Was embarrassed by the bad quality of food and service for breakfast hosting a visiting diplomat. With only a couple of other tables our breakfast took 30 minutes to arrive, with the hash browns arriving 10 minutes later to go with eggs that were cold and rubbery. Toast was cold, one person got their food 15 minutes after everyone else. I had an upset stomach from the huevos rancheros (also cold). I will never bring visitors here for breakfast again.

Must have been a bad night for the cook. Guacamole had no flavor. The salsa was transparent and tasted like water. We sent the salsa back and second batch was better but we had to add limes cholula and salt to get some flavor. My wife’s salad had rotted slimy lettuce at the bottom. My “medium” steak was rare and barely room temp. The steak had a “demi glaze” that tasted like nothing. The hot wings were good though. We only complained about the salsa and didn’t want to say anything else. Virtually a complete disappointment. Worst meal ever at a Marriott. (They are usually good…)

My brother and I visited the property while we were picking his son up from college. There was only one person working at check-in who was very busy (first understaffing problem). We were not given any information on our concierge-level room other than the room number. It took us a few minutes in the elevator to realize that we have to use the key to access our floor. Luckily one of the few staff working was able to help us, but this information should have been provided on check in. After we got to the room, we called down to the desk since the room and bathroom were smaller than what was shown on the website. We also inquired as to the location and hours of the concierge room (where there are usually drinks and snacks, hence the extra $60 for the room per night). We were told that not only was there no concierge room due to a lack of staffing, but the restaurant in the hotel was closed. We asked why we were paying extra for a concierge room if there was no concierge service, and apparently that was difficult for the one person manning the desk to comprehend, so we asked to be moved to another room not on the concierge level. This room was $50 less a night and also larger and nicer, WTF??? They also did not provide cleaning service, although the housekeeping staff, bless their hardworking hearts, was very good about bringing up extra towels, etc. We actually felt sorry for them and how hard they were pushed because of the management's lack of concern regarding their customers. In a nutshell, terrible check-in experience, but once settled in our room, except for the fact that it wasn't cleaned, the staff was very accommodating. It was definitely not worth the price of a night's stay and we will not be staying there again even through we are both Marriot BonVoy members.
I had reached out to the hotel with some questions about suites and they were always helpful and friendly. The hotel is really clean and I love the whole atrium interior. We got a suite and love the extra space and the AC works well when it’s 257 degrees outside. The bed is awesome but it’s pretty low to the ground and a little tough to get up off the bed. The hotel is right next to a bunch of restaurants and night life and it’s great getting to walk to party rock at the bars and walk back to our room and not worry about Uber/Lyft stuff. I am a Wyndham diamond member but tired of their horrible hotel brands so looking forward to building on our bonvoy loyalty credit card.
I am staying here on a Thursday night for business. This location is very cool if you are interested in the college bar scene. Ok on the 9th floor out of 9 and the bar music across the street is loud. I’m here on business so tonight isn’t for me. If I was here on the weekend looking for a good time, this is the place to stay for out of town people. Tonight. .... this isn’t what I am looking for. Standard Marriott, clean, a little old. But it will do.
Does noise bother you? Ruin your sleep? Then don’t stay here. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon to tour the U of AZ. The noise from University Ave kept me awake until the wee hours. Finally fell asleep only to be awakened by beeping from vehicles backing up. That reoccurred every morning. The noise from University Ave was bad every night but definitely worse on Sat. I’ll be needing to stay in town frequently the next 4-5 years. I asked at the desk about how to book a quiet room (height is irrelevant) and it appears I stumped the desk clerk. He finally said “maybe, rooms 1-9.” Yikes!
The staff were very friendly and helpful. My only complaint is the fact we had adjoining room and the other room was extremely loud. Called front desk and they had to send security to quiet them down at 1:30 am. Can’t wait to come back in a few days!
Great food
Just had appetizers for a Foundation Dinner, they were pretty tasty. Nice ambience.
Almost as good as the original guadalahara grill.
