New to town and found this gem on a search for ice cream. Mel & John welcomed us like we were family. They gave us the history of the business along with things to do and places to visit in the area. We decided to order the deep fried ice cream with the works. It's a large scoop of vanilla ice cream, deep fried, placed in a deep fried flour tortilla (dashed with cinnamon & sugar) then topped with hot fudge, caramel, and strawberry topping... the whipped cream and sprinkles. Also got a bag of the sweet & salty kettle popcorn to take home. This was right up my alley. Talk about deliciousness!!! Ice cream was fresh, shell was crispy and bursting with flavor We missed the State Fair of Texas this year. Mel's Place did not disappoint. We plan to bring our parents when they come to visit. So happy to meet you both. We'll definitely recommend and obviously return!
