This is our go to for Japanese and a fun easy dinner. The portions are sane and the sushi as fresh as what you find in NYC and LA. We are repeat fans.
Our first time dining at OBON was a delight. Their craft cocktails were unique and quite tasty, and the grilled shishito pepper appetizer was excellent. Our group enjoyed both the Tuna and the Albacore Poke (outstanding), as well as the Scallop and the Spicy Tuna Crispy rice (just ok). The Spicy Albacore Maki was also excellent. Would definitely recommend OBON and we'll be back again soon.
The food tasted very delicious and the service was great! We ordered nigiri, crispy shrimp, and sushi rolls and sat outside. Great ambiance.
The best Ramen in town!! Absolutely amazing!! The freshest Sushi and super delicious!! Overall an A+ experience
Obon has the best sushi in Tucson. Lots of other items on the menu are really good as well, like the cucumber salad, but the sushi is amazing.
They sat us right away which was very nice. Our waiter at first seemed in a bit of a rush, but it could have been because he seemed to be the only waiter. As dinner progressed he became relaxed and more friendly. The food vs portion size vs cost was perfect. We happened to show up towards the end of happy hour. So that was very nice.
Below average sushi. Poor sake selection. I went a few times years ago, and now I know why I have not returned and will not in the future.
The food was good but I ordered a ramen and cucumber salad and it came out to 40 dollars. I don't think it was 40 dollars good. i just wanted ramen to go. This is definitely a place where you pay for the atmosphere but the staff was awesome.
Phenomenal bao buns and delicious ramen. Highly recommend the spicy shrimp bao bun and spam with kimchi bao bun
Recommend to try at least once, not sure if I'll go back.

They lowered the lights way too much way too early in the evening. The menu was hard to read and the food was just ok. For the cost of the meal I would have expected tastier.
Good happy hour deals.
I’ve been coming to OBON for over 3yrs now. During my last visit, June 2025, it became clear how much the service has declined. My waiter was very unprofessional and not pleasant; he made us feel during the entire meal we were bothering him. I asked him questions about the menu and his response was to ‘read the menu’ - really?!
I also had to continue to ask other staff for water refills because my waiter was never around.
This place is not the same place it used to be and I will not be returning.
I went to Obon on a Monday night. The bar vibe was mellow and the atmosphere was just what I was looking for after a long work day. Unfortunately I was overcome with food poisoning from my lunch earlier that day, and the staff were so nice following suit. They packaged up my food, discretely helped me to close out, and even ushered me to my Lyft. Later at midnight when I was feeling well, I finally got to taste the food. WOW! The food was incredible and the Shiro Maki roll was mind blowing with the yuzukosho vinaigrette! It’s unfortunate that I didn’t get to eat the in the restaurant and see the actual plating (which I’m sure would’ve been stunning!) Next time when I’m in town for work, I’m coming back and getting the full experience. Shout again to the amazing female team who rallied and ensured I got back to my hotel safely!!! OBON is a must dine experience in downtown Tucson!
The food here is very good. They also have a tiki drink on the menu, it's delicious!
