“I often order from Sushi S on Uber Eats, and I really like the food. The appearance of the food is really pleasing to look at, and I would recommend you trying the Awesome Maki Roll. It’s basically just a California roll with seared salmon and top and very thin crispy yam strips. Overall, the food is outstanding and is one of the best Japanese restaurants in Burnaby. “Hidden gem in Burnaby North, best Japanese/Korean venue on Hastings in Burnaby. Definitely the best tempuras in Lower Mainland that I've ever eaten; light and crispy thin batter, not greasy at all. Restaurant overall cleanliness well maintained, convenient parking, exceptionally pleasant and attentive staff. Highly recommended for anyone wishing a happy meal with friends or families for reasonable pricing for similar venues in area.“

“I had a great experience at this sushi restaurant. I sat at the counter and watched the Japanese chef prepare the sushi right in front of me. Everything was clean and hygienic throughout the meal, and the service was excellent.
The Plum Wine was really good, and the sushi was fresh and delicious. The only minor downside was that the Appetizer Tempura wasn't quite crispy enough. Overall, a great sushi experience and I would definitely come back.“

“Sushi was great. Super fresh and well portioned. We got the deluxe chirashi and it was loaded with lots of sashimi and not overly on the rice. The toro was melt in your mouth and fresh. The staff was friendly. It is a small restaurant with limited tables but we were able to sit at the bar today. Just note the cellular signal is not good here so you’ll have to connect to the store wifi to get service. But not a big deal for us.“

“This is an absolute gem, the food was fantastic - we enjoyed everything, but the oshi tuna in particular was out of this world! The service was very attentive and polite. It was a small place that doesn't take reservations so we did take a chance, but boy did it ever pay off! I don't live in BC, so not sure when I'll be back, but I will be sure to tell everyone I know that this was truly one of the highlights of our trip to the West Coast!“

“I almost walked past this place because the exterior looks a bit dated and the surrounding area isn’t particularly eye-catching. The dining room is also quite small and the interior could definitely use some updating. However, the high ratings convinced me to give it a try, and I’m glad I did.

I ordered the aburi sushi combo, a tamago nigiri, and a miso soup.

The miso soup was probably the weakest part of the meal. It tasted like a fairly standard instant-style miso soup with soft tofu and rehydrated seaweed. One small suggestion: the soup bowl I received was very heavily scratched from years of use. As I got further into the soup, it became difficult to tell whether the marks were simply wear or if the bowl wasn’t completely clean. Replacing some of the older bowls would improve the overall dining experience.

The real highlight was the aburi sushi combo. It took a little longer than expected to arrive, but once it did, I understood why. The presentation was beautiful, the variety was excellent, and the quality of the fish really stood out. Every piece had great flavor, the fish was fresh and nicely marbled, and the torching added a wonderful aroma. Considering the price, it’s honestly an outstanding value and something I’d definitely recommend ordering.

My only suggestion for the aburi sushi is that it was slightly oilier than necessary. It looked like the sushi was torched directly on the serving plate, leaving quite a bit of rendered fish oil underneath. The rice had already absorbed some of the oil from the fish, and then picked up even more from the plate. It wasn’t greasy enough to ruin the dish, but it did make the overall bite a little heavier. I think torching the sushi first and plating it afterward could help preserve the same great flavor while keeping the rice lighter.

The tamago nigiri was just okay. It tasted like the tamago had been refrigerated and reheated before serving, so it lacked the soft, freshly made texture I was hoping for. To be fair, I visited around 4 p.m. and I was the only customer, so I completely understand why they weren’t making fresh tamago at that time. It was a little disappointing, but not a dealbreaker.

The service was friendly and efficient. Nothing particularly exceptional, but definitely pleasant.

Overall, despite the dated interior, the quality of the sushi exceeded my expectations. With a few small improvements, this place could be even better. I’d happily come back again, especially for the aburi sushi combo.“

“This small food shop at the farthest corner of Crystal mall food court is a gem. The staff are all so friendly and humble. They offered tea when they know the customers have to wait. They received cash with both hands and confirmed the amount they got and returned changes also with such a high respect to their customers.

About the food, I and my boyfriend are so impressed with the quality and taste. The fried rice came out so flavorful and fresh. They fried rice with slices of pork and vegetables which makes a perfect balance for a Asian customer like me who prefer both meat and veggies in 1 meal. The taste is nothing to say except for SO GOOD.

Whatever has changed since last year I personally found the sushi well made the miso soup nice and hot with good flavor. “Our favorite takeout sushi spot. We recommend the nigiri and the salmon/tuna avocado rolls, either regular or spicy. The fish is consistently fresh, with big, thick slices that let the quality speak for itself.

This isn’t the place for extravagant, over-the-top rolls stuffed with cheap crab covered in sauces for your instagram. It’s a small local mom-and-pop spot that focuses on what matters: generous cuts of high-quality fish and simple, well-made sushi. Plus, the bento boxes are a steal.

“Hiroshi Sushi is such a great sushi spot on the East Side of Vancouver! 🍣✨ The sushi is fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared. Every dish we tried was full of flavour and tasted so fresh.

They also have robot service 🤖, which makes the dining experience fun and unique. It’s especially exciting for families and kids to see the robot delivering food to the table!

“Ordered the pork katsu with curry sauce on the side and the takoyaki, and they were both better than what I expected from food-court food! Katsu was crispy, and takoyaki was only $10 for eight and not soggy unlike a lot of other places. Only thing I’d like to change would be that the curry sauce didn’t have a strong curry taste and was instead more salty.“
