“Sushi Box is the most delicious local sushi I have had here in Burnaby! The quality of the fish is excellent, and I love the Salmon Sashimi. Everything tastes like it was made with love, and additionally the staff are very kind. If you are a sushi lover like me, I could not recommend this restaurant more.“

“Came here after Willingdon Church since it’s across the street. It looked kind of empty and inside so I didn't have high expectations, but the food was actually really good! The sushi rolls we got were Alaska, red, and munch roll. To my surprise, the Alaska roll was my favourite! We also got a beef udon soup that was really delicious and bigger than I expected. We'll definitely come back regularly.“

“Smaller sushi restaurants like this are always the best. Instead of a place like Mura, save some money and wait time, and come here. The staff are super friendly and the food is, in my opinion, much better. If you haven’t tried it yet and have been meaning to- do it; I bet you’ll love it.“

“been coming here since birth, and the two owners have practically watched me and my family grow. the sushi is amazing and fresh, very aromatic. service is kind, feels like home. we were really sad to hear that they would be retiring, but we went to get a party dish under the new owner and it tastes the exact same, which is wonderful. place is small but cozy. only downside would be that during peak hours, it's difficult to find parking. however, the sushi is always worth it at the end.“

“Hidden gem in Burnaby North, best Japanese/Korean venue on Hastings in Burnaby. Definitely the best tempuras in Lower Mainland that I've ever eaten; light and crispy thin batter, not greasy at all. Restaurant overall cleanliness well maintained, convenient parking, exceptionally pleasant and attentive staff. Highly recommended for anyone wishing a happy meal with friends or families for reasonable pricing for similar venues in area.“

“Fantastic sushi restaurant with high-quality ingredients and great customer service. Every roll was neatly prepared, the sashimi was exceptionally fresh, and the menu offered plenty of variety. “A tiny joint. I grew up in this neighborhood. This place has changed owner at least a few times since I have known it. This latest sushi joint is much better than the one before. They chose to keep their menu selection small, so I could not order my favorite Agedashi Tofu or BC roll, but they do excel in quality. I was pleasantly surprised at the food they crafted. Everything is flavourful and delicious. The toasted sesame on top of the scallop roll was very aromatic and added to the flavor. The salmon aburi was torched well and had a nice balance of rice and ingredients without being overly greasy. They also wrap their rolls with minimal rice, so you don't get full quickly. The place is very small, but they did a good job with the minimalist decor so it does not feel overly cramped. I would come back again to try more of their food.“

“2026 Father's Day Happy Hour Get-Together for 12-guests.
Our Nemo-6-Special-Rolls (48pieces) tray is fabulously delicious, so does the other kind of Sushi, Oshi, we ordered, we like the acid-sweet balance and texture of their sushi rice; Nemo's Sashimi slices are some of the freshest and thickest cut compared to the other Japanese-sashimi class restaurants we tried; though we ordered 19-dishes for 12 guest, there was not much left that we pack as left over, a solid testimony of how much we enjoyed our food at Nemo.
Many thanks to Angel, Dymphna and Hazel for providing genuine, friendly, casual yet very efficient service for our group. Everyone is happy and most probably will come back, including us.“

“Wonderful place to get sushi and favourite dishes like how they serve them in Japan. The assorted sushi option is a very good deal for the variety and quality of the fish. Incredible variety and each piece is intentionally plated and assembled with care. Plus it’s clear that it’s well prepared by the chef. Bluefin negitoro was a bit too fishy for me, but some may enjoy that flavour. I believe it was too close to the bloodline. Highlights were the shishito tempura and beef tataki. In fact, the tataki was the best I’ve ever had in my life! Their tempura is so light and fresh, that we ordered multiple plates of the shishito peppers. The plates used are absolutely beautiful and it’s clear that presentation and integrity are core values here.
They had so many unique items like shirako and several unique fish from Japan. I do wish they used real wasabi, as the nigiri was a touch too heavy handed for my taste. Absolutely recommend for those looking for something more traditional and elegant.“

