Every dish we’ve tried has been well executed, and you can really tell they put care into both the ingredients and presentation. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service make the experience even better.“

“Haven't been to Yuu for a while and we went back last week. Price didn't go up much despite the inflation. Kids order some special drink and the staff even gave them a small ice-cream cone to top it off. Great gesture. Would definitely be going back more often.“

It was more than we could've hoped for from the gracious hosts, Chef Ray and wife Christine, to the gorgeous presentation of each course, the preparations of each item, the texture, the taste and the cosy atmosphere. We savoured each bite, while enjoying the friendly banter between the hosts and a couple of their regulars at the bar seating. Highly recommend! side note: I was impressed by just how meticulous and thoughtful they are when I saw they even put a little decor under the washroom sink.“

“Second time here and wanted to see how their Bento boxes were.

Food was quite nice and Bento generously proportional to its price. The sushi and sashimi were fresh. A high 4 for food.

Service was acceptable considering only one person was running the whole place. Hot tea actively refilled. A solid 4.

Atmosphere was acceptable with this time the windows were boarded up. Washroom were decent. Other than that it is a high 3.

Would consider again if in the vicinity.“

“Ordered 2 signature set menu, gold and silver. Sashimi very fresh The skewers and the rice bowl and ramen came hot but by the time we finished the salad and sashimi the hot carbs gets lukewarm. Overall service is good. Will definitely come back and try their other stuff.“

“A good find. Small cute japanese restaurant serving japanese curry. I ordered pork cutlets and side of 2 prawns. Really good! Only thing i can say is the shereded cabbage is in small portion. All in all its a good food. pork is tender and juicy and yet crispy on the outside. Restaurant is clean with a nice simple decor!
Next time i crave for a japanese curry, I know where to go, HERE!!!“

“Dropped by today for a quick lunch between meetings. Service was prompt, warm with subtle attentiveness. I ordered a tuna roll and a scallop roll and it’s hard to hide if the quality is poor. Enjoyed my tempura too, lightly battered. It was perfect! Nicely presented too. Going back to order party trays next week!“

“Did not have a reso because I wanted sushi spontaneously, arrived alone right at 5pm when they opened and didn’t have to wait. For any later I would definitely recommend reserving cause the place got full immediately. The fish was incredibly fresh and literally melted in my mouth, I was wowed! Comparable to my dining experiences in Japan. I think a small bowl of miso soup for $3.5 is not the most economic, but at least it’s high quality and WAY better than miso soup at chain restaurants. Overall for the portion of the food it was definitely not cheap, but that’s just inflation for ya… I’d still return in the future because it’s delicious.“

“I went to this (kind of) hidden gem in Richmond for some quality Japanese food and it DID NOT disappoint. I got the Unagi Set, the Sashimi Set, and the Sushi Set, and the Matcha Gelato.

The place is so well designed with a Japanese style interior!! It was nice and mostly quiet. Service is a bit slow - We tried calling our server over but it took quite a while for them to take our order…

Food was amazing. The tempura which came with the set had a crispy batter and crunch, the udon was perfectly chewy, and they had very nice tea (which is quite surprising.) Fish tasted fresh, unagi sauce was amazing. We ended off with the matcha ice cream, and there was a very strong earthy flavour to it. Only thing I would nitpick on for perfection is their wasabi and their ice cream could be creamier, hence being a gelato.

Overall, it was a fantastic experience here. Reasonable prices, good food, and great staff. Definitely coming again!“

“We made a reservation for dinner on Apr 22nd because we went the weekend before and it was 1 1/2 hour wait. The food was really good but small portions. We booked for 5:30pm and left at 8pm and not by choice. We took our 7 year old. His food came within about 20-30 minutes. While we got our miso, edamame and salad one at a time, It took over an hour to get our BBQ meat, and longer to get our bowls of rice. 2 1/2 hours to get our bill (with me stopping someone to ask for the bill). Our son was super excited to cook meat but was getting upset with all the waiting. Quite honestly, the 2 adults with him were too. But I would give it a try again because the food was good“

“We always come here for takeout sushi, and their sashimi is hands down the best. It has gotten more expensive over the years from $18 to $23 for 10 pieces but the quality is top tier, so you definitely get what you pay for.

