“Very tasty housemade noodles and beef roll. This small Xi An cuisine eatery with only 4 tables has very basic decor but the owner provides very good, personable service. I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty the food was. I’ll be back to try their other dishes, especially the housemade noodles and dumplings. They only take cash or debit.“

“We have lunched and dinned here for decades, through changes and renovations.
The service attained and maintained a consistent level of efficiency and courtesy for the last 2 decades.
We enjoy the dim sums which are always delicate, light but flavourful.
For dinner, some spectacular dishes require pre-orders. We always enjoyed the braised duck on a bed of savoury mixed mushroom (forgot the proper name of the dish), and many more.“

“I was introduced to this place through my friend. I was skeptical at first to try it, but man oh man it was delicious.
I had the beef noodles and it hit the spot, it was cooked very well and the broth was spot on. What I loved more about it was the owner who runs the place. He was so warm and welcoming.
I highly would recommend this place if you want the food to hit the spot and not cause damage to your pocket !“

“Had a weekday family dinner at Neptune Palace Seafood Restaurant. The dining room was spacious and easily fit our group, and the staff were attentive throughout the meal.
We ordered the Peking duck prepared two ways. The first course was crispy duck with thin crepes, green onion, cucumber, and sauce so everyone could make their own wraps. The second course used the chopped duck meat stir-fried with vegetables and served in lettuce cups. Both were enjoyable.
Other dishes we liked were the fresh seafood, crispy chicken, and the bite-sized spareribs braised in black vinegar, which were tender with a nice tangy flavour. Overall, a good spot for a family-style dinner with plenty of dishes to share.“

“I have been here several times now and I must say that nine dumplings is now my go to food spot when I am in a area of 30min transit. The man preparing the food is very kind and you can see his pasion for food. The ambience is perfect in my point of view. It is not the ambience of fine dining but a place where you can concentrate on the best dumplings you will ever have.
This is a must visit food spot 10/10“

“Overall experience here was great! The food was super fresh, customer service was on point as expected and the atmosphere was incredibly lively. There’s so much happening here which can get a bit overwhelming, especially with all of the clashing sounds. You’ve got the main music, birthday celebrations with tambourines and the hand pulled noodle guy that walks around with his own speaker! On top of that, it’s also incredibly busy. The only thing that genuinely made my table uncomfortable was the noodle guy. He came to our table and hit our friend in the face and head with the noodle multiple times. At first it was funny, but as it kept going we got increasingly more uncomfortable. He hit all 3 of us in the faces and the entire experience made us feel really weird. Other than that, everything else was great. The waiting area is super spacious and they have lots to do to keep you distracted and busy while you wait!“

“The owner was so kind—even though they were about to close, after hearing we came from far away, they specially stayed and made food for us. Great service, delicious food, and it really tasted like home. As someone from Hangzhou, I was so happy to find these authentic flavors here in Vancouver. Highly recommend!“

“I was getting so tired of having only burgers and pizza during my trip to Canada, and this place was an absolute lifesaver!
I ordered the Pad Thai and Green Curry, and both were incredibly delicious. The portions were huge, and the prices were very reasonable.
***A special shoutout to Peter, our Korean server. Thanks to him, we had such a fun and comfortable dining experience. Thank you so much!“

“Was excited to try but the food was just okay. But it may have a lot to do with the fact that I spent many years in Asia so the bar is high. Staff are nice. They don't take cash but they do accept US dollars so not a problem for an American tourist.“

“The photo attached is the 2nd plate of food. Why the 2nd plate of food you might ask?
The first dish I had, the teriyaki chicken, was so good I ended up devouring it. Didn't have time for a photo. I had to get another plate of something so I got a beef dish, Also a phenomenal dish. Both dishes took me by surprise on the flavours and generous portions they give out.
You kinda feel at home in there. The cooking feels like home cooking. The people are pleasant and welcoming.“

“This place has extremely massive portion sizes which are super worth the price. The noodles are handmade and chewy. The flavours are rich and tasty. Honestly, to compete with other places, maybe they could even cut down the portion size. 😂 They also give quite a bit of meat. The servers are friendly and nice.“

