would take a while because the bar “was being hit hard” right now which seemed odd since there was hardly anyone at the bar and the event they were hosting was a high school winter formal. After about 15 mins our bottled beers were brought out and our orders were taken. We had an event @7pm at the arena next door and we initially were seated at 530p. Our food came out at 620p, almost an hour after being seated and there were maybe 3 other tables seated.
Food was not hot, warm at best. The ribeye steak was very fatty and dry and the fries were soggy. The Caesar salad was wilted and the chicken it was served with was not seasoned well.
We asked for our bill and my husband went to pay for it and we had items on our bill that were incorrect and gratuity was added at 18% (that’s fine, but our server didn’t mention it was auto added). My husband asked for an itemized receipt and he was told it would only print AFTER they processed payment. Well, after it was processed ($309 total) it was noticed there were items charged incorrectly. My husband asked them to correct it and the person running the register wasn’t sure how. It took about 15 mins for them to reverse the charge, reinpuf our items and recharge our card. We were late to our event which began @7pm and was literally a few minutes walk away from the restaurant. Zero apologies or consideration from staff for their lack of staffing, food taking so long and their error on billing.
A very disappointing dinner experience at a restaurant with prime location for events in the downtown Tucson area.

Slow service. Cold food. Wilted salad. Charged incorrectly and itemized bill is only available after you pay resulting in a much bigger deal to correct after the fact.
Slow service, room temp food without much flavor, way overpriced for the quality of food, service, and atmosphere. I would not recommend this place and would tell people to avoid

Who would have thought that a salad with chicken wouldn't be safe enough (spice-wise) to eat? I was discouraged from getting the chimichanga because I asked the waitress if it was spicy. I ordered the salad instead, took it to my room, and had to stop eating my meal because it was so, so, so spicy. Note to chef: not EVERYTHING has to be high heat!

We were hesitant to eat breakfast here, given some of the reviews, but we had a great breakfast experience. I had the chorizo burrito and the wife had the French toast. It was all prepared well and it was tasty. The French toast was really good! Our server was great and kept the coffee coming. The atmosphere is very nice and relaxing.

Rave reviews, but reality was disappointing....preferred menu item was unavailable and food ordered arrived COLD. Shrimp in tacos resembled rubber. Save your money and high expectations.....go elsewhere!
through Uber eats I ordered the breakfast burrito it fell apart and all it was was egg it was missing everything potatoes bacon, chorizo, avocado cheese and salsa. I have pics but there isnt the option for me to post. Can't get a refund stuck with this 13. Dollar egg burrito

I had initially avoided this restaurant on my 6 day stay due to the other reviews but decided to have breakfast on my last day. It was a wonderful meal of tamales, eggs and potatoes that is on par with what is served at other area restaurants. I would say it was what I was hoping for from another restaurant I reviewed yesterday but left disappointed in.
It was a generous portion of roasted potatoes, two large green chile and cheese tamales, with two eggs and dollops of sour cream, guacamole and pico. I added some corn tortillas that I probably could have gone without but they were also good and supposedly homemade (although I’m skeptical due to their uniformity).
A few other items on the menu caught my eye so I might try them next time I’m I town (I get back to Tucson a few times a year).

I know the importance of reviews because many times my own work is dictated by word of mouth. With that being said, I highly recommend El Mezquite for both its food and friendly and attentive staff. A special thanks goes to Kimberly Parra, my server, who made sure I was well attended to.

Celebrated our 1 year anniversary here at El Mezquite and we’re very happy. Loved the attentive and friendly staff. We were really happy with the food we got- I got the chimichanga and my husband got a burger and they were both really good. We would describe the food at “New Mexican food” it is just Mexican food with a slightly modern twist and we really enjoyed it.El Mezquite gave us complimentary dessert for our anniversary. Very happy will return.

Good food, weird energy in there. Didn’t feel inviting, server was lackluster. I like the food but the menu was pretty small.

Worse experience ever. Racist owner. Pretend to be nice until they have your money. Service was trash and basic. Could have made at home. Spent over 70 dollars just to not be satisfied and threaten to have police called on me because of there trash service . I don't recommend unless u want to waste money and be judged by a person that doesn't know how to greet guest unless it's his kind. Be careful spending your hard earned money here...TRASH
