“We dropped in impromptu for dinner and it was a good experience. We had garlic beef roll, garlic wings, pork belly, tofu soup (we asked specifically for no spicy), Japanese style shrimp pancakes and yogurt donut. Everything was brought out quickly and empty dishes were removed promptly. There is a self serve sauce bar and small snacks. I love the decor and overall vibe and we'll be back to try more dishes.

Parking: A bit tight but there is a parking lot.

“We had the fried calamari; tagliatelle with sausage, mushrooms, and cream; and the pizza dough strips. Everything was freshly made and tasted amazing. The only drawback is the small staff as it makes service fairly languid. A small thing, really, but maybe don't expect to dine quickly (if you had hoped to do so). We will definitely be back for more!”

“4 Stars, keep in mind that I rarely if ever give perfect scores so a 4 is very good.

This was my first time coming to this location which has a nice atmosphere and would come back.

My wife had the Creole Chicken which was very good and I had the Creole Sirloin Steak with Prawns.

I should have upgraded to the NY Strip in hindsight.

My rating would be 4 stars but when I ordered my steak I specified Rare but it came quite overdone, it was not pink inside.

I don't like to complain or send food back but I nicely mentioned it to our waitress and though it took some time they brought out a whole new plate which you can see in the pics is so much better.

So I commend the staff for rectifying this for me.

The one with a lot of char is the overdone one.

“Premiere AYCE hot pot. Good quality meats. Fun and exciting dessert bar. Wide selection of self-serve options. Individual pots. Brightly lit and stylish interior. Honestly, this is the best hot pot in all of lower mainland, and the lines definitely support this conclusion.

We had a reservation at 11p on Friday, and there still dozens of people waiting to get in. Walk-ins on busy days probably need to wait at least 1.5hrs if not more, so gotta be sure to reserve ahead.

The part I appreciate the most is the impeccable service via iPad. No need to flag down busy waiters, no chance of the restaurant shortchanging your order (looking at you happy lamb, giving us one serving when we asked for five on the paper ordering sheet), and as soon as you submit it, it arrives at the table in less than a minute. The waiters are always around to refill soups as well.

Chocho takes the only downside of regular dolar shop (the high prices) and turns it into an attraction! Must try dining experience!”

“My friend and I were committed to our diet, so we brought our own "healthy food" while everyone else in our group indulged in their sinful fried delights. Despite the temptation, we stayed strong and resisted the urge to join the fried chicken feast.

However, a mistake in one of the orders left our group with an extra chicken sandwich. As it sat on our table in its container, the sandwich seemed to stare at me, tempting my resolve. The lid was opened by one of our friends, releasing its irresistible aroma into the air. The devil had opened Pandora's Box.

Alas, resistance crumbled. We reluctantly decided to split the sandwich and give in to its seductive allure. I couldn't believe the rush of flavor that greeted my taste buds with each bite. The combination of mayo and bread was exactly what I had been craving, and I savored every mouthful.

Before long, I found myself staring at an empty container, internally lamenting my lack of restraint. It only intensified my longing for the forbidden foods

“This was my first time trying Sushi Modo. I've been searching for a good Katsu Don in Vancouver, so I looked it up on Yelp and found this place nearby.

Surprisingly, this restaurant seems to be genuinely Japanese-managed rather than Chinese. The venue is clean and tidy, and the waitress served me politely with a big smile, reminiscent of restaurants in Japan.

In my opinion, the Katsu Don is a 3.5/5. The rice portion is just right (about 1/4 cup, if you're familiar with rice cookers, you know what I mean). The pork cutlets with egg topping were decent, in the traditional Katsu Don style. The sauce was a bit salty but still acceptable. I'm not sure if it would be juicier if I dined in, as my pork cutlets were a bit dry inside, though the coating was still crispy and tasty.

The miso soup was tastier than the usual powdered versions. It included tofu, which added to the flavor and made the soup more enjoyable.

The 9-piece California roll was decent and worth the price.

I will try again next time and see if dining in makes a difference.

“Picked up a Too Good To Go bag from here, and also bought a vegan chocolate raspberry cupcake. The donuts were nice! It's the same donut base, but they have different toppings/flavors. We received a good variety of 6 different flavours. Our favourite was the pineapple coconut! The icing/frosting is on the sweeter side, so best for those with a sweet tooth! The cupcake was also a nice treat. While the chocolate flavour was strong, if was very one-note and I would've loved if it had a pinch of salt for an enhanced flavour. The cupcake was $8, but it was a larger cupcake and vegan, so I thought the price was appropriate. Not an everyday spend for me, though!

Had read good things about the bakery, so was glad to have stopped in! I'm hoping in the future, the bakery will sell vegan and gluten-free desserts (they have a selection of vegan or gluten-free treats, but not combined). Would recommend!”
