My dad and I were driving sround exploring imperial dam when we realized it was lunch time. Bbq sounds good sp we went to smoking hen house. The owner happened to be working behind thr bar and he serviced us for our entire visit. Not only did he do his job very well he took thr time to engage in authentic conversation.
Then the food came out!!! And an experience that I thought couldn't get better instantly did with my taste buds screaming praise!!
If you are in the area this is the place to go check out!!

Extra star only for not actually making me sick. My guests and I ordered a selection of meat and sides. Nobody was impressed. Nothing was hot. Chicken bland and stringy. Brisket so-so. Ribs meh. Potato salad was unpeeled undercooked potatoes with barbeque sauce/mayo dressing for a completely unappealing look. I noticed nobody at the other tables had more than a couple of bites of theirs either. Frozen french fries like you get at any fast food joint -- they couldn't even make an effort and buy frozen steak fries?

I honestly wonder if the owner has only ever seen barbeque on TV and not tasted any.

Loud foulmouthed group of drunk men and women a couple tables over. Like they only discovered swear words at age 40 and had to make up for lost time. I'm a grownup and been known to cuss now and then so it takes a fair amount to annoy me.

A really depressing evening out. No reason to come back ever.

I waited in line for about 2 hours at the Barbeque and Brew fest in Yuma and after that wait got ribs so bad they were inedible. They were undercooked, and a couple of them having no meat at all. They were charred, black and burnt, yet raw inside and with no flavor anyway. I understand if your stand became overwhelmed with people at the fest, but instead of turning people away, you charged us $90 for 3 meals that we threw away! Shame on you!!!!! If it hadn't been so late already, we would have returned the food but couldn't because after standing up for 2 hours waiting, we took the food and immediately went home (it was already 6pm by then). If I could give you negative stars I would.

We bought the loaded nacho from the vendor at the BBQ and Brews ... not as advertised 2 lbs if lucky mostly chips and not worth $20.

You have to try the apple slaw!! Especially during the summer. So good and refreshing. Smokin Hen House has some unique flavors that keep us coming back for more!

First thing on a Saturday morning and we had an enjoyable breakfast. The service was great and very nice and the ambiance… well were the only ones in there first thing so that was extra special. 😉

We had a very nice first time visit.

Ribs were cooked well and very tender. The sauce was terrible, it tasted like it was mostly corn syrup with a few spices and a drop or two of vinegar and tomato juice.
The brisket was very disappointing, tough and dry. And again, that useless sauce.
The potato salad was equally disappointing, the potatoes were undercooked and hard, the dressing was bland.
Over $60 US for two people with only one drink, a draft beer.
Not worth going back unless serious improvements are made to food quality

We had a group of 25 plus people. The staff was super friendly and nice. The food was really good. They did their best to serve us all in a timely manner. Would go there again, and recommend it to others.

The things that brought us back.. the chicken bomb and Texas Twinkie are no longer available. The nacho’s… meh, the brisket was tough in a couple of orders. Chicken tenders were huge.. only ketchup for them? Loved the beef sliders… the chicken no so much. Cutlery was dirty.. exchanged.. and the wine glass.. ugh. Now I know .. it’s not a wine place.. but still .. clean glasses make a difference.
Ran out of mix for margaritas, they were out of tri tip, one of us ordered the last ribs. This was a Saturday.. and an early evening dinner out.. we’d made reservations. One person was overcharged on their bill and rather than refund on the spot gave him a voucher. ?
We’d been here last year.. had such a great time. The staff was awesome as always… but the other things.. well 🤷‍♀️
