I really enjoy Greek food, and this did not disappoint.Grilled chicken, low-carb platter, greek salad, and dolmades. The chicken breast to extremely tender, juicy, and seasoned perfectly. Loved the added cooked mushrooms and broccoli. Very fresh pitas. You can't go wrong with the greek salad: fresh veggies, kalmata olives for salt, and olive oil.
This restaurant is fantastic. Ordered 2 gyro platters to go yesterday, and they were packed. The food was ready in 15 minutes and was outstanding. I highly recommend ?
Had a great father's day meal. We had both the regular and vegetarian mousaka. Both were delicious, though the vegetarian could use a little more spicing. The flaming cheese saganaki was fun and delicious. Pita and hummus both fresh made.
Opa! This Place is Legit! We visited on a Friday evening at about 6:00 pm. This restaurant is located on the end of a strip mall with neon signage that's easy to spot after sunset from busy Broadway Blvd. There is a large bar to the right as you enter. The eatery was pretty full and we were seated in just a few minutes. This place holds a lot of diners with tables fairly close together and it is pretty loud. We did consider dining outdoors on their patio, where they do have decorative and functional gas heaters, but it was a little too cool for us. Unlike many restaurants where a host seats you and a server attends to you during your visit, workers here seem to do it all to meet customer needs. The person that seats you may take your drink order, another person may bring those drinks to you, someone else takes your food order, another brings your appetizers and so on and every worker asks if there is anything else you need. It seems chaotic, but service is actually fast and you're never rushed.I opted for a beer from a good selection of reasonably priced tap and bottle beers. Wine and cocktail choices are plentiful and also priced well. My wife went with her usual Diet Coke. We were surprised when we were brought a complimentary starter plate (Meze) of hummus, tzatziki, cucumber and pita which were all very tasty. We couldn't pass up on the Flaming Saganaki for an appetizer. Flamed tableside with herb leaves, tomato and lemon, still sizzling when they set it down, accompanied with soft, warm, slightly chewy, nutty flavor pita bread wedges. The saltiness of the hot gooey caramelized cheese along with the lemon on some pita was a great taste sensation. Ordering our entrees was difficult as they have all the classic Greek offerings, but we zeroed in on gyros. My wife ordered the Classic Greek Gyro Sandwich with a Greek Salad side. Greek Fries are an alternate choice. I chose the Gyro Platter which came with lemony Greek rice, Greek salad, pita and tzatziki. Even with as busy as this restaurant was, our meals came out quickly. All the classic Greek salad components with an excellent dressing - not too much vinegar and not stingy with the feta cheese. The rice was perfect with just the right amount of lemon. The pita was warm and soft. We were totally impressed with the gyro meat which is cut off of rotisserie spits. We suspect they make their own as it was not as smoothly processed as most and had a great texture. It was cut much thicker than any we've had before, almost resembling sliced steak. A perfect mix of lamb and beef, garlic and spices and just the right amount of fat, allowed to crisp a bit on the spit. And the amount of meat on both entrees was enough for two people. We brought enough home for a full lunch the next day. This will become a regular place for us as the food and service is great. The challenge for us will be to order something other than gyros. You will not be disappointed dining at Opa's Best!
Got the gyro and hummus. I was pretty disappointed in the hummus. It was both more mealy and runny than other hummus that I have had, it also wasn't garnished with spices and oil like hummus typically is. I added a picture of how it came to give an idea. But the gyro was great, and the tzatziki sauce was well done. I'd go back but just avoid the hummus next time.
Update 4-13-23. We visited again today for lunch. For starters, we ordered the Calamari. The calamari itself was tender and cooked perfectly with a nice seafood flavor, but we felt the breading was way too thick and heavy and detracted from the calamari. We would not get this again. My wife and I both had the Classic Gyro Pita Sandwich with the Greek Salad which was on the Lunch Menu. Same size sandwich and salad as served for dinner, but at a lower price. Once again, this gyro is THE BEST!
We visited during the busy 4th Street fair. This was an oasis from the crazy crowds. The food was delish and the service was top notch. This was one of my best meals in Tucson, and by far, the best service.
Very good Greek food but not the best we have ever had Perhaps this was because we did takeout. Anyway, it was fine.
Yes!!! I managed a Greek restaurant in the 70's , and this is the real deal. The spanakopita was incredible. This is our second time going there, as we live in Sedona. You will not be disappointed.
Partner declared the gyro meat the best he's ever tasted, served atop a true traditional Greek salad. My entree was a hearty portion of perfectly prepared moussaka, accompanied by a Greek salad. Service was excellent.

This was our first time here and we were very pleased. I got the salmon dinner and it was excellent. The Greek lemon potatoes and green beans were very tasty as was the Greek salad. My wife got the gyro platter and she was quite impressed. The service was prompt and everyone we dealt with was professional and polite. My only complaint would be that the restaurant is pretty loud. We will come back but it will be at lunch when it might be a bit quieter. The restaurant is clean. There is plenty of parking and it's easy to find
Really enjoyed visiting Opa's for a meal today. The hummus, tzatziki and cucumber plate with pita was a delicious beginning to the meal! I tried the avoglemono soup, and my husband had the meatball soup - both delicious! For our meals, my husband had the gyro plate and I enjoyed the chicken plate. Everything was seasoned to "Oh my God, you HAVE to taste this!" perfection! We enjoyed excellent service while there, and felt the facilities were clean, inviting and enjoyable. Definitely recommend!
The decor is very pleasant, with lots of wait staff! Servers are all quite young, but very well trained and courteous . The lentil soup, the hummus, and the spanakopita are all much too salty ! I won't go back... unless for just a Greek salad. Husband had a gyro and felt the same.
The food was absolutely impeccable! Service was great! Very attentive! It's more a cafeteria style place on a strip mall in Tuscon. The combination plate is a must have, but is very big in size. Bring your hungry bunch and a mean appetite and you are bound to enjoy the delicacies and devour the Greek Islands and the culture as you are taken into this amazing place!! Enjoy!!
The gyros were excellent. The fries were golden and impressively crispy, but if you like the pillowy potato in the middle you might not like these as much. The lamb dolmades were okay. I could tell the filling had been over worked and over mixed because it was pretty solid. (E.g., Ki d of tough.) It tasted good, though. The texture just seemed wrong. The avgelemono soup was completely subpar. Very finely shredded chicken as if it was put through a food processor. It reminded me of egg drop soup because it didn't seem like the egg was only the yolks and wasn't incorporated into the soup properly. (The egg yolks--no whites!--are supposed to be tempered and added slowly to thicken the broth and add body and richness to the soup.) There didn't seem to be hardly any rice in it. And the lemon appeared to be absent based on the flavor. (I couldn't taste lemon at all.) My recommendation: stick to the gyros and skip the soup.
