“A great spot for a group meal with an interesting blend of Asian and French small plates. It was fun to start a meal off with some excellent beef tartare, have some amazing seafood dumplings and potstickers in the middle, and then close it out with a flat iron steak and pomme purée. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent!“

“We did the tasting menu and really enjoyed it! For $88/person, it’s a lot of food. We did order the pad Thai too, but found we really didn’t need it. Our favourites included the crispy duck salad, pork stir fry, the small bites at the beginning, and dessert. Service was very attentive and kind. Highly recommend trying Maenam out!

“This is quite possibly the best restaurant I’ve ever been to.

I don’t know if this is the typical experience, but whenever I go to a fine dining restaurant I end up enjoying the amuse-bouche and appetizers more than the entrees. Maybe I’ve just had bad luck. But not this place — every single dish was executed to perfection, and the mains were the best I’ve had of their kind: the fondue omelette, the pastas, and the fried fish were absolute standouts. The truffle fondue omelette in particular blew my mind. I can’t recommend this place enough!“

I was thoroughly impressed with the food and ambience, but was disappointed with the lack of service that I expected from a fine dining restaurant. I posted my original review with my experience, and management took the initiative to invite me back. My second visit met all my expectations. From the beginning to the end of our visit, all staff we interacted with were welcoming, accomodating, and attentive. I truly appreciate the improvements I observed in comparison to my previous visit. Again, food was amazing and the ambiance was great. “Oh my… this was quite an experience! When going there, letyourself be surprised by the Chef’s Menu (Menu dégustation in french). Surprise after surprise, it will make you live a real culinary experience! And our waiter (fluently bilingual) was excellent and vey passionate! Along with the lady who brought each plate and explained to us what they were. And finally the manager, I believe, who came over a few times to talk about the plates, the wine and how the pasta were made the same day, very early in the morning The wine suggestion was also perfect! “Super delicious food and amazing service, very thoughtful regarding allergies as well. The food and service were so good that my friend ate his entire bowl even though he was full as not to look as if he didn’t like his ramen!!!
The broth is super creamy! Free spicy option as well and inexpensive refill.

“We were seated at the bar which I loved. There is something about an open kitchen and watching people work who are clearly so passionate about what they do. We had the radicchio menu and it was incredible! We started with the scallops, too and added in the wagyu beef alone with the wine pairing and each course just got better and better. The wine pairings were perfect. The staff was kind and knowledgeable and really made the whole night perfect. I will certainly go back as well as check out Chef Andrea’s other places. Thank you for the best food experience I’ve had in years.“

“Delighted to find an exceptional Chinese restaurant downtown! Highlights included the fried crab balls, whole roast duck served two ways (Peking style and minced meat in lettuce wraps), and deep-fried crab with garlic, XO sauce, and stir-fried rice. Every dish was fresh and non-greasy. The polite and attentive staff provided excellent guidance on selecting a variety of dishes for our banquet. Although parking was a bit tricky to navigate, it was free—a nice added perk!“

1) Server poured the sparkling water that’s been opened for too long.
2) I was at the edge seat and my foot got stepped on a few times while the server changed the plates. Unfortunately no one said anything.“

“We had the Spaghetti Meatballs & Cherry Coke Ribs. The Spaghetti, eh, honestly, you could do better, forget the pasta at the pasta place lol. Those cherry coke ribs were so unbelievably good, and the side of Lemon Pepper Grilled Brussel Sprouts. OMG I would come here just for that. We finished off the night with a Tiramisu, and it didn't dissappoint. We will definitely be back. The only negative/ complaint if that, I notice a lot of people recommend it as a date spot, if you want to chat, dont bother, the place is so friggin loud lol“

“After reading the reviews, we just had to try it. We got the cod fish and chips, the halibut fish and chips and the clam chowder. My favorite was definitely the halibut fish, it’s juicy and crispy; the best fish and chips i’ve had. The cod fish wasn’t the best I wouldn’t order it again. Over all i would definitely recommend this place for a weekday lunch/dinner.“

“The Mackenzie Room is a must. Our bartender/sever Logan was so awesome and knowledgable. We did the tasting menu for 2 with red wine and added an extra dessert which they put on the house because we said we were celebrating. It's a place you could hang your hat - and we did. “We recently celebrated my husbands 40th birthday with an amazing dinner at Nightingale! There were 12 of us and had a family style dinner, which every plate that came out was amazing. I wish I lived in Vancouver because I would frequent Nightingale weekly. Service was prompt and they were consistently keeping the drinks flowing.“

“Every time I come here, my experience gets better and better. I’ve been here for lunch, dinner, and brunch. The prices are very reasonable for the quality, and the ambience is next level. The service is great too! Today, I went for brunch, which was really easy to book via OpenTable. I had the traditional Benny, which was delicious, and I tried my friends’ dishes as well – they were equally amazing. Highly recommend! It’s the perfect place to bring people visiting town.

Update: had a pretty disappointing experience the last time I went. Service was insanely slow. At some point I also asked for cream and sugar that never came, reminded him, it still never came and by the end of it, I had already finished my coffee.“

“Some of the best food we’ve ever had while living in Vancouver. We can’t wait to go back!! To start we got the Lean Lamb Merguez, and everything about this dish was perfect. The greens were refreshing, the homemade hot sauce was incredible, and the lamb was seasoned to perfection. “Wonderful place to try on an impromptu getaway to Vancouver. We did the tasting menu, and loved the flavors of the miso cured sablefish especially. The roasted pear for dessert was also a highlight. The owner explained several of the dishes and the sake menu to us, and was a delight to talk to.“

“One of the best Mexican restaurants in Vancouver, although be prepared to pay steep prices. The quality is similar to the taco stands found in LA and San Diego, but at a cost.

We ordered the taco trio which came at a whopping $26. The taco filling was delicious, very richly textured, and bursting with fresh ingredients. But at almost $9 per taco, it's quite mind boggling when it's a $2 USD street food item.

We also ordered a bunch more other items, all very good: guacamole with nachos, baked cheese portobello mushroom, a chili soup, and beef tortillas. They all were a bit salty; I came home and drank at least 3 cups of water within a few hours.

Service was attentive and polite, and our wait staff checked in on us at appropriate timepoints without being overbearing during our dinner.

Parking is paid on the street, and a bit hit and miss depending on the day and time.

Overall, a more upscale experience than what you can find in Vancouver, with authentic dishes made with a tasteful approach. I would return and interested to try out their entrees in the future.“

“Oh my god! I loved all the dishes we ordered! Each dish has its own character and was tasty!! Kale salad was the best salad I’ve ever had! Duck breast had smokey maple taste and it was so soft! “Loved every minute of our dining experience here! The aromas upon entering this wee spot got us excited, the welcoming staff were lovely, and then...the food. We ordered Omakase C - Cofu and were delighted! The presentation is artful, but not fussily so. The flavours were layered and subtle so every ingredient could be tasted. Our favourite was the salmon sushi (we ordered an extra 8 pieces!), rich, decadent and delish, especially with the Cilantro Cucumber sauce. We tried the Restore and Elevate mushroom tinctures on the rocks; unexpected flavours, but they grew on us paired with the food and a little ice melt dilution. We will go back time and again to try everything on the menu. Highly recommended!“
