“I love Sushi On. Ordered sashimi platter, spicy agadashi tofu, and aburi salmon for dinner. Paid about $80 for 2 persons with tip.
Ambiance was nice. Went there on a Monday so it was not as busy. Service was friendly and pleasant.
Parking on a Monday night was easy too.“

“Probably the best casual sushi place this side of town, the waitress is excellent, don't need them to be chatty but the smile did go a long way. Sushis are always good, although we would like the seaweed to be a bit more crunchy but really that's just nitpicking.“

“Well my brother insisted I come here with him for lunch and I was not disappointed. The food was amazing, fresh, tasty, coming out piping hot. The service was friendly, professional, and everything was spot on. The food portions were generous and the menu had a decent selection of items to choose from. Prices here are reasonable and competitive with other restaurants of the same type. I would like come here again and explore the menu further, give it a try and post what you think.“

“Tried the Alaska Roll, Red Dragon Roll (spicy), plus the California Roll and Dynamite Roll. All were delicious. Staff were helpful and food was ready in short order. Not a lot of seats here, but it was quiet after 8pm and they do take-out. Definitely recommend it to others.
Dietary restrictions: Most of the maki rolls are gluten free.“

“Wow, what a hidden gem in Burnaby - Sushi Bar Kilala is a cozy, authentic Japanese restaurant. I visited recently because of all the positive reviews and got a small to-go order. I can't wait to return to Kilala! Sushi was fresh, Sushi rice had the perfect texture and seasoning and the staff were very polite. 5 stars!“

“We visited to this hidden gem.
We had an amazing time. The food was amazing! We especially loved Salmon steak spaghetti and assorted Sashimi.
And we came back to here right next day to try some rolls, it didn’t disappointed us ?
Wish we had found it sooner.“

“3/24 quality and fresh fish. They have a large variety on their menu, and the sushi bar had great feel. The uni was very fresh, which impressed me the most. The sashimi bowl gives good portions of sashimi for the price. It was my first time in Burnaby and I would definitely come back.“

Vegetarian options: Yes ! They serves vegetarian options too..
Kid-friendliness: Yes definitely!

“This is definitely a hidden gem, owned by OG Japanese family. People that have tried traditional style of cooking can recognize the difference in their originality of seasoning and flavour compared to other restaurants, which is usually overpriced and over-presented. Place is also usually not busy. The owner was so nice to give us some extra portion to fit the sharing portion as well.
If you are looking for classic house-cooking in those Osaka small street, this is basically it!“

“We ordered the “Okonoman Date” Set for around $62 + tax and service charge. It came with salad, sushi, sashimi, makis, terriyaki, tempura, miso soup. We were so full. The set can be good for 3, if you’re not so hungry or if you don’t eat much. Service was fast, the waitress was friendly, and the booths made eating there private and special.
Vegetarian options: Salad, maki roll (e.g. with imitation crab) and vegetable tempura“

Great selection and great prices, I only wish the place had a seating section.“

“Ordered via DOOR DASH:
I was concerned that I wouldn't get enough wasabi cuz another sushi place combined 4 sushi roll orders into one take out container but only gave me one blob of wasabi and ginger. So I made sure to order for "2" people when i order sushi so this does not happen
KIKU give huge wasabi blob one was enough for the meal. Gave lots of soy sauce (8 packets) plenty of napkins.
Very big thick slices of sashimi Assorted Sashimi ( 18 pcs) I was very worried as another place gave me thin tiny pieces I was hungry afterwards. KIKU gives big slices (if you chop the sashimi in half, stack it, your bite of food is size of fancy mega sushi rolls) very fresh (not fishy) arrived nice and cold, nicely displayed in take out box (sorry too hungry to take photo of take out containers) Spicy Salmon Roll was amazing and little larger bite than most spicy rolls I was happy and stuffed. $54 including tax.“

“This is a very unassuming location, a small restaurant that is tucked away at a corner of a strip mall, almost out of sight. But, what a discovery!
The food was amazing, with fresh ingredients, great quality of seafood used, and nice portions. I had the Aburi Inari Sampler and the Ebi & Gyu Don, and they were both delicious. Flavourful combination of dishes that I haven’t tried before in other Japanese restaurants.
Customer service was very friendly and courteous from start to finish. Overall, this is a hidden gem that I am very glad that I discovered. Very lovely place.
Parking: Not a lot of spots available in the parking lot, but there is some street parking nearby.“

“This place is the best Sushi east of Boundary! Hidden gem of Burnaby and probably even Vanvouver! We've been coming for a couple years now and the fish is always fresh and the preparation and presentation is top notch!
Also, the service is amazing. The servers are super patient and helpful. 12/10!
Will be a customer for life!“

