Tucson was designated the first UNESCO City of Gastronomy in 2015 and the vegan food scene here never disappoints. Couple that with El Torero, a family owned and run Mexican restaurant which has been in Tucson since 1957 and plant based menu options and WOW! We had the tofu and potato tacos with mole sauce and the potato and spinach enchiladas. Both are huge portions served with black beans and calabacitas. YUMMY! 😋

Absolutely wonderful food and service. Margaritas to die for! Great place to socialize. I wish I had heard about it sooner!

I have to say it to get it out of my chest; I ordered a medium cooked ribeyece Surf and turf and got a very different version of it, I should have been advised that the meat would be cut in very small pieces not medium term but dried and overcooked and it comes in a watery soft noodles in a sauce mixed with it. To say the least it was a big disappointment. The flautas were not any better, the churros had no dulce de leche to dip in either, so I think this place was not for me, all I can take out of this experience is that I know we're NOT to go next time.

Classic low end Mexican food. More about the vibe than anything.

This place has the most amazing food. The service is top shelf. The space is nice and clean, very basic. When I go to a restaurant, the food and service are the priority...and El Torero delivers on both.

Honestly, I hate to even leave a bad review like this but I was really blown away with how bad everything was top to bottom. My burrito came with so much sauce it was spilling off the plate…that’s enough sauce! I couldn’t taste a thing in the burrito, just sauce. The portion size was crazy, literally the size of a new born. You could keep your prices down if you served normal portions. The server was trying to provide good service, but for some reason the owner seemed confused they were so busy and was obviously unprepared. We went at 7pm on a Saturday mind you, which is a time you should expect a restaurant to be busy for anyone with common sense. Unfortunately this will be the last time I go to El Torero, hopefully something will change in the future. Just sloppy all around and not worth the wait or the money.

Called for take out. Not offering vegan menu today. Very uncommodating.

Been way to long since I've been here. The food is still amazing and plentiful. 2x2 is my go to definitely add beans and rice I also got a green corn tamale so good.

Even though I grew up in Tucson, this was my first time here. The visit did not start off great. Waited over 15 minutes to be seated during what seemed to be a slow lunch rush. After waiting finally sat down and the rest of the time went smoothly.
Food was just like homemade. I had the 2 taco lunch plate and it was delicious. I would come again for sure but hopefully the service will be better

Just had the most wonderful meal here. The food was amazing, the vibes were immaculate and the folks who work there were all incredibly kind. 10/10 would recommend, favorite place I’ve been in Tucson.

Extremely loud to the point it was difficult to have a conversation. The food was mediocre and cheese crisp was almost burnt on the edges. Prices were reasonable and the portions were a good size. Really liked the beans and rice, the patty tacos were huge, a full patty of meat.
