“The Japanese employees at sushi S really did well . My server was polite she brought me a chilled mug for my pop. She had an enthusiasm about her that brightened the room. This definitely added to a great visit. The scallop Motoyakii was mouth watering and the Chicken Teriyaki came out smoking hot and sizzling the way it should. She brought it out immediately!!! I didn't have to wait for it at all even though it was somewhat busy. Great little gem of a place to enjoy a quick lunch or a casual dinner.“
“Tasty but somewhat pricy (Korean?) sushi place near Brentwood Mall. Parking is available but limited in the strip mall lot. The place looks more like an ice cream or dessert shop with the black and pink stripes on the wall, as well as the flower looking lighting fixtures. Staff are friendly. Looks like 2 friends run this place. My food took some 20+ minutes to arrive, so they gave me a free green tea while I was waiting, which was nice. Also nice to see they make the food fresh. Seafood poke bowl - salmon and tuna chunks with a prawn on top. Served with shredded carrots, broccoli, cucumber, and cherry tomatoes. Bowl was honestly a bit on the smaller side. Tasted fine though. West coast roll - crab, prawn tempura, spicy tuna, scallop. Served warm (guessing it's the tempura). Tasty. Overall this place is pretty good. The other added bonus is they're open quite late (2300 most days as of the time of writing). Recommended.“
“The salmon oshi here is the most delicious. The size is just right, and the jalapenos on top are thin and well-cooked with a torch, so the texture is good. The salmon is also well-cooked. I tried it here and it was delicious, so I went to another restaurant and ordered it, but I was surprised to see it came out undercooked. It's new. I tried the menu and it was delicious. It's bulgogi stir-fried udon, and even though it was packaged, the noodles were soft and not soggy. The salmon sashimi was thick and had a really good texture. Needless to say, the taste was great.“
“First time at sushi box, very impressed. The sushi is fresh and tastes awesome. Got the tiger roll, spicy sashimi, Alaska roll, and a few pieces of nigiri which was packed with tons of flavour can tell fish is fresh and high quality. Amount of food and quality was worth it for its price. Service and atmosphere was great!“
“Very friendly host and people working here. We ordered Sashimi delux and sushi delux. Sashimi is fresh, sushi is with the right amount of rice while you can taste the sashimi on top. Nice Friday dinner with family here, will definitely come back!“
“Auntie is so kind! The Teppanyaki is authentic Taiwanese style. Abei is very good at frying steaks. I ordered sirloin and filet during my first visit. They were super tender and delicious! The bean sprouts are also super fragrant, and the sauce is neither salty nor greasy and goes very well with rice.“
“Phenomenal!... I have eaten at o-Sushi-ya all over the world. Tokyo, New York, Honolulu, San Francisco; and outside of Japan, this is the best. From the briny ponzu kissed Miyagi oysters to the rich and deep-nuanced Chawan-mushi to the creamy smooth Yamaimo drizzled Maguro to the perfectly done butter-soy grilled fresh local squid - all were the best I have had. Then to finish, the matcha, fruit, lychee kanten and ahn parfait was light, sweet perfection.“
“Our first experience at Sushi Moro Burnaby was great. The service was excellent as our tea was always refilled, plates cleared and food delivered on time. The sushi was flavourful and fresh. We will be back again. Thanks sushi modo! We got the salmon Oshi, Saba oshi, chefs roll, popping roll and “
“My partner and I are sad to hear of your closure. You have been serving an outstanding Japanese meals in the past ten years. When we showcased our neighborhood to out of town visitors a stop at your restaurant was always a must. We will sure miss you and wish you the best.“
“Convenient and delicious. The small shop is outside the skytrain. It has a lot of wine that I like to drink, but parking is a problem.Parking: You can take the skytrain. There are not many parking spaces on the roadside. There are paid parking spaces at the bowling alley next to it.“
“Sushi Kilala is a hidden gem runs by a Japanese family. Ingredients are always fresh and sushi are delicately made. Some of our favorite sushi are Hamachi, Toro and Saba nirigi. The chopped scallop Gunkan is also very good.Highly recommended!“
“Best sushi order I ever had! Service was amazing ?The only place I've seen that has Salmon elly sashimi which is my favorite! And the spider roll had the perfect balance of ingredients and flavors even the batter on the crab was crispy but not too thick.Waitress was so friendly and kind.“
“Hidden gem in the neighborhood. High quality fish and creative fusion menu. Surprisingly low traffic in store so the dining experience feels private. Well decorated and Disney tracks playing softly in the background, makes for a great date avenue.Happy hour menu is not cheaper but just smaller portions, would recommend for trying items on their menu.“