“Oyako don: I like how the sauce on the rice is sweet and everything feels so smooth that it melts in your mouth.
Chawan-Mushi: caution - it is quite hot when served. Would recommend if you like steamed eggs, and it also includes vegetables, (spinach, mushroom, edamame) shrimp, and ramen flakes. Rich flavours. Well done.
Crème Brûlée Cheese Cake (matcha): I like how it’s not over sweet. It has that cheese cake taste, smooth, soft and yet it is also quite balanced in sweetness. Very nicely done!
Service: my server was very kind to me. Even though the wait was within acceptable range, she felt inclined to apologize for the wait.
Good atmosphere with music playing in the background and people seem to be in groups having an occasional good time.
Thank you Ajishou!“

“The food is great. I ordered the spicy salmon sashimi, and the lunch special chirashi. The spicy salmon had a sweet and spicy sauce which I liked a lot. The lunch special was good too with the sweet teriyaki sauce on the rice and sashimi. However, the sashimi was at room temperature, I don’t like. It should be slightly below room temperature, but not freezing. The miso soup was perfect.
The service was amazing. I had a very friendly server, she would check up on me if everything was good and offered more tea. She was a bit quiet though, I couldn’t really hear her through the music that was playing.
The atmosphere is dark with warm lighting which I love. The place is a bit old, and dirty, but this place has been here for a long time, so I understand. They had action figures along the walls which makes this sushi place very unique and has its own personality. While I was eating though, there were fruit flies flying around.
I can see myself bringing my family here for dinner. I recommend trying this place out.“

“I love this place. My parents and I have been regular customers for quite some time now, and I can say that nothing has disappointed me yet. My usual would be a teriyaki bento meal with a kappa roll, and every single time I have been met with the smell of delicious food and really good taste. The servers are very nice, treating us very kindly. They greet us with a happy smile and are cheerful. Would come here again and again. Thank you for the amazing service !!“

“Sushi U is of my my favorite go-to sushi restaurants nestled in Burnaby. The workers are always respectful and kind to customers. Service is consistent, and the ingredients are of high quality. The BC Roll is probably the best I've had out of all the sushi restaurants I have visited. This restaurant is a must try when in the neighborhood. 5/5 Easily.“

“Fresh sushi and very nice waitresses always greeting with a warm smile and making sure everything is okay with our dishes. The ratio rice/fish in rolls was perfect.

“I was happy to see a Sushi Restaurant back again. Even meaning to try it out, so stopped in last week to grab a menu. Decided to try it out for a late lunch today. I am so glad I did. The decor is very nicely done, and the atmosphere is friendly and intimate(although I did takeout, but just giving my impressions). The staff was super friendly and helpful. The quality of the food was spectacular, and as I had ordered a lunch special, the value for the amount I spent was great. I will be going back...often. I think it was only $13.95 for "Vege Set A", and it was a filling meal. It came with Miso Soup, Salad, 6pc Yam Tempura Roll, and 8pc Vegetable Roll. I tried something different in going with Veggies, but that Vegetable Roll will be on my next order for sure.
Thanks so much, Haku Sushi for a great meal at an awesome price, which has become rare to find in this day and age.
Vegetarian options: The 8pc Vegetable Roll was simply awesome. It had Cucumber, Avocado, Pickled Radish, and Pickled Squash. It was very tasty and flavourful.“

“I cannot believe that I still can get a decent portion of ramen for approx $12 and not be hungry afterwards. The price is reasonable, the service is actually good! The cashier girl was nice and helpful, the Chef was fast, the food was tasty. What else would I wish? It's a shame that they don't have a location somewhere in downtown, I would be a regular customer..“

“Auntie is so kind! The Teppanyaki is authentic Taiwanese style. Abei is very good at frying steaks. I ordered sirloin and filet during my first visit. They were super tender and delicious! The bean sprouts are also super fragrant, and the sauce is neither salty nor greasy and goes very well with rice.“

“I have passed by this restaurant many times and decided to try it out. I ordered the meal where you get miso soup, chicken don with two rolls for a very great price! It was made quite quick for the quality of the food and he had 3 other orders to do too. I really enjoyed the mini chicken don, the soup lacked some taste, and the sushi was moderate. The place lacks the aesthetic that other restaurants have, but the customer service was great! The guy wasn't the greatest at English, but he was still very welcoming and very kind.
I took off one star only because this restaurant is your basic and convenient place to order sushi. Prices are relatively worth for the quality, customer service was nice, and the place seemed organized. It's not a bad restaurant, just not as nice as other ones I've been too. You get what you pay for essentially when you come here so don't expect anything spectacular. Otherwise, I would still come by for a quick grab!“

“After visiting multiple tendon locations in Vancouver, I like this place a lot more than tendon kohaku. The sauce is super delicious, they have higher quality ingredients for the tempura with better composition. Their mushroom is maitake which is absolutely delicious, better than shitake that Kohaku offers, and their seafood tempura is really tender and yummy which is not available in Kohaku. Their white fish is super fresh with no smell and their eel is also very fresh with no smell. ( I didn't like the eel from Kohaku)
I understand why others get disappointed by the plate but it really is intended to make it easier and fresher to eat tendon in a food court setting. I appreciate that they separate out the tempura and rice and gives extra bowl to eat easily without making tempura going too soggy.
I also highly recommend other dishes like their milk tea (which is really refreshing and nice flavor without being too sweet) and also their udon (it was great noodle and yummy soup).
Overall highly recommended.“

