“We had such a wonderful experience on March 17, 2026 at Miku Japanese Restaurant at River Rock Hotel. From the moment we arrived, the service was truly top-notch—the staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and made us feel genuinely cared for. What really stood out was their thoughtfulness and attentiveness. As soon as they noticed that one of our friends was wearing a veil and the rest of us had our Team Bride sashes on, they kindly arranged a private dining room for us. It made the celebration feel even more special and intimate. The ambience was also fantastic—cool, relaxing, and enhanced by a great selection of music. The warm, Japanese-style décor added a beautiful and authentic touch to the overall dining experience. We also appreciated the complimentary non-alcoholic drinks, especially since we had decided not to drink before going swimming. It was such a considerate gesture that didn’t go unnoticed. And of course, the food was amazing—every dish was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. “We had momo sushi while visiting vancouver and we're super impressed!! We had the tower for three. We were expecting more maki sushi and less raw but it gave us a chance to try more raw sushi. The atmosphere is very unique. I noticed the review complaing about stroller access , definatly nkt a place for a stroller or a highchair as the restaurant sinks via stairs into the ground ( we found it super fun) as for the review saying if you wanted frozen fish you would go to IGA the only way to make raw fish safe to eat is to freeze it at a certain temperature first. 🙄 i know im being a bit of a troll here but those comments were not a reflection of Momo.

“Asa Sushi is a great spot if you're craving both Japanese and Korean cuisine. The food is consistently solid, with plenty of delicious options to choose from.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the girls working there were especially kind and attentive to my 8-year-old, which made our visit even more enjoyable. The restaurant has a lively, welcoming vibe and is usually busy—a good sign that it's a local favorite.

“Went there with my wife and was pleasantly surprised by how cool the aesthetic of the place is. It feels like they've recreated the vibe of Japan in the 80s and 90s, with a retro, old-school Japanese atmosphere that makes the experience feel really unique.

Such a cool spot to grab a couple of beers and enjoy some Japanese food. In my case, I went for the tonkatsu set with rice, salad, and miso soup. The sushi was a little on the pricey side for me, so I decided to go with the tonkatsu instead and I wasn't disappointed!

Definitely worth checking out for the atmosphere alone. A great spot for a casual date night or a couple of drinks with some good food.“

I will say this is really nice place, nice food for a chill dinner. Although the Karaage was with the bones which I didn’t really appreciate for the price. The sushi was really good in terms of quality but like with nothing speciale just basic. I think they could improve quality with just some details.“

“So, this was my first time here and i enjoyed some of the finer details: the Miso soup was some of the best ive ever tasted and the green tea was lovely and delicious. I enjoyed my table that overlooked the bustle on Commercial drive.

My chicken teriyaki was terrific and elevated --- i appreciated the different veggies (brussels? Red peppers? Zuchinni? I was delighted at the addition of these --- much cooler than the usual bean sprouts, cabbage et al.) on the hot skillet. My soft shell crab was great, but would have been great to share.

“I have Celiac and without even asking they immediately check if a gluten-free menu is needed which was beautiful and glorious. The food was visually stunning but also so delicious. Genuinely some of the best sushi I have ever experienced. I was blown away by the Sakura Roll in particular. It was genuinely so divine and I think completely vegetarian if i remember correctly which also blew me away because generally I love the fish ones. My friend even liked it and it had mushrooms in it which they despise but still ate!! Truly mwah chef's kiss, 1 million points to the chef. I was also surprised to see they have a gf vegetarian ramen! I have never gotten to experience that and it wasn't my favourite but I could still tell it was made with love and was quite delicious regardless. I also had the Kyoto Roll which was my second favourite because im a d1 freak for mango, the Konnichiwa roll which was good! I ordered far too much for one person to consume to experience it and I'm still eating my choices with a flight at 3:15pm later. Our waiter was soso sweet and adorable and had a conversation with us because I complimented their piercings and they told us about how they just moved there and would love recommendations on where to get pierced as they saw my face of piercings and I was like haha, I've been here twice. But I hope they find the piercer of their dreams thats as sweet and kind as my local piercer“

On the other hand, we were disappointed by the quality of the seaweed which was gummy and had no flavor. Rice also needs some improvement. Finally the chairs felt a bit low for the counter.“

“Grabbed a table at Octopus Garden Saturday around 7pm with a few friends and the place had a great buzzing energy without being too loud to talk. The grilled octopus was honestly the best I've had in Vancouver, perfectly charred and tender, and we ended up ordering a second plate before dessert. Our server kept the wine recommendations coming and never made us feel rushed even though we camped out for almost three hours. Parking was easy to find nearby too, which made the whole night that much smoother.“

The absolute highlight was the Tuna Kimbap unlike typical tuna kimbap made with canned tuna, this one uses fresh raw tuna with crab meat and sesame oil. It was super unique and delicious! The vegetable tempura was the best I’ve had. It was light, and flakey, crispy on the outside and soft and sweet on the inside.

The negitoro had a generous amount of tuna and was super tasty. We were able to go there when other places were closed.