“Visited for the first time since the new owners took over, and what a pleasant surprise! The restaurant has a fresh new energy while still keeping the quality and spirit of a great Japanese dining experience. The biggest standout was the freshness of the food. From the sushi to the sashimi, every bite tasted incredibly fresh and well-prepared. The ingredients were high quality, the presentation was beautiful, and you can tell a lot of care goes into every dish. The menu offers some exciting new options, bringing a different flavor and experience compared to before. The staff were welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. It's great to see this restaurant thriving under new management. If you haven't visited recently, I highly recommend giving it another try. Fresh ingredients, delicious food, friendly service, and excellent value. We'll definitely be back!“

“I almost walked past this place because the exterior looks a bit dated and the surrounding area isn’t particularly eye-catching. The dining room is also quite small and the interior could definitely use some updating. However, the high ratings convinced me to give it a try, and I’m glad I did.
I ordered the aburi sushi combo, a tamago nigiri, and a miso soup.
The miso soup was probably the weakest part of the meal. It tasted like a fairly standard instant-style miso soup with soft tofu and rehydrated seaweed. One small suggestion: the soup bowl I received was very heavily scratched from years of use. As I got further into the soup, it became difficult to tell whether the marks were simply wear or if the bowl wasn’t completely clean. Replacing some of the older bowls would improve the overall dining experience.
The real highlight was the aburi sushi combo. It took a little longer than expected to arrive, but once it did, I understood why. The presentation was beautiful, the variety was excellent, and the quality of the fish really stood out. Every piece had great flavor, the fish was fresh and nicely marbled, and the torching added a wonderful aroma. Considering the price, it’s honestly an outstanding value and something I’d definitely recommend ordering.
My only suggestion for the aburi sushi is that it was slightly oilier than necessary. It looked like the sushi was torched directly on the serving plate, leaving quite a bit of rendered fish oil underneath. The rice had already absorbed some of the oil from the fish, and then picked up even more from the plate. It wasn’t greasy enough to ruin the dish, but it did make the overall bite a little heavier. I think torching the sushi first and plating it afterward could help preserve the same great flavor while keeping the rice lighter.
The tamago nigiri was just okay. It tasted like the tamago had been refrigerated and reheated before serving, so it lacked the soft, freshly made texture I was hoping for. To be fair, I visited around 4 p.m. and I was the only customer, so I completely understand why they weren’t making fresh tamago at that time. It was a little disappointing, but not a dealbreaker.
The service was friendly and efficient. Nothing particularly exceptional, but definitely pleasant.
Overall, despite the dated interior, the quality of the sushi exceeded my expectations. With a few small improvements, this place could be even better. I’d happily come back again, especially for the aburi sushi combo.“

“Had a really nice experience at Hung’s Teppanyaki! We ordered the sliced beef and chicken fried rice — both were fresh, flavorful, and tasted homemade. Also very affordable! It does take a bit longer since everything is made from scratch, but it’s definitely worth the wait.
The lady at the cash was very sweet and welcoming. Will definitely be back again.“

“Honestly I've seen people's posts from before and disappointed that they didn't enjoy the experience. Whatever has changed since last year I personally found the sushi well made the miso soup nice and hot with good flavor. The roll was fresh with perfect texture and surprisingly good flavoring as well. I was also appreciative of how kind the worker was and would highly recommend coming here as the prices are very good for what you get. You deserve this 5 star!“

“Tommy. Your efforts are not without notice. We came in as strangers but were treated like kinfolk. Atmosphere was great and the service was quick dispite how popular and packed your establishment was. I can tell, sitting at the bar watching you prep that you know what you are doing. You are dedicated to the craft and you are passionate in what you do. That is something very refreshing to see in a sushi landscape that has been commercialized and commoditized.
Although I do not know what your vision is, there definitely is a sense almost tangible that it exists. I can tell by the interaction with all of your patrons that many of them are regulars and let that be a true testament to what you bring to the community and beyond.
Thank you for the wonderful experience. I hope to become a regular myself as the food and everything came together wonderfully making the trek from Langley completely worth it.

