I have visited on numerous occasions and while never dissatisfied with the service it could easily be more accommodating. No matter who's present at the store, there always seems to be a disingenuous disconnect vibe that is simply unmistakable. I never feel truly welcomed here and I've certainly never felt remotely valued here as a guest. I've always been made to feel that my mere presence is bothersome and unwelcomed.
With several visits behind us, we've found the food decent but never overly impressive.
The store is always clean and appears well maintained and cared for.
I think pricing is decent but there's no factory direct great savings to be found here that justifies the trip vs. simply buying at a grocery store.
Despite being a tortilla store, IMHO I've found the tamales to be the best featured item here. They always seem to impressively hit the spot.
I'll always stop by if in passing, but I won't be making a special trip anytime soon.

Every single time I come home to Tucson I visit the tortilla shop first. I can always get warm tortillas right off of the press. Best thing in the world.

My wife picked up a half dozen green corn tamales to take home a few days ago, and we were looking forward to eating them, because last year's green corn tamales at La Mesa Tortillas were delicious. Unfortunately, the tamales were extremely dry, even breaking apart into pieces when you cut them with a fork. Don't know what has changed since last year, but we won't be selecting green corn tamales there again, unless the tamale moisture improves substantially. Has the recipe changed? Has the cook changed? Something is just not right. Also, the tamales are very small for the price you pay. I'm sorry to say we'll be shopping elsewhere for better-tasting and larger green corn tamales that are moist, not dry.

This place is crap green chili tamale is loaded with sugarđ€ź who puts sugar in their tamales? They do!!! Refried beans were undercooked & bland tasting & after I got home my dinner was thrown all over in the plastic container after unwrapping tamale it was small & the cochitos were basically just a big soft ginger cookie not anything spectacular & also bland I threw the rest out but after eating this food I felt like was going to vomit just plain nasty & most of the tortillas & chips there are made with unhealthy ingredients so make sure you know what theyâre in them the healthiest tortilla chips I buy are the Simple Truth from Fryâs all organic & no flour which taste better than a lot of these Mexican places with less carbs & better for your health too nope Iâll never go back there again!!!!

Corn and chili tamales had really hard chewy dry corn on the edge so I had to spit those out every time. The beef ones were awesome. I love the olive in the middle- reminds me of home further south.
Grabbed some tortillas and they were also delicious.

The little girl that works there as a cashier is so rude! We went once and she was rude. We thought we would try again today and she was so rude again. We will not be going back as long as sheâs working there! Customer service goes along ways!
Was in Tucson for work and this place was conveniently next to where we were working. I was excited to try it because I'm a sucker for a good tamale. The food was pretty good, but I've never experienced a tamale that gave me as much trouble to unwrap as these ones. Whoever makes these needs to re-learn how to wrap them. Also, the girl behind the counter treated my coworker and I like we were idiots. She seemed rather put out that we were even standing at her counter. As overpriced as this place is, i would expect better service AT LEAST. I can go to Winco and find tamales in their deli counter that aren't half bad for half the price. Never again.

Iâve been coming here ever since I was a little girl.. letâs say about more than 20 years? I went here today with my mom to the new location on Broadway and I love the new space. We always love your tortillas, tamales, food etc. but this past visit today was the worst ever. The girl that was working the counter was helpful and kind. I asked for a quesadilla (lightly toasted) I got my food and it looked like charcoal/burnt. I went up to the male working in front of the counter on the phone. I waited patiently and told him that I asked for a quesadilla lightly toasted. He wanted to argue and said âit is, itâs like that to melt the cheeseâ didnât offer to remake it until I pulled the other side of the quesadilla and it was full of burnt. He said he will remake it and comes back and says ânext time tell them you want it lightly toastedâ I said I âI did?â And he said âwell I donât see the issue with the last quesadilla it was FLAWLESS but here you goâ and I walked out. I was shocked. Out of all my years here I have NEVER been treated like this. Whatâs the purpose about trying to argue about YOUR mistake? I was nothing but kind the entire time. I get accidents happen but all you had to do was apologize and remake the food and move on. I am sorry for posting this because the owners are always so kind as well as the red head lady, and the young girl working the counter today. But if I was an owner, I would want to know how my staff is treating my long term customers. I will take the extra drive to go to a different location just to avoid him.
