Samurai Sombrero is that unexpected foodie heaven moment you didn’t know you needed — bold mural walls, neon sushi glow, industrial food hall energy — and then boom… vegan sushi that absolutely puts it at the top for me. The rolls are fresh, beautifully plated, and not an afterthought (which matters). Creamy avocado, perfect rice texture, that clean soy dip — it hits. It’s tucked inside American Eat Co., so the whole space is buzzing, casual, unfiltered, and vibey in the best way. You can pull up for sushi, grab a drink, wander the hall, and make a whole night out of it. For plant-based sushi lovers especially? This spot is elite. Total vibe. 🍣🔥

These guys are not able to run basic restaurant operations. When I was here, there was a wave of many people all asking for refunds because the team working was unable to make any food and was working at a crawling pace. Even just refunding my order took around 15 minutes.

We've been enjoying Samurai Sombrero ever since they used to have their food truck back on 22nd & Pantano. We were thrilled when they moved much closer to us.
Gabby is extremely personable and remembers our names and faces just like many of her other regulars too. That alone in the experience makes the food all the more enjoyable.
You really cannot go wrong with any roll they serve because in my honest opinion, both Gabby and Chuy are thee place to go for Mexican Sushi in Tucson. It's fresh, it's flavorful, and will keep you coming back for more.

5 out of 5 stars
Samurai Sombrero is hands-down my favorite sushi spot in all of Tucson! They have an amazing vegan sushi menu that is waaay more than just a plain cucumber roll (though they have that and it’s good). They have genuinely fun vegan options.
The Death Free Foodie roll (whatever magic is in that one—it’s incredible!), the sweet potato roll, and especially the fried avocado roll are absolutely delicious. I could eat them every day if I could! I wish I could come here more often because it’s just that good.
The sushi bar is tucked inside American Eat Co. on Fourth Avenue, with plenty of parking and a shared space with other great spots. The atmosphere is lively, fun, and welcoming—such a cool vibe.
Huge props to the team for being so accommodating to vegans. Definitely 5 out of 5 stars for the incredible rolls and overall experience. Highly recommend to anyone craving amazing sushi in Tucson!

We had a great experience eating here! Service was running behind but they were completely aware and compensated by bringing our table an order of edamame. We ordered multiple rolls and every single one was AMAZING! The owner was so kind and brought my kids a little treat after and that was just as good. I will definitely be coming back!

WOW!! I ordered the Ceviche & Sonora Roll as well as the lobster popcorn roll, and the death free foodie roll. They were all amazing, but the sonora roll really stood out to me this time around because of the hamachi, tuna, crab, and shrimp tempura combo that blew me out of the park. Definitely a must visit for Tucson locals, out of towners wanting an amazing mexican Sushi experience !!

I get sushi here often, and it's always been fresh and delicious. I've tried numerous rolls and have liked all of them, especially the Mexican Roll, the La Frida Roll, the Valley Roll, and the Heart Attack Roll (my new fave). Also, the staff is super friendly, especially the person who takes and drop offs the orders. They go out of their way to ensure you're having a good experience. I highly recommend!

after asking if any of the rolls were gluten free, the woman behind the counter took such good care of me! we had a brief conversation about how troubling it is to go out to eat while being gluten free. she made sure to get me gluten free soy sauce and followed up with me to make sure my sushi was to my liking! i felt so taken care of and she made my day!!

The best vegan sushi you will find! Finally a vegan sushi option that isn’t just cucumber avocado and rice. Definitely worth the trip for all vegans!