“I love this place. My parents and I have been regular customers for quite some time now, and I can say that nothing has disappointed me yet. My usual would be a teriyaki bento meal with a kappa roll, and every single time I have been met with the smell of delicious food and really good taste. The servers are very nice, treating us very kindly. They greet us with a happy smile and are cheerful. Would come here again and again. Thank you for the amazing service !!“

“TOGO Sushi SFU is probably the best sushi option on top of Burnaby Mountain. The rolls are filling, affordable compared to nearby restaurants, and the interior of the restuarant is clean and bright. I have always had a good interactions with staff and orders come out timely. Solid spot!“

“Sorry, I did not take pictures, we had the chicken skewers and they were raw inside, the staff were great about replacing them with something else we would like i.e. California rolls. They were very apologetic. I think it was a one off. Everything else was delicious, especially the vegetarian combo.
Would go back, probably wouldn’t order the chicken skewers though lol“

“My girlfriend and I have been coming to Sushi Oyama for about 5 years now, since we were 16, and we’re 21 now. Even after all these years, it’s still one of our favourite sushi spots around Metrotown. The food is always fresh, portions are great, and the staff have consistently been friendly and welcoming every time we visit. It’s become one of those places that holds a lot of memories for us, from casual dinners to date nights. We’ve tried many sushi places over the years, but we always end up coming back here. Highly recommend if you’re looking for consistently good sushi and great service!“

“Ordered the pork katsu with curry sauce on the side and the takoyaki, and they were both better than what I expected from food-court food! Katsu was crispy, and takoyaki was only $10 for eight and not soggy unlike a lot of other places. Only thing I’d like to change would be that the curry sauce didn’t have a strong curry taste and was instead more salty.“

“I have been going to Sushi Garden for as long as I can remember starting with the original one at Metrotown. Because that got so busy, they open one by Brentwood. And before you know it, another location by Highgate opened. When you go just before lunch or dinner, you don't need to wait. I can't remember if you can make reservations or not, but it wouldn't matter as the whole party needs to be there before seated (which I quite love because some people don't show and they take up un-needed tables!). Today, we didn't order as much as usual, but ended up getting the Salmon Sashimi (always fresh and delicious); BC Combo which includes a BC roll, an Alaska roll, one salmon nigiri, and one tuna nigiri; one chopped scallop nigiri the Kaki Fry (aka deep-fried oyster), Pan-Fried Gyoza, Chicken Kaarage, Prawn Tempura, Agedashi Tofu, Dynamite Roll, California Roll — All their foods are great from Gomae, Wakame Tako Yaki, Croquette, any rolls and many more.... the food do come out quickly, the staff are attentive and plenty of free parking in their parking lot or on the streets. Come and grab a hot cup of green tea as soon as you seated!“

“Had a great experience at Tentatsu for sushi in our party of 3 for my wife's birthday. Our host frequents Tentatsu and led us through the courses as we don't do sushi very often but this night may have changed our mind. The atmosphere was lovely with these Hugh tree in the centre of a comfortable light restaurant with comfortable booths offering privacy and an intimate setting. Service was excellent, friendly and courteous and the food was fresh and very good. The miso soup was different but very good and really enjoyed the sashimi and the rolls. “Kiku Sushi at Metrotown has become one of our go-to lunch spots. The value for money is excellent, especially with their lunch box specials, which offer a great variety of items at a very reasonable price. It’s hard to find this level of quality and portion size these days without spending a lot more.
The food is consistently fresh, well-prepared, and arrives quickly. Whether it’s sushi, sashimi, tempura, or the lunch combinations, everything tastes fresh and satisfying. The service is also always friendly and efficient, making it an easy choice for a reliable lunch.
My only minor criticism is that they don’t allow substitutions on their box specials. It would be nice to have a little flexibility, especially for guests who may not like a particular item. That said, their policy is clear, and it is what it is.
Overall, the quality, value, and service keep us coming back. If you’re looking for a dependable sushi lunch near Metrotown that won’t break the bank, Kiku Sushi is definitely worth a visit.“
