Came here for the Indian tacos but stayed for Dutchess herself. I was at Alert Bay only for a short while but I kept coming back for the food and talks. She's sensible, a little bit of a perv but aren't we all. Fav hangout spot that's for sure. Bann for your buck.

This is a must visit when you are in Alert Bay. Not only will you get to eat some delicious food, you will meet an amazing storyteller. The Duchess is funny, sassy and a true gem. And the bannock….yummmmmm! Here is one of her latest creations - hard boiled egg in bannock. The other is a bacon grilled cheese. Nobody leaves hungry. ❤️

My wife and I came over to Alert Bay for the afternoon and when I googled what to do and see, Duchess’ Bannock & Desserts was one of the places.We left Port McNeill a little late and wouldn’t be in time to go see Duchess so I called and she said she’d come back at 4 pm for me. They closed at 3!! I was so amazed that she would do that for us!I arrived and she asked what I wanted, I said “ I haven’t been here before so I’m not sure” well she said I can make you a bannock hotdog with bacon n cheese, regular bannock or cinnamon sugar sprinkled bannock. I chose one hot dog and the cinnamon sugar bannock. I ended up with 2 hotdogs, cinnamon round bannock and the bannocks worms!! It was all amazing! She didn’t charge me enough for all that she made, plus the socializing and getting to know more about her journey! My experience was top notch and I highly recommend this venue for your bannock experience! Thank you again for the wonderful hospitality and going out of your way to help me see and taste your amazing bannock! We’ll be back!Much love,Deb Press

You should go to Alert Bay just to for Dutchess fried bannock with sweet berries and whipped cream. Its coming straight from heaven :) and don't forget to go to the amazing U'mista cultural center ! Amazing community there :)
