Captain Wa Reviews
Great value. $15 for rice or noodles and 2 items from the steam table or $16 for rice or noodles and 3 items. The food was hot, the portions huge. There was enough food for two. I had the noodles, soya chicken, fried pork chop, and Chinese cauliflower. Everything tasted good. The Asian lady serving was friendly. Note, like many Asian businesses in Richmond it is cash only.
Great service and food!
Quick, fast, and surprisingly very tasty for a Chinese takeout type of environment.
Everything we had was tasty and she even gave us some free veggies.

Captain Wa is a hidden gem at Richmond Public Market, offering great value for money. For $54, customers can get four large orders that can feed 5-8 people, making it a popular choice for potlucks or large groups. The restaurant is about a 30-minute drive away, but many find the delicious and affordable food well worth the trip. They only accept cash, so visitors should come prepared. The servings are larger than other stalls, and dishes like fried squid tentacles are crispy and flavorful. The generous portions mean that one lunch box can easily feed two people. Customers appreciate the friendly staff, including a super sweet auntie, who are known for being accommodating. Takeout options like calamari and fried shrimps are praised for their freshness and crispiness. Captain Wa also caters for big events, providing extra food and easy service. While their crab and lobster options have fewer flavor choices, they are the go-to spot for these items, with Dungeness crab at $15 and lobster at $20. Many customers love ordering trays of food, especially the squid, honey spare ribs, and fish fillet, which have consistently been satisfying over the years. The soy sauce chicken is highly recommended for its tenderness and flavor, with generous portions that have impressed many. The broccoli and green beans are crispy and fresh, and the prices for quality dishes are considered very good. Although ordering can sometimes be chaotic, the staff’s friendly service makes up for it. Overall, Captain Wa remains a top choice for great, affordable Chinese food in Richmond.
