Food was ok. My salmon was overdone, but the middle was good. They charge a 22% gratuity, which is insane and they also charge a $25 cake cutting fee. Top it all off the food made me sick. I won't be back.

New ownership (Jacki/Ted) take it from great to Awesome. The best Seafood in the Desert!
Make reservations as they have limited seating. This is a Tucson legend.
From the “extra dirty” Martinis, to the oysters (do the Oyster bar tasting appetizer) to the Sea Bass, to the Seafood soup .... all were fantastic! The Lobster Roll was also solid. Great wine and spirits list! Our server was fast, friendly and efficient. I esp love how they support local non-profits like Southern Arizona against slavery (supports local victims of trafficking)!
Loved it, and we will be back!

We have not been to Kingfisher in several years. The people are friendly, the server and bus people were attentive, and the food was served promptly.

Unfortunately, the meal (see photo) wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. I was surprised they charged us $5.00 for bread, BUT, it came not just with butter (which, regrettably was cold and hard when it arrived) but with an exquisite tapenade (that my wife liked so much that we ‘begged’ a couple of small containers to take home with us!!!), and in any event the baguette was superior in texture and flavor.

The clam chowder and the bisque were each quite good
I’d say the Clam Chowder at the Arizona Inn is much better, but the Arizona Inn Clam Chower was the absolutely best I have, EVER, had. So saying that Kingfisher’s isn’t quite as good is quite a compliment.

I asked them to add (it turns out 3) grilled shrimp to my Caesar salad (which is why it costs $22.00, instead, I guess, $17.00), and I am glad I did, as it was the BEST grilled shrimp I’ve had in a long time on a Caesar salad (and I include in this the grilled shrimp I get on the Caesar salads I get at Caffe Torino in Oro Valley).
I also liked the unusual croutons because they were more like slices of baguette than chunks of bread, and what I liked about them was that they are not hard as rocks as some croutons were.
Still, the Caesar salad was kind of odd. It came with a slice of lemon wedge, which I thought was for the Shrimp, so I squeezed it all over the salad.

Which, as it turned out was the only dressing on the Caesar Salad. It did have shaved parmesan as you’d expect, but being served with no Caesar dressing was probably a mistake (at least I hope it was). Still, I ate it, and was happy to finish it.

My friend who got the “Hawaiian Fish” said it was mahi mahi, and liked it ok. But, it wasn’t, apparently, anything to write home to Mom about.

Nor were the two salads. I tasted my wife’s Warm Cabbage Salad, and other than the fact that we were expecting shredded cabbage, but got chunks instead, my wife liked it, but I found the (what my wife identified as) fennel sooooo overpowering as to make it inedible. My wife said it wasn’t overpowering, so maybe it’s a matter of taste
but I actually like fennel, and have had fennel cream pasta in other places, so I guess I just found the cabbage salad not to my liking.

Kingfisher has been a Tucson institution for decades and decades and I hope it continues for another 50 years. But, I just found it not very much to my own liking for the $42.00 a person, before tip.

We had the fish and chips which were amazing as was the Cole Slaw. Our server was over the top as was the chocolate mousse dessert. The GM stopped by our table to check on the meal. Great touch!

The food is good and the service is phenomenal. I got the salmon and wasn't completely impressed, I would order something else next time. My date ordered the ribs and she loved them. The staff really seems to care and are very knowledgeable about the menu.

What a hidden gem this restaurant is! Tucked away on the south side of Grant (but use Speedway to get there right now), deceiving on the outside, you will be delighted by the fine dining experience they provide. Great food and congenial atmosphere, you feel like you're someone important! The decor is so perfect for the Tucson culture, making you think, 'So why didn't I know this place existed before?' Whether you're a native or just visiting for a weekend, you'll want to make this stop a priority. Keep up the good work, Kingfisher!

It's always great. But tonight, there was a corn starch thickener when there should have been a proper reduction. Great restaurants don't cut corners... and it affects the taste and trxture.

We enjoyed an excellent dinner. The scallop special was very good, and the longtime favorite Hawaii mahi was great. Interesting wine list, we had an excellent French chenin blanc.

Two of us sat down Friday at 1130 for lunch. We were greeted with a smile from the maitre'd, and sat immediately. Our waiter, Jared came over right away and got our drink order. He also told us about the daily special -- soft shell crab. We both went for that. He remained 100% attentive the whole time, and if that wasn't enough the owner came over to ask how we were doing.

The staff REALLY ROCKED IT on professionalism.

Drinks came out, and then the oyster appetizer -- a dozen oysters of two varieties. They were delicious. The liquor (in the oysters) was clean and free of grit. Presentation was on a bed of shaved ice with three sauces and we also got horseradish. Yum!

The soft-shell crab came with a crab cake and a cucumber salad. Just what the doctor ordered -- all keto/paleo/diabetic friendly.

Great food great service. It's a tad pricey but well worth it for a power lunch. We actually stayed an hour and a half... sorry, Jared ;-)
