First visit to los Algodones and first visit to Los Molcas. We went there for breakfast, while my wife was getting dental work done. I was completely amazed at the quality of the food that came out of the tiny kitchen in the back. I can’t wait to go back again. The prices were excellent. What we paid for two meals there would normally only get us one meal stateside. It helped that I was with somebody who knows the owner and has eaten there many many times. The sign out front says it all. If you don’t like the food, you don’t pay for it. I can’t imagine anybody not liking the food there.
Average food, had plenty of chips and variety of salsa while waiting to place the order, my husband had grilled chicken and beer, I had 2 fish tacos, paid $18, the amount came off the top of waiter's head, no prices anywhere, no regular menu, just some sheets of paper with name of dishes hanging on the wall. Overall, not the best experience, would not recommend unless you are very adventurous
The owner of Los Molcas also owns the dental office in behind. I had a great experience at both. They start out your lunch with a bowl of chips and 4 bowls of different types of salsas! I ate at Los Molcas at least five times, as I felt comfortable and their food is the freshest in town. Each evening, they barbecue a number of chickens on the grill at the front of the restaurant. They even blended my shrimp cocktail as I'd just had dental work done at their office and needed something that was soft to eat! :-)
I’m not sure if the older man waiting the tables and dragging people in to the place is the owner but either way he is very rude ! the food was alright not life changing don’t order a margarita it was neon green and he tried to pass it off as an authentic mexican margarita like i have never had one before ! i took one sip then couldn’t drink it ! my husband ordered ceviche and got shrimp cocktail and when he pointed it out to the same man waiting our table he replied i know but left said oh well ?? my husband ate it but not what he wanted ? no prices no menu and the charged us 25$ for two street tacos and my husbands wrong lunch order ! n it that 25$ is a lot but i guess it is for two baby tacos and a wrong plate ? our biggest beef is that the man was beyond rude !!!! next level rude ! don’t eat here go to lupitas for yummy fish and shrimp tacos ! don’t support this business especially with an owner who likes to rip off tourists !!!!
5/5. Chicken Soup was the best I have ever had. All the food was freshly prepared and authentic. What a find! I will visit again if it’s the LORDs will.
Stopped in because of the great reviews and promised if you don’t like you don’t pay, what could go wrong? Well we were seated right away, chips and salsas brought out quickly but then nothing. Three other tables were seated after us, they all got drinks and placed orders. Finally our order was taken and then while everyone else finished their meals we asked what’s up. I guess they just forgot our order. I ordered the chili releno and my husband got a beef chimichanga. My chili releno was doused in tomato sauce that tasted horrible, I scraped all of that off and the rest was ok. I had one margarita that was not very good, obviously no fresh lime juice so that was disappointing as well. My husbands meal he said was ok but not great. And even if you don’t like your food expect to pay anyway. I think they make up the prices depending on how you look. $23 US for our meal. Would not return.
The absolute best restaurant in Los Algodones Family owned and run for years The owner is top shelf Great food for a great price
We’re not strangers to good all ole southwest Mexican eats We’ve eaten here 6 or 7 times now in the last few years. Coming to Los Algedones for dental work, a little shopping for some artsy pieces for our new home and a quick retreat from the hustle. Love the food! Love the price! Just all around authentic (of course, we’re in Mexico duh) and homemade deliciousness. If you’re ever in Los Algedones, it’s a must. Joe and Jasmine DeVoto
