“During a recent business trip, I craved sushi and decided to visit Sushi Hachi because it was conveniently close to my hotel. It truly was the highlight of my trip. The husband-and-wife owners were incredibly warm and welcoming from the moment I arrived, which delivered an exceptional dining experience. This was easily the finest sushi I have experienced in Canada. Whether you are visiting the area for business or leisure, I highly recommend dining at Sushi Hachi.
Important Tip: Reservations are essential and should be booked well in advance to secure a table.“

“Absolutely amazing experience at Toko! Everything from the food to the service was outstanding. The dishes were fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. You can really tell that a lot of care goes into both the ingredients and the preparation.
What impressed me just as much was the service. Everyone was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere is also fantastic — stylish, comfortable, and perfect for a nice dinner.

“Quiet to not so quiet sushi restaurant.

Parking was shared parking lot but all restaurants sharing the lot are busy and some are large so finding a parking spot could be a challenge during a meal time rush. Thankfully, there's and upper lot that has a few unmarked spots.

Staff were friendly and a bit...awkward. They try to be service oriented but still seem not. Perhaps there's no training provided.

Food was good. I liked everything ordered.

“Took my family to dinner here as it's close to where we are staying. Been passing this place many times just didn't think they can accommodate us. 4 out of us 5 are vegetarians and I am not. Their miso soup and Agedashi tofu are vegetarian and tasty. The vegetarians ordered the tray which came with variety of rolls. I ordered their sweet shrimp, salmon belly and scallop sashimi. All very tasty. The staff was cheerful and helpful. Gave us great suggestions. Loved the experience over all.“

“Used to dine at Fukuroku when it was a full-service restaurant with the rotating sushi plates. After moving away, I am so happy to discover that the Express location is just as good.

There are so many “hidden gems” promoted on social media, but this truly is one of them. I’m really glad I had the chance to stop by during a work trip, and I’ll definitely be back before heading home.

The sushi was perfect (rice-to-ingredient ratio was 👌), and the teriyaki chicken was incredibly moist and full of flavour. Salad came with a traditional Japanese dressing and tempura was delicious, crispy, and not greasy. Staff was very friendly and warm. 10/10!“

“Sushi Crave has a good selection of Japanese dishes at affordable prices. There are plenty of options on the menu, making it easy for everyone to find something they enjoy.

The kids' meal was a nice surprise. The sushi is served on a cute airplane-shaped plate, which made the meal much more fun for the kids.

We also ordered the seafood udon. The broth was decent, and I was surprised that it included quite a bit of fish. However, I was expecting a wider variety of seafood, such as more shrimp, clams, mussels, or octopus, so the dish didn't quite match what I had in mind.

The sushi combo was good. The raw fish tasted fresh and was better than average for this price range. The portions were fair, and everything was prepared well.

The staff were okay. They weren't particularly friendly, but they were polite and provided reasonable service.

I don't think this is an authentic Japanese restaurant run by Japanese owners, but they still serve decent Japanese food. If you're looking for reasonably priced sushi with a good selection, it's a solid option.“

“Really great sushi spot thats not overpriced! Staff is super friendly, i feel like family every time I come here. Food is fantastic,i usually get a few rolls and some gyozas. Its also the perfect spot if you need groceries but also something to eat. Ill order, go pick up a few things at the store next door, and come back and its ready to go!“

“Largest portion I have ever seen in my life. Can’t even fit a piece of avocado roll in one bite. The nitpicks I have is, the imitation crab is too salty and I don’t understand why they only accept cash in the restaurant but is also on Uber Eats, where you pay ANYTHING except cash.“

“Ate here last night, was OK, ordered the Soft Shell Crab appetizer and the Chirashi Don main. The main came out first before the appetizer, the fish seemed mushy, it wasn’t firm as I’ve had in the past at other Sushi restaurants. The Soft Shell Crab was lukewarm and the sauce on the crab was overpowering.“

“Very quaint and cozy atmosphere. Service is attentive and on the ball. Grill is changed without having to request it and they notice when the heat is too high or too low.

The beef tongue and beef finger meat were generous portions. The scallop roll was very fresh and there was lots of wasabi given.
You can request the beef tongue to be sliced thin if you please. There is aburi engawa on the menu and it was definitely a melt in your mouth texture.

Enjoyed the decor and seating. Good for a late night spot.

“Since hubby misses Japan (the food especially) immensely, I decided to bring Japan to him for his birthday! It was more than we could've hoped for from the gracious hosts, Chef Ray and wife Christine, to the gorgeous presentation of each course, the preparations of each item, the texture, the taste and the cosy atmosphere. We savoured each bite, while enjoying the friendly banter between the hosts and a couple of their regulars at the bar seating. Highly recommend! side note: I was impressed by just how meticulous and thoughtful they are when I saw they even put a little decor under the washroom sink.“

“Authentic. Only needs one word to describe this place. Spicy tuna don is my go to. Not made with that thick gloopy S sauce that a lot of places use. Shintaro uses a delicate sesame based chili sauce. One of the best sushi rice bowls in the lower mainland. Lunch menu is a relatively bargain for what you get but the dinner menu has some really delicious options, like the miso paste roasted eggplant. A must try while in Steveston.“

“Super happy with this little sushi place. I called ahead regarding gluten free options and I got a rundown of how they can alter rolls to be gf, and that the nigiri is gluten free. They also supply gf soya sauce. The portions are very generous. I don't think I've had salmon nigiri with such large slices of salmon.
We had no wait coming in, but if it's super busy they do have a good system with a whiteboard. No reservations are taken.
I ordered through the server as she suggested this was best to flag my gf order, but there is a tablet available at the booths as well.
Service was great and super fast.“