The energetic Korean lady who’s always there has amazing customer service, and I honestly think she’s one of the reasons people keep coming back.

We always order their Famous Roll and sometimes the Chopped Scallop Roll. Compared to other sushi spots in Richmond, their sushi is rolled tightly, packed with flavor, and consistently good.

I’m not the biggest fan of their side dishes, though.
I find them a bit pricey for the portion size, and their okonomiyaki wasn’t my favorite.“

The sushi tasted extremely fresh, and the grilled skewers were perfectly cooked with great seasoning. You can really tell the kitchen puts care into every item on the menu. The portions were also generous for the quality and price.“

“I hadn't been here in a long time because I usually go to the Main location or the Oak location. My cousin was visiting from out of town, so we went straight from the airport to the Richmond location because we were all hungry.

We ordered the salmon sashimi, and the pieces were huge and thick, just like always. We also got the ikura and ika nigiri, and everything was fresh with no fishy taste at all. We ordered the Double Dragon Roll because we were craving unagi, and it was amazing. And of course, I had to get my favorite... the aburi salmon battera. It's hands down the best thing on the menu!!!

“I don’t even know where to begin with M Sushi Bar because WOW. This place completely exceeded every expectation I had. From the second we walked in, the atmosphere felt upscale, cozy, and genuinely welcoming. You can instantly tell this isn’t your average sushi spot — every single dish was plated like art and tasted even better than it looked.
The sushi and sashimi were unbelievably fresh… like melt-in-your-mouth fresh. Every bite tasted premium and carefully prepared. You can tell they actually care about quality here. The specialty rolls were packed with flavor without being overwhelming, and the presentation was honestly stunning. I caught myself taking photos of literally everything before eating it.
What really stood out to me was the attention to detail. The service was amazing — attentive, friendly, and super knowledgeable about the menu. Nothing felt rushed, and the whole experience felt more like a luxury dining experience than just going out for sushi.
Richmond has a LOT of sushi restaurants, but M Sushi Bar is on another level. This is the kind of place you go for birthdays, date nights, celebrations, or honestly whenever you want to treat yourself and feel spoiled.

“Tsujiri at OpenRoad Toyota Richmond is a unique and authentic Japanese café experience. The matcha, green tea, and soba were all excellent, giving a real taste of Japan. While enjoying your food, you can look around at the Toyota cars, which adds a unique touch to the setting. It feels like the café is tailor-made for the Japanese management, and we’re lucky to enjoy it with them. Big praise to the management for creating such an authentic Japanese atmosphere. The Japanese staff is super friendly and welcoming!“

“Used to dine at Fukuroku when it was a full-service restaurant with the rotating sushi plates. After moving away, I am so happy to discover that the Express location is just as good.

There are so many “hidden gems” promoted on social media, but this truly is one of them. I’m really glad I had the chance to stop by during a work trip, and I’ll definitely be back before heading home.

The sushi was perfect (rice-to-ingredient ratio was 👌), and the teriyaki chicken was incredibly moist and full of flavour. Salad came with a traditional Japanese dressing and tempura was delicious, crispy, and not greasy. Staff was very friendly and warm. 10/10!“

“Exceptional sushi! Beware of limited seating so make reservations or be prepared to wait on weekends! Quality is top notch and portions however are questionable for some dishes. For example Sunomono is high but the portion is ridiculously small. I understand prices are up for everything post covid but rice and noodles are still quite reasonable. Parking can be tough at times so be prepared to walk a bit down the street“

“Authentic. Only needs one word to describe this place. Spicy tuna don is my go to. Not made with that thick gloopy S sauce that a lot of places use. Shintaro uses a delicate sesame based chili sauce. One of the best sushi rice bowls in the lower mainland. Lunch menu is a relatively bargain for what you get but the dinner menu has some really delicious options, like the miso paste roasted eggplant. A must try while in Steveston.“

“Ordered seafood salad and my gf loved it. Ordered a chicken teriyaki box for myself and the chicken came as fried. Weird. Never had teriyaki chicken this style before but I guess this might be a fusion attempt or something g. Just not used to it.“
