“My wife and I have now made this our go to place instead of Big Way. It’s just a much nicer environment, and the food is always very delicious. We always pay a good tip at the register but…….. the one and only thing we see that needs attention. Is the attention to the sitting customers. Even when slow, the one big difference we see between the two places is unfortunately the lack of service once seated. We never see anyone coming around to refill the water, napkins, etc…. And when we’re ready to go have to look around to get their attention when we’re ready to leave for the ice cream and a container for left overs. I only mention this because when tipping it’s also for this service. Other than that everything else is great! Will keep coming back but hopefully this oversight is looked after. ✅“

“Yin Ji Chang Fen in Richmond is a decent spot for a casual Cantonese breakfast or lunch. We got the Lai Wan Style assorted congee, which was alright but nothing particularly amazing.

The rice rolls were the highlight for me. We ordered two varieties with shrimp, and pork & chives, and both were quite good. The texture of the rice rolls was smooth.

Our total came to $33 for 2 people and 3 items, which I think is a pretty reasonable price. Overall, a decent option if you’re craving Cantonese-style rice rolls and congee, but the rice rolls are what I’d come back for.“

“The XLB here are SO juicy! And the spicy beef noodle with sweet potato noodles makes my tastebuds wake up just thinking of this dish! I will have to go to this restaurant every time I go to the mall now! Not only is the food yum, but the young man taking the orders around 12:30pm on Oct 30th was amazing! He was so efficient, decisive, and excellent at his job! His parents would be proud if they saw him working. He even changed the print out paper roll literally in a finger snap. I’d hire him to run any fast-paced organization. When I ordered, I was 5th in line but the line moved fast. The line up was continuous—a testament to the food and this young person was not phased at all. I waited about 5 minutes for my order and noticed a person with a disability (perhaps post-stroke) make an order. He pointed at the item he wanted and the two people behind the counter were very gentle and attentive in trying to understand what the order was. They put things in a bag for him and I was really warmed to witness the kindness displayed in such a busy, bustling place. Well done, R & H Chinese Food!“

“The logo looks like a deli/meat store but it’s actually part of a chain. I haven’t tried the others (all a bit different) but this one came highly recommended by our foodie friends. Food: 5/5 - They have 12 must-order dishes including a fried eggplant 🍆 which was SO GOOD. A blast of flavour including spicy, savoury, sweet, and herb-y🌿? It was lightly fried and not too oily. Basically I loved it. Our second dish was not from the must-try only because I’m a huge sucker for sour-spicy clear noodles of any type. Although it was not as good as my favourite version of this dish from the Aberdeen food court (Sichuan style) HOWEVER Richie could actually eat this one because it wasn’t as spicy haha🔥. Essentially a “lighter” version but still packed with flavour. It came on a hard-to-reach, raised bowl but I think that’s easy enough to tweak. The restaurant is still new and feeling things out. Our last dish was an omu-rice mapo tofu (lol) and Richie loved it, “It hits the right flavour in every way - not too salty, not too spicy, great tangy-ness, a little oily but immensely appetizing.” The manager said that they make the chili oil and spices from scratch. Prior to our visit we also tried their “sauce duck” or 酱鸭 which is a “thick” soy sauce, sweet duck (think Cantonese/HK roasted duck but sweet) which might not be for everyone but it’s interesting and worth trying if you like food that’s both sweet and salty. There’s also a Nanjing salted duck that we’ll try next time😊. Service: 4/5 - There was only one server aside from the manager today but both were wonderful at checking in and very quick to react to our needs. It’s also the first weekend of “dining-in” again so I wouldn’t hold it against them. Price: $$ - They have a good mix of affordable and fancy choices alike. Ambiance: 3.5/5 - My only complaint is that it’s a too bright inside (I think mood is very important) and I’m not sure what they want to be. It’s not exactly fine dining nor is it casual, nor fun/hip. But the food is good enough that it doesn’t matter. “Sorry no photos too delicious to not start eating right away. They have appetizers the fries were a little stale by the time but everything else was fresh. Crispy chips, soy noodles, and Chinese side dishes. The grill is charcoal and it just adds that depth of flavor the meat selection is great. Went for the deluxe set and boy was it good. Lots options. Try the premium beef belly and the selection of porks. Oh free unlimited Ice cream in the end. I went here before on my birthday and had a group of 20. They can accommodate but make to call to reserve.

Sercice was also top notch. We had Alvin today and the guy is on top of it. Super nice too. Good recommendation.

“We were invited to this restaurant by our close Chinese friend and omg , the food was awesome! As a lamb lover, I was treated to such an amazing variety of lamb dishes on their menu. Super quick service and huge portions. They also have a brewery and serve their own lager and IPA. Highly recommend the Lager. The place is decorated tastefully and has plenty of seating areas. They could do slightly better in cleanliness. But an absolute must try for all lamb lovers!!!“

“At first, I honestly thought this was going to be another touristy Chinese restaurant in Richmond. I was very pleasantly surprised.

The food is Yunnan-style Chinese cuisine, and while I can’t speak to its authenticity since I’m not an expert on Yunnan food, I can say that I really enjoyed it. The flavors felt much more nuanced and interesting than the typical Chinese food I’ve had in North America.

And I have to say, my experience with Chinese food in the U.S. has been… pretty hit or miss, with a lot of it being disappointing. This meal was a completely different experience—fresh, flavorful, and actually exciting to eat.

Maybe there really is something to the reputation that Chinese food in Vancouver is on another level compared with American Chinese food. Richmond might have officially spoiled me.“

But Piping Hot is basically the same serve yourself and pay by weight.
The more it weights the more you pay. And they have a fried section!
When we went our friends got the fried part mixed up with someone else's 😂 but they corrected it (but was the funniest thing when we told the server) Otherwise it was good. They also include free Banana Ice Cream in a Fish... which was very tasty!. The fish was kinda hard though... but the Banada Ice Cream was superb!

“We’ve been coming to Happy Valley Village Restaurant for about three years, and one of the things that keeps bringing us back is how friendly and welcoming the staff are.
