Big Way Hot Pot 大味 (Burnaby)

Horrible, don't waste your money.

One of my favourite hot pot places in the country.

Having experienced probably over a hundred hot pots, I enjoy the lack of compromise and negotiation and blackjack-counting-cards type attention required to locate ingredients you've successfully put in a broth ... instead here, what you pick is what you eat. And the broth you want. Load up on BBQ sauce, garlic, and green onions and cilantro to your heart's content on the side.

Just love the concept, so much easier.

The soft serve ice cream cone at the end is always so very welcome. The only way I could see improving this place is providing a raw egg to go with my BBQ XO sauce.

It's a busy place during peak meal times ... so I always aim for non peak times. No need to wait in line.

Please beware of the scale scam, they lean the tong container onto the scale. My bowl was 200g heavier, which is $8 more than it actually is. People double check your food! Very suspicious!

Bigway hotpot in burnaby was one of our favourite place to eat especially this cold szn. I recently ordered szechuan dry mix ‘coz i wanna try something different.When I got my order , first thing that I’ve noticed was the noodles. It seems uncooked and it’s hard to bite. I confronted the server for that reason and they asked me if they could just take it and try to cook the noodles. For the second time they hand me my food; the pot was hot but my food was cold and they just add lots of sauce on it.(the noodles were just the same) and uncooked. Also, my boyfriend waited for like 15 mins. for his food since I got my order. I understand they’re busy but I hope for better service next time.

Fantastic first experience at big way in Burnaby a few weekends ago with the family. Love the decor, the plateware and the service staff was very helpful especially since we brought our 8month old. They found a place to keep the stroller and set up a high chair for us.

My only piece of feedback is maybe for those that might be concerned about allergens or cross contamination with shellfish etc is to have dedicated Tonga for those items that live with those ingredients.

This was my first visit to Big Way Hot Pot, based on a friend's high recommendation. I came at 05:10 PM and spent $34.57 on my meal. While the quality of the food and the atmosphere are top-notch, the service I received was truly abysmal and completely ruined the experience.
My Experience
1. Awkward Welcome: The service started badly when I entered the store and your staff immediately welcomed me as a delivery driver, despite me being a dining customer. This felt dismissive and unprofessional.
2. Negligent Dessert Service: After finishing my dinner, I asked for ice cream. I then waited for at least 30 minutes for this simple request. The staff never served me the ice cream. To spend $34.57 and be completely ignored for half an hour is unacceptable.
Thank you for your service, but due to the profound lack of attention and poor treatment, I will never return to your restaurant again. The great food simply is not worth the frustration.

Big Way Hotpot is amazing! The ingredients are super fresh, the broths are rich and flavorful, and the portion sizes are great for the price. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is cozy and perfect for groups. Always a satisfying and enjoyable hotpot experience—highly recommended!