“A place with good mazesoba (dry mixed noodles) with reasonable price! The noodle itself is very flavourful, and they also have condiments like vinegar and chili flakes for you to adjust the flavour to your liking. They also have very generous portion sizes, and you can add extra noodle for free (portion size comes in regular, XL, XXL). They also provide a small bowl of rice at the end to mix with all the leftover sauces at the end.We ordered the Niku Mazesoba (Spicy) for $16.50 and added a soil boiled egg on the side for $1.99. We both left very satisfied. Will definitely come back again!“
“A cut above AND great value! Stopped in here for dinner because we were in the neighbourhood -kind of a random pick. Their take on dishes common all over the city was consistently unique and subtly complex. We will make a point of going back.Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options. I always like to see an umeshiso roll on the menu (not every Japanese/sushi restaurant has it) and theirs did not disappoint“
“Food is always so good and for a reasonable price. This is our go to sushi place. It's usually pretty quiet for dine in meals, but they have a great selection and their spicy tuna roll/cone is the best I've had.Vegetarian options: They have a whole vegetarian section of rolls and dishes. Little bit harder to find exciting vegan stuff, but pretty good selection.“
“fantastic restaurant mixing local ingredients in Japanese dining, but also Japanese imported items if you wish as well. they have a seasonal section that you should always take a close look at. have been multiple times and always a great experience.“
“The food was great, came out quickly, and was really fresh. We found the prices a bit more expensive than places we usually visit. However, the quality was good.Parking: It was our first time in this location, so we were not very familiar with parking options.“
“One of the best sushi place!Absolutely amazing sushi! Every bite was a burst of flavor, and the presentation was impeccable. The freshness of the fish was evident in every roll and nigiri. The pork in the spicy pork bulgogi was also very fresh and tender. The service was friendly and prompt. Can't wait to come back for more!“
“look, its nothing groundbreaking, but the chef is wonderful, they stay open nice and late, and they genually care about their customers. The miso soup is complimentary and they have a good selection of well made and quality food. Good price and well worth the money!“
“I order from here regularly and the quality and service is always top notch!! I love that they are so close to home, I used to order through Uber but now I’d rather order takeout straight from them as it’s more convenient and I’d rather more money go straight to them. Super yummy, great quality and amazing service!!“
“I was looking for a Japanese Restaurant on my lunch break yesterday. Stopped in, ordered spicy tuna roll (my fav) and Tonkatsu meal..Everything was delicious⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ looking forward to my next meal there... ps, the salad dressing is fantastic!!!“
“Really laid back Mon and Pop Japanese restaurant. Sushi is the big focus in the menu, but there are other things as well. The wife had a sushi combo (G), and I had teriyaki beef (with rice and salad). We started with gomae salad, and agedashi tofu.Everything was tasty, and I think we'll go back another time to try done other things.“
“Pokey okey never disappoints! I came today Friday 9th and everything was awesome the food and also de customer service, I didn't get the name of who served me but overall everybody that works there has some excellent customer service, I've come to pokey okey for months or years! I can't recommend it enough! You won't regret, thanks pokey okey!!“
“The food was good! However, the free size up is a little underwhelming. The carbonara udon was creamy and tasty! I think this place is beautiful for a little photo opValentines Day seemed busy, I've seen two groups leave because they waited about 15-30 minutes for their order. We decided to wait it out.“
“Love Green Leaf in Kits and we’re super happy that the Burnaby location was excellent as well. The salmon oshi is the absolute best and I really enjoyed the tornado omurice. Extra crispy tempura and karaage. Anything you order will be amazing. Service is friendly and fast as well.“
“The store, service, and food are all good. Please, some Korean guys, please stop talking too loudly. Two men Two men sitting at the end table! This is not Korea. I 100% understand why your voice gets louder just because you're a little drunk. You have to have some tact. This isn't a pub or a club. You're eating...;;I received an apology from the server on my behalf.Aren't you embarrassed? If it were in the US, it was so loud that you would actually get shot.“
“For fresh sushi made by Japanese people come here. This is probably one of the most authentic Japanese places in South Burnaby and they have sake and beer specials. Best part is the owners are actually Japanese. Pricing is relatively decent. And Ambiance is very traditional. There is parking downstairs and on the street. Friendly warm service and very good sushi.“