“If I could give Happy Lamb Vancouver 10 stars, I honestly would. The value here is unbeatable—the portions, the quality, and the overall experience are worth every dollar. The restaurant is spotless every time I visit, and you can tell they take real pride in keeping everything clean and comfortable. On top of that, the staff are incredible: friendly, attentive, and always willing to help without ever feeling rushed. It’s rare to find a place that nails great food, great service, and great atmosphere all at once, but this one does it perfectly“

“I love the eggplant and beef, it was very crispy and delicious! I also loved that they gave us a soy bean desert for free, and it was very delicious too! The service was wonderful and we didn’t have to wait long until food arrived. I find the atmosphere amazing and I loved the lights and the decorations inside the restaurant!“

“I am so impressed with their lunch specials! My fave was the green beans and beef with the hot and sour soup. Usually with lunch specials at restaurants the soup is small with scant things in it but their soup was LOADED with stuff (including a few little shrimp). The whole meal (with tea!) is just 13.95!! I don't know if they can continue to afford such a good deal for long so I plan to try and enjoy it as much as possible:). Also went there with a a few colleagues for family style and delicious.“

“The Xiaohongshu recommendation didn’t let me down — it’s seriously spicy, so satisfying, makes you sweat, and goes perfectly with rice. The taste is absolutely amazing. This Sichuan dish is top-tier, no flaws at all. The portion size matches the price perfectly. Delicious, highly recommend!“

“This restaurant offers an excellent dining experience with authentic Chinese seafood and home-style dishes. Every dish we tried was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, from the crispy pork to the tender chicken and vibrant vegetables. The lobster sticky rice was especially impressive, rich and fragrant with generous portions. The menu is well balanced, prices are reasonable, and daily specials are great value. Service is friendly and efficient, making the whole experience very enjoyable. Whether for family gatherings or casual dinners, this is a place I would happily return to and strongly recommend to friends.
I come here about once a month, and it never disappoints. I’ve brought many friends to try it, and everyone has loved it. I especially recommend the sweet and sour pork, typhoon shelter lobster, and white cut chicken.“

👉🏻 The staff were friendly and welcoming, making the dining experience easy and pleasant. They were quick to serve and helpful with recommendations. 😊
🍽️ Environment: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
👉🏻 It’s a small restaurant tucked along the street, so it’s not the easiest to spot at first. But once inside, it feels cozy and authentic, perfect for enjoying a comforting bowl of noodles. 🌸🏮“

“I used to go there a few times per week between 2016-2020 when they were nearby Yaletown, I always ordered beef fried rice to the point that the owners will ask me if I wanted the usual. I was sad to know that the owner injured his hand after years of chopping and cooking, and he was going to take a well deserved break. Very happy to know that they reopened! I have moved out from Vancouver but will definitely go back if I visit Vancouver again.“

“Fortune City Seafood Restaurant serves a variety of Chinese dishes on their menu. It's located at First Avenue Marketplace, there's free parking on the top and bottom floors. This restaurant has been a staple of the neighbourhood for many years. If you're in the area and want dim sum or a Cantonese style dinner you can give them a try.“

“My husband brought me here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. He was recommended to come by a friend and we were glad we came.
The owner was so nice and had messaged my husband with recommendations of dishes to try (some of which were not on the menu).
All his dishes were amazing and so delicious. As he is the only chef, dishes took a while to come out but we did not mind the wait at all. The server was nice and tended to us when we needed anything.
It was definitely worth our trip to downtown for this restaurant. Highly recommended!!“

“I came here for the first time recently and I'm already wanting to come back. The food was everything I wanted from a Chinese comfort meal. Everything was clearly handmade and the flavours and textures were all delicious. The cut wok fried noodles with cumin lamb were a highlight. Our server was also really attentive, helpful, and friendly. The only critique I'd give is that I wish the pork and chive dumplings were bigger but I know some people who prefer small dumplings, so maybe that's personal preference haha.“

“This was our first time trying their food and overall it was a good experience. We ordered 2 egg fried rice, one black bean sauce chow mein, and a combo meal that included hot and sour soup, shredded chicken chow mein, and breaded chicken.
Everything tasted really good — the flavors were well balanced and the portions were satisfying.
The only downside for us was the breaded chicken. We didn’t realize it would be coated in a sweet sauce. Personally, I’m not a fan of mixing sweet and savory flavors, and unfortunately the sauce ended up soaking into the noodles, making part of the dish sweet as well. That was the only part of the meal we didn’t fully enjoy.
Aside from that, the food was fresh and tasty, and we would consider ordering again — just with a different chicken option next time.“