“This is a cozy Japanese restaurant that I went to after being recommended by a Japanese friend!
Although the restaurant is small, there are plenty of places to sit and it seemed perfect for eating alone or with two people!
For food, I had sushi rolls and tempura udon, and it was clean and delicious!
The staff were all friendly, and it was interesting to be able to see sushi being made at the sushi bar.
If you are looking for a quiet, cozy, and clean Japanese restaurant, I recommend this place!!“

“I had the Kamikaze roll which had such delicious fresh scallops and tuna on top. Came here after hitting the gym. Humble little nook, full of warmth and yummy choices. I never noticed it before. It's like a little secret. Highly recommend. There are a few tables to eat. I might dine in next time, as the warm roll cooled by the time I got home. It was still delicious and heartwarming though. Nothing quite like warm rice rolls, I think. What a luxury for a reasonable price. I've decided I will try everything on the menu, one week at a time.
Vegetarian options: Quite a lot, unusual for Japanese cuisine, esp for a sushi roll place. Check out the pictures of the menu I took.
Parking: Tonnes at Highgate shopping mall parkade and on the street of Arcola.“

“This is a good sushi place. Not standout but you know sometimes good is good ❤️.
I have gotten there Bento and rolls and I have enjoyed them, the tempura is fried okay though sometimes their portions for the main meats are a little small. The miso soup is also kinda mid( I have high standards for miso soup)
Like honestly though, student to student , if you wanted Japanese food this spot will work. It's like a spot you go to for Japanese food but not because you crave this spot specifically.“

“Food was great! Nice sandy beach / volcanic rock interior after remodelling.
It was bad form / poor etiquette for them to be playing Christmas music before Remembrance Day (11/11). In Canada, most businesses know not to play festive music before 11/11 to respect our fallen and those who have served in the military.“

“Chirashi Don was beautifully prepared, fresh and tasty. What more could I want? It’s a simple spot, in a familiar way, but this one proved itself to be working harder and doing better than the usual fair. If you’re in the neighbourhood go for it!“

“No frills sushi in a relaxed environment. It’s quick and tastes good without being overdone.
A win in my book. I love their spicy tuna!
Parking: Can be hard to park on site during lunch and dinner. Street parking and a short walk isn’t bad.
Wheelchair accessibility: There are no stairs. Should be reasonable for a wheelchair. Wide aisles.“

“I recently visited Sushi Garden at Brentwood, and my experience was a mix of positives and negatives. The food itself was fresh and flavorful—classic sushi rolls, sashimi, and tempura were all prepared well. Their portions are generous, and the prices are quite reasonable, making it a good value for the quality of the food.
However, the service could use some improvement. The staff seemed rushed and not very attentive. It took a while to get seated and even longer for someone to take our order. Once the food arrived, there were no follow-ups to check if we needed anything else.
The restaurant also felt a bit cramped and noisy, especially during peak hours, which made it hard to fully relax and enjoy the meal.
Overall, Sushi Garden is a decent spot if you’re looking for tasty sushi at a good price, but don’t expect exceptional service or a quiet dining experience.“

“I noticed this place a few days prior & made a note to comeback for lunch a few days later when I was back in the area. Neat to find a 'hole in the wall' local restaurant that serves good food for reasonable prices. I checked out their reviews before attending & was happy to see that they have high reviews. Their website lists all their menu items & current prices. Parking is Free in the Parking Lot outfront although a bit busy because there are quite a few business in the corner complex. The restaurant doesn't look like much & the atmosphere could be better, lots of room for more tables etc but the food is really good quality, price is good, & service is quick albiet a bit of a language barrier. They did bring the food to the table & gave glasses of water without even having to ask which was nice. I ordered the Chirashi Don, + a side Miso Soup. For the Chirashi Don was happy with the presentation, size of the peices of sashimi, & number of pieces was pretty good for the price. Basically 10 pieces for $14.50, lots of tasty sushi rice below too. I would order again but next time will probably go for the Deluxe Chirashi Don to see the difference. I grabbed 2 takeout menus on my way out & will tell people to go & try this place when I can.
*
Came back with a Friend on SAT JUL-27 & we both had Bento Box A which for only $11.45 was exceptional all around. I highly recommend.
Vegetarian options: Vegetarian Bento Box & other various options
Parking: Free Parking in the Parking Lot outfront“

“Had a great dinner experience here. It was better than what I expected. I thought of just getting the basic crunchy rolls, salmon oshi, plain udon, and chicken terriyaki and boy it’s better than the average ones I’ve had elsewhere in Vancouver. So went furthermore going for the mango tango roll and the hotate gai nigiri and boy, I was speechless as it was again better than what I expected. And lastly was the price. My son said I bet if it’s under a $100, he’ll pay for it…. And guess what? I just had a free dinner. Lol! Price point is good.“
