First let me say, I've never experienced such a welcoming atmosphere before at a dine in restaurant. The owner was truly remarkable, service was exceptionally amazing, and the food was made to order, so delicious! We will be coming back and telling everyone about the experience we had, and how amazing all the food was!
I ordered the catfish plate, the fish and mac cheese is delicious, great place!

I'm being fair. The food was less than expected. I had a single piece of catfish that was seasoned ok, but it was thick, and it was not cooked through and through. The coleslaw was the best of the meal. My boyfriend got jersey chicken and he was too disappointed. The customer service was really good. They were very friendly and nice. The place has fans on opposite ends of the restaurant, and it was 50 degrees or so. It was totally freezing in there. I wanted to stay and enjoy my meal but at the last minute we decided to take our food home. I thought I wanted to try what i thought was a homemade dessert, and it was a store bought lemon cake. I felt sorry for my boyfriend because i begged him to let's go try this place out, and I only completed the kool-aid the coleslaw. I wanted to support and give great feedback, but I can't. Hopefully, they will see this review and change a few things to make it better for their next customers.

I can't believe I haven't been here sooner. I discovered Janet and Ray's by searching food near me 😂. I was tired of the same old same old that I get every week and wanted to try something different. Janet and Ray's was perfect because I've actually been hungry for catfish but haven't had the time to fish lately. All the food was delicious! I got the fried catfish dinner with potato salad and festivals. I did get tartar sauce to go with the fried catfish but it had enough flavor on its own that it really didn't need it. I wasn't expecting the potato salad to be spicy and I've never had spicy potato salad before but I definitely will be getting it again. I had originally wanted collard greens to go with my fried catfish but they only have it on certain days so I will definitely come back to try other options and the collard greens. I know today was the day that they have oxtail or curry goat both are things that I have never tried but I will definitely try it on another day. I am also looking forward to trying the lobster mac and cheese. I'm always willing to try something new because you don't know if you like it or not if you don't try it.

They are always friendly and food is delicious. Every once in a while, the music is a bit louder and can make table conversation just a tad bit harder.
Vegetarian options: There weren't too many options. However, my daughter is vegan. When we stated that the owner took time to make something that my daughter could eat. She did not have to do this at all.
Parking: Large parking lot that is hardly ever full. The disabled parking spaces are next to the building while other parking is across an access lane that runs in front of the businesses in the complex.
Wheelchair accessibility: The wheelchair access is more that sufficient. My sister-in-law was pleased with the access.

I'm giving 2 stars because the food is amazing... when you can get it. My friend and I ordered food online yesterday via their website, during their confirmed open hours (the hours on the door confirmed it should have been open as well), we received texts confirming our order, then texts confirming it was ready to pick up. We drove there only to realize it was closed. As soon as we pulled up, I remarked "Is it even open??". The place was completely dark, but there was no sign on the door saying they were closed unexpectedly, just their hours. We both ordered almost $40 worth of food, so we waited a bit to see if someone would come and they never did. This is the second time it happened to my friend. I understand emergencies happen, but they could have at least put a sign or something on the door and disabled ordering on their website. They have great food but I can't risk it again. Not only did I not get my food, I had to file a chargeback with my bank, which is really inconvenient. Proceed to order online at your own risk.

Not 3 stars, more like 2 stars but I'll give it 3 and I'll tell you why. Where do I start... Walked in this afternoon, no customers, music blasting and fans at full spin. Nobody greeted me and had to ask where the menu was and what I'm supposed to do. Robin seemed nice but didn't seem very interested in serving. I ordered jerk chicken, sweet fries and cole slaw. She repeated the order mentioning onion rings so I corrected her it was sweet fries no problem. Never asked what I wanted to drink. Tried waving her down but had to approach her to get some water. Food arrived and instead of jerk chicken I ordered I received fried chicken. It was dry, the cole slaw was dry, but the sweet fries were great and the ONLY reason for 2 stars regarding food. Milkshake was good but not for $10. Ridiculous price. In all fairness they sent me home with some jerk chicken, still a little dry but it was ok. Over $40 spend and I'll never go back again.
I recently stopped by for take out.. It was top notch. Service, price wise, and taste.. When I'm in Tucson again, I will return there !!!!

The first time I went in. The Jerk Chicken was outstanding but the Macaroni was very dry and had no real flavor. I tried a second time and got the Jerk Chicken again and it tasted nothing like it did the first time. The Macaroni was not as dry but still had no flavor. I also ordered fried chicken and it was very dry and tasted like garbage

Janet & Ray’s offers fresh and perfect soul food dishes with great service and a modern vibe. A fantastic addition to Southern Arizona cuisine with a clean atmosphere and fantastic lunch special which is a great value / affordable menu option. The jerk sauce is worth the trip alone.

Every item is cooked to order and hot when it arrives at the table. The menu is constantly evolving. If there's something they had before that you don't see now, ask for it. They just might be able to accommodate you. Service is very personalized. The owner comes to your table personally to get to know you and share her passion for serving the community she lives in.
