I followed my nose here, the restaurant smelled incredible. The staff person (a redhead) was very nice when I asked what they had just cooked because it smelled great. She said it was biryani, so I got paneer biryani (spicy) and veggie pakoras. The pakoras were hot and fresh, though a bit too greasy. The biryani however was really disappointing- I realized the amazing smell came from the fried onions sprinkled on top 😅 the biryani itself was flavorless and really not spicy...
I’ve been here on and off over the years since my first year at uofa. They’ve been through a bit of a roller coaster in terms of quality, but recently they’ve been a pretty good contender with some of the other Indian cuisine I’ve had in the area, especially for their price point.

Pretty drab inside. That’s why I ordered for takeout. Mango lassi was great. Lamb vindaloo very good - I wish I had also ordered naan bread with it as it was way more sauce than could be eaten with the rice. I’d come again for authentic Indian flavor.
