This place served sushi that is half-off but it was clearly not good because it made me and my husband sick. I do not recommend going here.

Poor experience overall starting with the entrance they have poorly kept goldfish that were dying and floating upside down at the top with withering fins which pretty much set the tone for the rest of the restaurant. Atmosphere feels dusty and grimey. Sushi itself was gross, not fresh at all. Service was subpar as well server did not say hello just asked what we wanted to drink right off the bat. Did not come to check on us unless we waved him down or nearby to ask for check.

I've tried to give this place multiple attempts and without fail every time I've come they always forget my order or it takes an extremely long time to get my order ( 50 minutes). The place is chaotic.

Shogun Has Potential but Needs Modern Updates

Shogun offers a dining experience with both strengths and weaknesses. While the restaurant could benefit from modern upgrades and greater transparency about its policies, it does have some notable highlights worth mentioning.

Pros:
• Daily Sushi Roll Specials: Shogun offers great value with daily specials on sushi rolls. For example, menu items 1 through 5 are half off on Mondays
• Las Vegas Roll & Sashimi: The Las Vegas roll is a standout item, and the sashimi, while made from farm-raised salmon, is fresh and enjoyable given the region’s limitations. For a desert location, the quality is commendable.
• Good Value for Select Items: For what they have to work with, the sushi and sashimi quality is solid, and the specials make it more affordable for diners seeking a good deal.

Cons:
• Outdated Atmosphere: The space feels cramped and humid, with older décor that could use significant modernization to enhance the dining experience.
• Restroom Facilities: While there are separate restrooms for men and women, each only has a single stall, often leading to inconvenient wait times.
• Inconsistent Service Fees: While service fees were previously added to bills exceeding $100, this policy seems to be inconsistently applied, which may confuse diners.
• Limited Spicy Ponzu Sauce: While their sauces are flavorful, the portions of spicy ponzu sauce are smaller than expected, which can be disappointing for fans of bold flavors.

Overall Impression:

Shogun has its strengths, particularly with its daily sushi roll specials and certain menu items, but there is room for improvement. With updates to its atmosphere, restroom facilities, and clearer service policies, it could offer a much better experience for its diners. For now, it’s a good spot for those looking for a deal or familiar with its quirks.

Hit-or-miss food and service. You never know what you’re going to get. Sometimes fresh tasting and sometimes tastes like warm-up leftovers. Seems like the servers are specially trained to ignore trying to get their attention to get your order in, receive the food, and get the check. ALL CALL IN ORDERS ALSO TAKE PRIORITY OVER YOUR OWN FOOD ORDER - The food often takes forever and you often see people who came in a half hour after you did get their food way before you do. You can see people’s orders waiting for long periods at the counter waiting for the server to bring it to your table. When it’s good, it’s good. When it’s bad, you won’t be coming back.

I visited shogun sushi November 16 for the first time with 3 of us all together.
Just for the people who want to know about the quality of the sushi here it is.
We ordered a 2 California rolls, Mariposa roll, Tucson roll and chicken yakisoba and dessert. The California roll was one of the best I ever had in Tucson.i seen that other reviewers didn’t like the cucumber and rice in the sushi. I think they made changes because the cucumber was fresh and the rice was perfectly cooked and tasted great. The mariposa roll was also really tasty. It had so much flavor and texture. The fish inside this roll was delicious. The Tucson roll was terrible. It had too much cream cheese and mayo. That’s all that was tasted upon biting into it. The chicken yakisoba was mediocre my sister said the chicken was rubbery and had no flavor. She did like the noodles. The sushi is good but an overpriced but good. The Tucson roll wasn’t comped but they did give us a discount on it which was appreciated. Our waiter was awesome his name was Hayden. Very informative of the menu and polite. Sushi and dessert took forever to come out. Also the walls are dirty and it kind of smells like mildew. Overall we paid 82 dollars which I thought was pricey.

I had the worst experience at the place of business

Arriving for a takeout order , I informed cashier I seen ants.
further investigating noted ants in food. I called to speak to manager. He laughed, proceeded to say we showed you the food nothing we can do. Proceeds to hang up in my face.

Not only was it unprofessional no acknowledgement of ants and was very rude.

I would never recommend this restaurant. Erin the manager has no customer service and wanted to call police for trespassing. I wasnt trespassing when I bought it.

Horrible experience, food and unclean.

This is a nice little hide away, tucked in the corner of a strip mall behind Denny’s. The staff are young and ambitious. The service was excellent and attentive. The menu is diverse. The rolls are good, but some are modified from more traditional, but tasty. Appears popular with locals and fair priced. Environment is friendly with shogunate accents. Recommend for basic well rounded experience.