“One of the most underrated Hong Kong spots in town. They serve genuinely authentic dishes — flavorful stir-fries and comforting congee — that are simply delicious. The warm welcome from the staff (and the owner) makes the whole experience even better. Highly recommended! You definitely don’t want to miss the wonton and congee :)“

“Reliable and consistent restaurant that you can always count on. Food is good and priced accordingly. Always hits the spot when you need a hot and fast meal. I’ve been coming here since it first open and it’s never a miss! Great space for all party sizes. The floors need a good scrub or deep clean but it’s the nostalgic feel of a good ol’ HK restaurant.“

“Fell into this place by accident while visiting Vancouver. So glad we did. Wonder to see the noodles made. cumin lamb was out of this world as was the scallion pancake. Peanut noodles portion was huge, we couldn't finish it. Price was very reasonable. Will return next time we visit. Located on W Broadway.“
“I’ve been here several times for lunch on workdays, and it’s quickly become one of my go-to spots. The food is consistently high quality and really captures authentic Yunnan flavors, which can be hard to find.
The tofu noodles are a standout—light, flavorful, and comforting without being too heavy. The beef rice noodles are also excellent, with rich broth and tender beef that hits the spot every time.
Service is quick and reliable, making it perfect for a weekday lunch break. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for genuine Yunnan-style noodles!“

“I came here in a rainy afternoon with a very hungry tummy after looking at their lunch combo signage for a while. Eventually I decided to give it a try.
The restaurant interior has a very casual and mediocre eatery layout. When I got in there some servers were having lunch so only one server was serving the guests. There wasn’t many guests that day as usual. The server was attentive and caring.
I ordered the combo of pork and preserved egg congee with the steamed glutinous rice with chicken in lotus leaf (Lo Mai Gai). The portion were good. Congee was nice and they had three pieces of Lo Mai Gai which is surprisingly good in terms of quantity. I had eaten all three and got so stuffed afterward. Overall it was satisfying.
This restaurant offers many choices of Chinese fishes including seafoods dishes of crabs and lobsters. It would be better for a group like family dinner as the prices are generally high compared to the peers.“

“Decent service. I ordered the dan dan noodles and salt and pepper chicken. The chicken was really good - juicy on the inside and not dry at all. The dan dan noodles came in a big portion, but I had to add some chili oil to make it spicier. The restaurant was a bit dark inside.“

“41 Noodle & Rice Pot House is a reliable go-to for simple, comforting meals when you don’t want to overthink your options. The takeout experience is smooth and efficient—orders are prepared quickly, and the packaging holds up well, keeping the food warm and intact by the time you get home.
Portions are fair for the price, making it a practical choice for a casual lunch or dinner. The flavors are solid and consistent, especially if you’re craving classic noodle or rice dishes without anything overly heavy or greasy. It feels like a place you can depend on for a straightforward, satisfying meal.
While it works well as a takeout spot, the quality suggests it would be worth trying dine-in next time to enjoy the dishes fresh off the stove. Overall, it’s a dependable neighborhood option that balances convenience and taste nicely.“

“As I stepped out of Chinatown BBQ and into the cruel, indifferent sunlight, a profound sense of foreboding washed over me. The door closed behind me with a finality usually reserved for funeral processions. I had just experienced culinary transcendence, and now I was doomed.
With each and every bite of the crispy pork, I experienced waves of pure joy washing over me like a child experiencing his first Christmas. I was consumed by a rhapsodic delight the likes of which I’ve never known. Every crispy, succulent morsel sent me spiraling into euphoria. For those brief, glorious moments, nothing else in the world mattered.
And yet… now it’s over.
Because at some point, I will have to eat again.
And how, pray tell, is any future meal supposed to compete with the standard that has now been permanently seared into my soul? Will I sit at my desk, staring hollow-eyed at my keyboard, haunted by memories of what once was? Will every future bite taste like betrayal? Will I spend the rest of my days chasing that sense of joy, forever haunted by ghosts of perfectly charred meat and transcendent sauces?
I fear my words may never fully capture the melancholic existential crisis now consuming me. Chinatown BBQ didn’t just serve dinner. It ruined all other restaurants for me. And I would happily doom myself again in a heartbeat.“
