Black Bear Diner has been my favorite places in Yuma since they opened. It makes me sad to post this review. My hubby and I were celebrating our 32nd anniversary and decided to eat there before going to another event. We arrived around 3pm and there were 3 employees standing at the register 2 looked up and made eye contact but quickly looked back down without acknowledging us. We stood there for another 3 minutes before my husband approached them and asked if we were supposed to seat ourselves. At this point there were 5 people behind the counter. One of the employees pointed at a girl who was approaching. She greeted us and I asked for a booth. I had a clear view of the dining room, which had several open booths, the employee asked us to wait while she went to see if it was OK? Not sure why it wouldn't be. Anyhow, we left. Honestly I don't expect instantaneous seating and would have been fine with waiting for a booth had even one of employees at the register greeted us and said someone will be with you in a few minutes instead of acting like we didn't exist. We ended up going to Texas Roadhouse, which was packed, and had a fantastic meal and felt appreciated.

Our waitress was very attentive, and the pot pie was top notch. My husband said the carrot cake tasted better than any he'd had before.

We celebrated New Years morning with a group of 20 plus. The staff did an excellent job putting us together by arranging tables in a separate section of the restaurant. Corey was our server and did an awesome job. Coffee cups were always full, special requests were handled with a smile and with some help from the kitchen team, delivered awesome food for everyone. A great way to start a new year. See you again for the start of 2026!

Went with friends for Christmas Dinner special. We all had prime rib and it was very good. We all got it prepared the way we ordered, from very rare to an "end cut". It was so tender that we used our regular table service knives. No "steak knives" needed. The only drawback is there were no vegetables.were served potatoes and gravy along with cornbread stufffing. Both were very good.
Parking: Not enough handicap spaces in a retirement town like Yuma.
Oh yea decent all around, even had some dude twistn balloons, my daughter got one. Good food, came quick despite how busy it got.

I have dined at Black Bear in AZ. This one was under staffed. The food was ok. The employees were trying but couldn't keep up. My Reuben was a bit tough. Wife's pancakes were very good! Friends Bacon and eggs were ok.
