This restaurant used to be called Taco Giro located on Tanque Verde near Catalina Hwy. It was terrible. We gave it about 3 chances, and then swore we'd never go back. When I saw the new name, La Herradura, I had hoped for new owners and way better food. But turns out, all they did was change the name, and it's worse than ever!I'm a foodie who eats out at a lot of different places, and I can say that this is the worst experience I've ever had. For starters, it's filthy. Food, grease and grim drips down the walls next to our booth, and the menus are dark with years of use and not ever being cleaned. The lights were so bright and harsh, I needed sunglasses and still had to shade my eyes from the glare. If there was ever a place that needed low lighting, it's this one. yeesh! The waiter was untrained, immature, and clueless. He had no idea what amber beer meant, when I tried to order a dark Mexican beer. Of course, he also got our orders wrong, but we were so grossed out by the food that we just wanted to go. The salsa tasted like cleaner chemicals. The tamales were all masa and little to no meat. The masa tasted like cardboard. My salad greens were so wilted and gross I wouldn't eat it.This place needs to go away. Shame on the owner!

This is a review of the newer La Herradura restaurant in Tucson Estates that took the place of Los Nopales. We didn't like their enchilada sauce or their salsa. Our burritos were on the skimpy side, size wise. Unpleasant ambiance with horrible bright white and glaring lighting...I should have worn sunglasses. Compared to Los Nopales, this place doesn't come close.

This is definitely my second home kitchen! The Mexican food is genuinely from old school Mexican mom, so far every single dish tasted amazing. The service is great and the waiters are pleasantly nice all the time. Well kept restaurant and clean. If you are looking for the real deal then this Mexican restaurant is for you.

Authentic Mexican restaurant on the Eastside of town. The food is authentic Mexican. Chili Verde and Chili Rojo are my favorites. When you sit, to start, you always receive a bowl of salsa and beans with your tortilla chips. The menu is filled with many delicious entrees, including many fish dishes. Staff members are very friendly and nice. Do not judge the food by their location. A welcomed restaurant on the Eastside of town.

They could improve by serving authentic Mexican cuisine instead of the tasteless, cold, bland, "hospital food ". We're not all old, and some of us still have taste buds.

we went to the new place on Tanque Verde and Catalina hwy. Service was great and the food was better. I like spicy food and often it doesn't live up to the name... not true here. The Diablo shrimp was so hot I was sweating and my nose was running. I was so happy.Side note, they had live music.. a cowboy singing a variety of music and strumming a guitar. He wasn't overly intrusive and we really enjoyed him. I've got nothing but good things to say about our experience.

My friends and I made a wild choice to stop hiking and head for mexican food. While it didn't prepare us for more hiking it sure did hit the spot. I got cheese enchiladas, we got a ton of guacamole and my friends got burritos and tacos. We ate a TON of chips and enjoyed a couple of margaritas. It certainly seems like it a place for locals, there seemed to be many regulars already seated for happy hour. The service was friendly and brought out our food quickly. A delicious stop but I would suggest heading here once you are a ready for a nap!

It was Saturday night. I'd been out shopping. It was windy, and I started to have mad allergies. The kind of allergies where you don't even want to leave the house. So I ordered Albondigas soup. It came piping hot. Delicious broth with carrot celery onion, rice onions cilantro on the side. Brilliant more room for tender meatballs. I added lemon and cayenne. It saved my life. Generous side of rice beans and tortilla chips.

Great everyday Mexican food. Staff is very understanding of my special needs son. I'm not impressed with their seafood but everything else is good- even their cocktails. This place is our regular go-to on the weekends.

The food was good, the flan was divine! We stopped in during our 10 day camping adventure, of which we spent the vast majority of our time near this restaurant. So it was a natural choice. My husband had a burro, which he liked , but he didn't like their variety of green sauce.I had chicken enchiladas and the were tasty, I liked my red sauce, I always ask for it on the side, in case I don't.Chips and salsa and service was immediate and plentiful. We ordered flan for desert. It was amazing. It had a distinct egg custard taste. So yummy ! I will go back, if just for that! It was very pleasant here, friendly and greet service!

I'll begin by saying this wasn't the worst Mexican restaurant I've been to, but I don't think it's worth a second visit. I went there for breakfast with my neighbor since he insisted on us going there, and at first I was delighted by their drink menu. I'd say the entire menu is very reminiscent of the Mexican restaurant Tequila's on 22nd street, but everything on this menu was in both English and Spanish but no font differentiation which made it difficult to read quickly. The chips and bean dip (?) were really good, but the salsa was a bit on the salty side. I ordered a shrimp quesadilla and two flautas and the waitress didn't seem to understand what I meant by flautas even though they are a listed menu item so I said taquitos, but then they came out with two regular tacos. The carne asana was very fatty and under seasoned, but the shredded chicken was excellent. The shrimp quesadilla could use more cheese to hold it together so it doesn't fall apart, but the shrimp had good flavor. The waitress asked my neighbor if he wanted a refill on his coffee but completely skipped over me even though my drink was almost empty, then only offered a refill after it had been empty for 15 minutes. As you can see I have a few complaints and there is a lot of opportunity for this restaurant but they do have a lot of potential. Hopefully they'll still be around in a year for me to maybe give it another shot and hopefully they will have made some improvements by then. So overall not the worst, but I don't think they're worth their current price point.

We loved the food both times we came here. Extra star for the food. Both times we have had to ask someone else to find our server at least once. This time she disappeared with my card for 15 minutes. They're sneaky in that they ask for drink orders right away and bring them before they abandon you entirely. Without drinks we would have walked out both times. When we came in, 5 staff people were standing behind the bar looking like customers are a huge imposition. One of them reluctantly showed us to a table.Once we got our food, things brightened up, but no one asked us how our food was, checked on drink refills, or seemed to care about our experience at all. It took 20 minutes with empty plates and glasses before we managed to flag someone down to get our server to have her bring our bill. Again when we left all the staff people were behind the bar looking put upon. Customers are not wanted since they expect the staff to stop standing around. . No one said thank you or come again or anything at all when we left.I don't care how good the food is, the management and staff have said very loudly that they don't want my business.
