Best of all, there are options for gluten-, dairy-, and nut-free cakes for those who have allergies. The chocolate quinoa cake is stellar, but she also does a wonderful gf/df/nf carrot cake upon request, too. My very elderly father was not a fan of special event cakes (too much frosting, in his opinion), but he gave the rave review of "damn good cake" on a number of occasions. “A genuine delight! Especially the hot baguettes, French-style, straight from the oven, with just about anything from the cheese and meats selection... or with nothing at all. Buy 2 and eat the first in the car whilst still steaming hot. Decidedly decadent.“

“We bought mini cupcakes for an anniversary party….we were beyond impressed! They were the best cupcakes we’ve ever had! We had a variety of flavors that all came through in flavor. They didn’t specify any decorations came with the price but they were so beautifully decorated! We specified a pick up time and was no problem. We didn’t realize it at the time but they should have been closed but stayed to accommodate us. Highly, highly recommend!“

As we are both world travelers who have spent substantial time all over the world, we both always said that the bakery's in southern France were untouchable, and they were until we tried Kootenay Bakery! Place Kootenay Bakery in France and they will still be a top place to go. The service is provided by amazing people with big smiles and great service and the food is exceptional. “Visiting from Seattle and the service, coffee, and food was all incredibly wonderful! The seats are very comfy for working (although the wifi is quite slow). I usually don't post reviews but when I was checking their hours I noticed the bad reviews from a previous owner. I daresay that Java Garden has quite possibly the best bang for your buck in Nelson as far as coffee goes! If you're near the mall, don't hesitate to stop by.“