“Wow, it has been more than 3 years since I have been back here! OMG This place is still alive and still busy after the pandemic. Yes, this place is categorized as budget sushi, that is not that bad. I mean with Sushi Garden hiking their prices to the sky now, I think this place is A LOT more worth it now and on top of that, in my neighbourhood. The quality of the cooked food is one of the best though tbh. Their deep fried chicken (karage) and their tempura were on point. On top of that, their sushi rolls were decently priced too. The price were cheap for post pandemic, and on top of that they are a local business that has been there for YEARS! Yes, it is owned by a Chinese guy and a family, but at the same time it has been a part of the Burnaby Heights community for years and it is not that bad of a restaurant located here.Support your local businesses as this is part of the Burnaby Heights community pillar.“
“Take out only but a hidden gem. The ingredients are fresh even down to the wasabi. The rice is properly made. The roll has just the right amount of rice and it is rolled tightly. We had a dynamite roll and the prawns inside are still crunchy. The house roll are filled with sashimi and only little amount of imitated crab meat. This for quality is exceptional for its price. Please keep it up and we will revisit often.“
“Service is impeccable. The staff are super friendly. The food is fresh and delicious. They give you so much food for literally the lowest price point, and have some leftover to take home. Their Chicken Bento Box is usually my fave, but I've recently had their BBQ Eel Box, delicious ?“
“I grew up enjoying Japadog, so I was excited when Japadog opened at Brentwood Mall.I was not hungry, but I wanted some Shaked Fries, so I ordered the Butter & Shoyu. I watched as they fresh fried a batch of fries and proceeded to put in the appropriate seasoning. The Butter & Shoyu Shaked Fries were crispy on the outside while slightly tender on the inside. The seasoning was delicious and addictive. Can't wait to grab a Terimayo dog in the future.“
“I love this place. My parents and I have been regular customers for quite some time now, and I can say that nothing has disappointed me yet. My usual would be a teriyaki bento meal with a kappa roll, and every single time I have been met with the smell of delicious food and really good taste. The servers are very nice, treating us very kindly. They greet us with a happy smile and are cheerful. Would come here again and again. Thank you for the amazing service !!“
“I decided to drop in here after my gym. For some reason I never tried this place but decided to give it a try today and had an awesome experience! I ordered assorted donburi, salmon spicy crunch roll and some nigiris. I was amazed to see how fresh the fish, rice was and prices were way too reasonable for covid standards. I’ll be coming back all the time. Really appreciate the chef for giving me an extra piece of fish on my toro nigiri when I asked if it was okay to eat 2 pieces while I was waiting for take out. My family member also said this place is awesome! ????????쉐프님이 너무 친절하셔서 너무 기분이 좋았어요!! 엑스트라 토로 너무 감사합니다, 자주 올게요!“
“Delicious sushi and sashimi. We ordered the Sashimi Bento to go and would highly recommend it as it lets you try several menu items for one fixed price and leaves you full and satisfied. Everything was packaged perfectly too.The sashimi bento came with miso soup, a choice of terriyaki beef or chicken with rice (we chose chicken and the portion was great but the chicken could have been more tender and flavourful but it was still good), tempura (2 ebi, 2 sweet potato, and one snapper tempura which were all delicious), a small green salad, salmon oshi sushi, and 4 chefs choice sashimi but they gave us 5 slices of sashimi of 4 types of fish which all tasted Fresh. It’s like going to the restaurant and ordering a bit of everything you want for a fixed price of $25.95 per person and for the amount of food we got and the variety, it was worth it.“
“I got take out from here over the weekend. The wait was longer than stated but still reasonable for a Saturday night. We tried it because Uber constantly has a BOGO deal for their saba aburi (among many other BOGO items) and also we were craving sashimi. The food is okay but definitely not the best sushi out there. I might not even order the aburi again if not for BOGO. But we were absolutely blown away by the portion and price. The bento box A has SO much food: 2pcs prawn tempura, 2pcs yam tempura, teriyaki chicken on rice, 8pcs California roll, salad and miso soup!! And it’s $10.95!! I really don’t know where to find these prices for a meal anymore…I feel like the price is comparable to a fast food meal, maybe even cheaper than recent grocery prices!Overall, everything else was decent and fresh too. So definitely recommend if you’re craving sushi but trying to save $$, just don’t expect anything fancy!TLDR: pretty average sushi place, made up for by the very generous portions and extremely affordable prices“
“First time coming here and will come again to try out other rolls! I was so excited to try this place out finally and now I have to come back again! The food was delicious! The sushi rolls are massive and well worth your money both in quantity and quality. The sushi is fresh and the salmon is very tasty!Ordered the Angry Bird Roll and is by far one of the tastiest rolls I’ve had in awhile. Salmon sashimi was delicious on top of their house roll and it was nice and tangy and spicy. The miso soup is quite good too. It’s nice seeing a wonderful place like this in the Edmonds area of Burnaby. Great service and excellent portions will have me coming back again when I’m craving that delicious sushi roll.Parking: Plenty of parking in the free lot and street“
