“Phenomenal food. Ordered the soba noodles soup, spicy salmon rolls, and some various tempura. Food all tasted very fresh. However, it is on the pricier end and the portions could be a little larger.
The service is great too! They check in on you just enough to make sure you are good but not so much as they do in most typical restaurants. Excellent ambience and experience overall.“

“In my 47 years I've eaten at hundreds or even thousands of restaurants. Some would say I'm a "food reviewer" or a "foodie"; I say, I'm merely indulgent. Koto Izakaya has perfectly blended the two sides of the restaurant business to formulate a warm and greeting atmosphere the moment you step into the restaurant. The food is impeccable and perfect to satisfy any craving of sushi or protein.
Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian dishes such as an assorted tomato side.
Dietary restrictions: Watch out if your allergic to fish
Kid-friendliness: Brought my kids here and they had a lot of fun as well. Loved the place and would love to come back.“

“Everything was fantastic. Hadn't visited since the pandemic, and I was incredibly satisfied with the quality and service. The unagi nigiri and chutoro were the highlights of the meal, in addition to the chef's choice sashimi and nigiri plates. Sushi Hachi has been in my top 3 for 15+ years.“

“I recently dined at SYU and had a great experience overall. The ambiance is like small Izakaya. Each dish was beautifully presented and Aburi sushi was fresh and delicious but a bit on the pricier side.
(I remembered one piece of Toro was $12) The squid dish was rich and creamy but a bit salty for my taste. Our server was very friendly!“

“This is many of my friends favorite sushi place in Vancouver. I came for the lunch menu and got the sushi set and eel in broth soba set. It was really good! The eel one is something I've never seen before as it usually comes with rice, super yummy.“

“Finally after so many years I went to this restaurant, always pass by it and never got the chance to go try... Got the Yakisoba and teriyaki beef bento set today, came with California roll and a little salad on the side, portion was enough for a fat dude like me... all for about 17.00 including everything which is quite decent for prices now days... Atmosphere inside was quiet, clean and relaxed.. would definitely start going when back in Richmond..“
“Great sushi spot in Richmond if you're willing to spend a few extra bucks! We ordered the following for two:- uni cream udon- volcano scallop roll- red n blue roll- hamachi sashimi (6 piece)- aburi sushi combo (2 orders)- ube puree ice cream (2 orders)- x1 beer for myselfEverything tasted great and the quantity was just enough for 2 people. The only item I wasn't a huge fan of was the uni cream udon, to me it just tasted like mac n cheese sauce on udon noodles...but it wasn't too bad.My favorite was the Red n Blue roll. It was fresh and delicious! ? I also enjoyed the ice cream dessert with the ube noodles thing on top of (matcha flavoured?) ice cream.Service was good as well. We got seats as soon as we walked in on a Friday night. Surprisingly this place wasn't busy on a Friday night, perhaps it was the price of their menu, but either way it worked out for us! Servers were attentive and friendly.Only con would be the location. Parking here is brutal during dinner time on weekends since it's located in a small lot.Overall I would recommend this place if you want some great quality sushi and other Japanese food and don't mind spending a little more...ok maybe a lot more ?.(full disclosure: we spent about $240 total with tip)“

“The portions are generous, the ingredients are fresh, the prices are reasonable, and it's easy to find a parking spot. The restaurant is not very large, and the serving speed is a bit slow. The tip setting is reasonable.
Parking: Shared parking lot for businesses in the commercial area“

“A nice local family run business. Very welcoming customer service when you walk in. Service was very friendly and the entrees we had were good. You can't beat the quality, price and the good service. One of the few places in Richmond that, does not nickle and dime you by charging for containers either. They accept cash and also debit, which is nice.“

“The background music was too loud so we asked to sit outside under the covered patio. Much better. We ordered edamame, prawn tempura both excellent. I ordered the soft shell crab California roll. It was nice but nothing spectacular… I just wanted to sample the crab. The salmon sashimi and teriyaki chicken bento box looked quite appetizing. The pear dessert was ice cream shaped like a pear then dipped in chocolate.“

“Parents frequent here more than a few times per month, but mostly because they like the bit oily stir fry items on the menu.
The Korean spin on the recipes of certain sushi combos are interesting, but nowadays they come so heavily sauced to a point where I have trouble distinguishing the ingredients.
The sushi and sashimi isn't altogether too fresh, sometimes they come still with bits not thawed out. A few times my entire tray of tuna sashimi combo was served frozen.
Since 2022, you'd start to notice that the portions are alot smaller, and the cost cutting have become really visible. Especially more noticeable on takeaway items, based on more than 20 times taking out in recent years, just don't do takeout.“

“The sushi here is very good and well priced. 6 large rolls for 5.50-6.00. However, they just went up in price, I come here often and last week the price raised up.
Parking: Daytime has lots of people, hard to find parking.“

“Very friendly staff and helpful. Excellent and large selection of Japanese foods. There are teriyaki and other bowls, sushi slices, sushi rolls, bento boxes of various types. Both snack size and full sized meals. There is even a selection of frozen items in their freezer on the side. This is takeout only, as there is no seating.“
“Maybe I went at a bad time, but their selection is way smaller than the east Vancouver one. Price is alright, but the display was much smaller. The quality is equally good in comparison to the other locations. If you are in the area and looking for a quality quick bite of sushi, or just wanted to pack some food on the go, Fujiya has never disappointed! Cant wait to try their other selections!“

“Such a good a sushi place, been going here for awhile and love it, new staff member Jamie was so lovely to deal with, she made a mistake on our order by accident (it happens!) & fixed it right away she was very friendly and sweet hope to get her as our waitress next time we eat in! Thanks again for everything Jamie!“
