Unfortunately the Japanese food expectation was not met. The gyoza was dry and bland. The Agadashi tofu was unlike anything experienced at other Vancouver restaurants. Coating was dry and rubbery and did not soak up any of the sauce included. The chicken teriyaki dinner was nothing like the traditional expectation. Next to no teriyaki sauce, but another type of hot sauce. I ordered the teriyaki dinner as I do not like spicy food. This was spicy. Not a pleasant dining experience when you expected a typical Japanese food expectation. If the restaurant wants to expand its cuisine type offering, they should at least advertise what the “fusion” food offering would be They have not and it ended up with an underwhelming experience. Sadly it’s not like the original Bowen Sushi, which was really good and checked all the expectation boxes.

Bowen’s Sushi place (Jin’s Sushi) has undergone a recent transformation, with updates to ordering technology (online ordering!!!), menu modernizations, and more, all while keeping the same charm the island has enjoyed for many years.

If it’s been a while since your last visit, or if perhaps you’re exploring the island for the first time, stop by for a bite!

This is a wonderful Bowen Island gem!
My husband and I went for dinner and loved all of our dishes! Everything was very fresh and prepared beautifully. The tempura was incredibly fresh, crunchy and light. Their inari bombs are a MUST!!! A perfect blend of ingredients with just the right amount of everything.
We were very happy with the size of the food portions and ended up ordering too much because of how good it was.

We’ll be back for sure! Thank you so much! :)

Small place by ferry.

Try some of their Korean dishes - I think it may be their specialty!

Like the no nonsense service.

Not a place for a romantic date but a great place to pick up when you have a sushi craving.

Glad to have something like this on Bowen Island.

Got take out here while staying in Bowen and it was delicious. The order ended up taking a bit longer than expected but we were given a delicious appetizer while we waited. Friendly staff and good sushi, highly recommend!

We had a good experience at this restaurant! The tempura was exceptionally fresh and crispy, definitely a highlight of the meal. I highly recommend it. The yam roll was also delightful—fresh and packed with flavor. However, I found the salmon avocado roll a bit lacking; while it was delicious, there wasn't enough fish and avocado in comparison to the rice. Overall, it was a good meal.

While visiting Bowen we were hoping this little establishment was going to be a hidden gem. Unfortunately the food was subpar, spring rolls tasted store bought and deep fried. Nigiri was not fresh and we just found the items overpriced. The two men were friendly enough and I dislike leaving negative reviews given they are trying to make a living. But I noticed quite a few concerning cleanliness issues when walking into the place to pick up the food. Floors were dirty and just overall not organized in any real fashion. We ate maybe half of what we ordered and tossed the rest. There are some amazing places on Bowen, but we were very let down with this experience. $80 for two people Yikes!

This would be a well above average sushi restaurant in any Vancouver neighbourhood. Not what you might expect in such a small place! Very good rice, carefully made (try some nigiri). Tried rolls, nigiri, sunomono salad, everything was well made and delicious. Friendly hosts too. There's only one table at the window (overlooking the parking lot) and a couple seats at the bar, and people come in and out with orders, so it doesn't look like a great dine-in option.

Really disappointed, ordered a dinamite roll, spicy tuna roll and a miso soup. Basic rolls. The soup was $2,75 and contained half in the container, it was tasty though. However the rolls had absolutely no taste and the fish wasn’t fresh. Couldn’t finish my food. I was sick the next morning.
