“Consistently amazing service and an affordable fine dining menu. The pizzas are fantastic in a town that has some very stiff competition. The pastas are en pointe and the mains are plated gorgeously and taste wonderful. Highly recommend leaving room for dessert, you won't be disappointed and their pistachio cardamom gelato is divine. To top it off they have a great selection of cocktails and a fine selection of wines. A great destination venue for special occassions. Will gladly return time and again!”

Thanks to him, I had the best NY style pizza I have had in a long time, and I'm originally from NYC now Oregon. JJ was awesome to chat with about Nelson. I came back later to fill a growler. 5 stars for staff and beer”

“This is definitely a the best ice cream shop in town! I love coming here it refreshes me and since it’s so hot out I will come here everyday. I got the Sour Watermelon it is my favourite! They have awesome special cones with cereals and chocolate on them. There is an awesome peach drink which will definitely refresh you in the hot summer heat. I love this place definitely coming back here so much I will tell all my friends about this awesome place”

“Okay. This place is amazing! From the friendly and helpful staff to the neat 1930’s ambiance, it ticks all the boxes. When I was trying to decide on a flavour… the wonderful employee offered me free samples to taste! It wasn’t long until I settled on lemon meringue! Once I ordered I waited patiently for my evening treat and all the sudden the server pulled out a blow torch and flambeed the meringue! How cool is that!? If you’re in Nelson, this place is a must.”

“I had the most delicious cake at my friends house the other day from Cake Betty. It was so wonderful that I feel compelled to write a review. Today I went to Cake Betty with another friend who bought the most beautiful small cake for a birthday gift. The owner gave us each a cupcake to enjoy. It was the best cupcake I’ve ever eaten - white cake with butter icing and a little bit of caramel sauce. So delicate and satisfying - I could have eaten three of them :)The bakery is so cute - like a tiny bakery in London, or the West Village. A lovely historical building with a sweet little store front. Go to Cake Betty - you will not be disappointed:)”

I went today while babysitting and my little friend was smiling the whole time pretty much. There are lots of well curated toys, books, drinks, snacks and more. Sky-Lea is so awesome too!”

“We bought mini cupcakes for an anniversary party….we were beyond impressed! They were the best cupcakes we’ve ever had! We had a variety of flavors that all came through in flavor. They didn’t specify any decorations came with the price but they were so beautifully decorated! We specified a pick up time and was no problem. We didn’t realize it at the time but they should have been closed but stayed to accommodate us. Highly, highly recommend!”

“2024 Empire is the best coffee shop in Nelson hands down.

Great coffee everytime, super consistent, tons of options for snacks and bakery including great gluten free choices. The sandwiches are excellent and great prices, all can be subbed with Gluten free bun or sourdough for $2.

Bourbon Chicken Sandwich might the best thing you can eat in town with $15.

Dietary restrictions: Excellent gluten free options, any sandwhich can be subbed for a gf bun or sourdough, lots of gf options for baking including cookies, muffins, bars, banana bread, etc.”

“More than a coffee shop: freash art on the walls, monthly poetry slam, printed clothing for sale, great staff and customers who are fun and interesting to talk to. Did I miss anything? Yeah, there's a play area for kids and an informal meet-the-baby event almost every day. Sweet spot.”

“Cute little place in the park to grab lunch. There was a long line and a bit of a wait when we went but when you're out for a day at the park, it doesn't hurt to be patient.”

“Without fail I always order the tan tan pork ramen and a matcha latte when I come here and it is always very enjoyable. I do get extra pork because the regular serving is a bit small. The last time I went it was pretty salty but! I have not been deterred, in my mind it is a one-off.
Service is nothing outstanding but certainly not poor.
The cocktails are crazy expensive but I prefer having the matcha while here so it doesn’t bother me much.
I’ll be back soon to try the new butter lettuce pork belly wraps - they look delicious!”

“Appetizers - good choices available. Oysters and Crab Cake were exceptional. Entrees - had not only steaks, but fish, chicken, ribs and pasta choices. Two of us had Filet Oscar which was outstanding, done just as we liked. Another had the Ribeye Steak and that was enjoyed as well. One of us upgraded to the mushroom truffle risotto, which was fabulous. Cheesecake to wind up, and shared, was so delicious! In my opinion, the best meal I have eaten in a very, very long time!!”

“We ran into this place while exploring Nelson and this was the sweetest most delightful of hidden joints we got the pleasure to visit. The ambiance decor menu items containing fresh fruits juices smoothies. Mango matte is heavenly and so we're all other things we tried. Simply awesome !”

“Great food and service! The cocktail list is interesting and creative. I had the Marlin Brando. Sweet and tart deliciousness. They have a lunch special that sounded really good but I chose the Yum-Son noodle bowl. The meat was done perfectly and the sauce and other “stuff” was fresh and tasty. My boyfriend had the yellow curry. Also excellent! My only negative was the tip prompt on the pos terminal started at 22%.... I think that’s an industry trend though.”

“First time here and this place a little of everything. From decadent desserts to Burgers and bagels. They have pizza are smoothies in a nice coffee bar. My friend that lives in Nelson took me here for lunch and I chose the pickle pizza and if you've never had it this is the best pickle pizza I've ever had in my life period she goes to vegetarian burger.”

“On a recent trip to Nelson we stumbled into El Taco after following the delicious smell from the street. Delicious food and drinks, and we loved the atmosphere and fantastic staff. I recommend the Chipotle Cheese Dip and Mexican Mule.”

“The food was good and the waitress was lovely. Feedback would be to not try to charge an extra $2.50 for an "artisan lettuce bun" (haha!) which is the same cost as a gluten-free bun! I have never been charged elsewhere for a couple leaves of lettuce when opting out of bread.”
