Great place with great amazing bacon wrapped hot dogs on freshly baked bread. These folks actual have been awarded a James Beard award! Their tacos were mid-range and not mind blower but, solid none the less. If your in Tucson, be sure to add this place to your must see places.
Tried the new ‘all beef’ Chucho hot dog, which approaching $7 is very expensive for a hot dog. After about a 20 minute wait, my number was called and I was handed this monstrosity. Totally devoid of flavor, served way too hot. I could only muster a couple of bites and threw the rest away. This place is cruising on brand name recognition. I am supposed to tip as well?? Do yourself a flavor favor and try the best Sonora Dog in town which you will find at Aqui Con El Nene on Flowing Wells.
After 30 minute wait for 1 4$ taco and almost a 5$ hotdog and still messing up my order twice. Bad service overall.
I mean it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. Very bland tacos and burritos. Salsas were hot and spicy, but meats had no seasoning. Not made with any kind of love or care. Why cabbage and not lettuce is perplexing to me. Not recommended, sorry...not sorry.
I bought 6 pounds of meat, came with a side of whole beans (enough for 3-5 people), jalapeños, cebollitas, sliced cucumbers, guacamole, salsa and pico de gallo. That is not too much meat, the price went from $20 per pound to $30 per pound. The total price was a little over $200. Too pricey for 6 pounds of meat and the sides, ridiculous. I know everything has gone up, but this is too much. When I looked at the internet it said $20, but when I paid, they charged about $30, could not believe my eyes. I could have gotten more for that money somewhere else.
Came for the Sonoran dogs and was not disappointed! It was just as good as it looks if not more. They do have more on their menu, and everything is decently priced
This is a classic Tucson Mexican restaurant. Very casual counter service and picnic seating tables for eat-in dining. Reasonably priced.
This spot is known for their Sonoran hot dogs, but they also have a number of other taqueria items like burritos, tacos, tortas, and quesadillas. I tried an asada taco and a Chucho dog. The taco was alright, but the real star was the delicious, all-beef Chucho dog, which was served on an incredibly soft bun and topped with all the fixings.
I think my hopes were a little too high for this place - the food looks fantastic, but my group and I walked away underwhelmed by most of the items on the menu (except for the desserts - those were a hit). We enjoyed the bread but everyone agreed the actual contents of the hot dogs could have been placed in a manner that gives a more fulfilling bite (ex: including toppings on the bottom/sides and not just slapped on top). The service was great though, and the place itself offered several spots (both indoors and outdoors) to sit and eat.
Being from Chicago, I have a very discerning perspective on hot dogs. I was told this was a place we had to visit. We were not disappointed. The tacos were good. But the Sornoran style hot dog was out of this world. I'd had ordered two more if my gut would have survived. Fast service and great outdoor seating.

This place is bare bones but the food is sure worth it. I was so happy that the small carmalo was a corn tortilla. It wasn’t small though and we took half home! Both my son and I had beef. The guacamole was a very large portion that we also took home. The various salsas were all delicious as was my hibiscus drink. If you want good, authentic food and don’t need a fancy place I highly recommend.
If there is one place to have lunch this is the PLACE ... Try any of the menu items you will enjoy it Special on the wrap sausages hot dog with bacon ....
Amazing food, We had the Sonoran and the Chuchos dog. Must have the guacamole and chips. The flan is amazing, the best we ever had. Rice pudding is excellent. Horchata is very yummy too!
Is a Sonoron hotdog a must try when in Tucson? No, not imo. Let me first state that I do avoid hotdogs because…well, they’re not healthy. Don’t get me wrong, I think they’re good taste-wise, but just kinda nasty otherwise. But, I was definitely up to trying one if it had a Mexican flair. This one did not. At all. The only thing different from a traditional hotdog was diced tomatoes on top and a thicker, softer bun. If you scrape off the tomatoes and go to the condiment bar, you can put some spicy salsa on it. Now it has a tiny bit of Mexican flavor. Most disappointing meal I had while staying in Tucson, especially when I knew there were SO many good ones around. If you absolutely love hotdogs, then ok, go and try. But if you want to have great meal while in town, skip it.
The burritos consist of a massive tortilla and a large quantity of meat. That's it -- no beans, no cheese, no guacamole, no pico de gallo, no sauce. Very bland. They have a condiment bar with tiny plastic cups with salsa that is bland with little to no spice. When we order a burrito we expect it to be loaded, or at least asked when we do or do not want on it.
