“Sushi Hachi may be the most homey intimate restaurant I've visited. Run by a lovely couple, this was a perfect date night and would be an absolute hit for fish lovers.

The nigiri is an absolute 5/5 and a must-try for any true sushi lover. Engawa was unfortunately not on the menu, so we opted for something adventurous instead: ankimo (monkfish liver), and it really delivered. Perfect richness well balanced by the sauce and radish.

While the unagi battera and the roll were more standard, the fish was stellar across the board. Everything was incredibly fresh, sizable, and came with a good amount of pre-added wasabi.

Ordered a la carte nigiri: scallop, hamachi, chutoro, sea bream, hirame were all delicious. The marinated piece of bluefin with ginger adds a nice balance, though it wasn't my preference. Grilled fish was a tasty add on to diversify the spread at a really reasonable pricetag too!

“Visited Syu in Richmond in Aug 2026. Got a little lost cause our GPS sent us around in circles. It wasn't too busy during lunch.

Ordered the Unagi Don Set ($29) and the Grilled Saikyo Miso Black Cod & Udon Set ($39) as well as the Hotate and Uni Millefeuille ($25). We liked the appy - it had scallops stacked with uni and was fresh and creamy.

The sets are good value and come with a lot of food... Tender and slippery udon noodles, light and crispy tempura, and tako wasabi

The unagi was quite good as well. Reminiscent of a meal we might have in Japan. Prices are a bit on the higher side but good quality.“

“I’ve been coming to Koto Izakaya for years, and it has consistently been one of my go-to spots. The food is always fresh and delicious, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the service has always been friendly and attentive.

What I appreciate most is the consistency. After all these years, I can still come in knowing I’m going to have a great meal and a good experience. Whether it’s a casual dinner, drinks with friends, or just satisfying a Japanese food craving, Koto never disappoints.

It’s always nice to support a restaurant that continues to take care of its customers year after year. Definitely a place I’m happy to keep coming back to.

It was more than we could've hoped for from the gracious hosts, Chef Ray and wife Christine, to the gorgeous presentation of each course, the preparations of each item, the texture, the taste and the cosy atmosphere. “Used to dine at Fukuroku when it was a full-service restaurant with the rotating sushi plates. After moving away, I am so happy to discover that the Express location is just as good.

There are so many “hidden gems” promoted on social media, but this truly is one of them. I’m really glad I had the chance to stop by during a work trip, and I’ll definitely be back before heading home.

The sushi was perfect (rice-to-ingredient ratio was 👌), and the teriyaki chicken was incredibly moist and full of flavour. Salad came with a traditional Japanese dressing and tempura was delicious, crispy, and not greasy. Staff was very friendly and warm. 10/10!“

“Sushi Crave has a good selection of Japanese dishes at affordable prices. There are plenty of options on the menu, making it easy for everyone to find something they enjoy.

The kids' meal was a nice surprise. The sushi is served on a cute airplane-shaped plate, which made the meal much more fun for the kids.

We also ordered the seafood udon. The broth was decent, and I was surprised that it included quite a bit of fish. However, I was expecting a wider variety of seafood, such as more shrimp, clams, mussels, or octopus, so the dish didn't quite match what I had in mind.

The sushi combo was good. The raw fish tasted fresh and was better than average for this price range. The portions were fair, and everything was prepared well.

The staff were okay. They weren't particularly friendly, but they were polite and provided reasonable service.

I don't think this is an authentic Japanese restaurant run by Japanese owners, but they still serve decent Japanese food. If you're looking for reasonably priced sushi with a good selection, it's a solid option.“

“Great little Japanese restaurant at Steveston for a quick meal! Their lunch set is really worth the price. The service was okay overall. Was a little disappointed when the servants missed my order and I had to remind them twice… but the rest was okay.“

“Super happy with this little sushi place. I called ahead regarding gluten free options and I got a rundown of how they can alter rolls to be gf, and that the nigiri is gluten free. They also supply gf soya sauce. The portions are very generous. I don't think I've had salmon nigiri with such large slices of salmon.
We had no wait coming in, but if it's super busy they do have a good system with a whiteboard. No reservations are taken.
I ordered through the server as she suggested this was best to flag my gf order, but there is a tablet available at the booths as well.

“We had to stop by an ATM before getting our sushi because this place is cash-only, but it was totally worth it! Huge portions of rolls and super fresh nigiri — one of the best sushi places I’ve tried in Vancouver. The salmon was especially good quality!

The wasabi wasn’t too spicy, so it’s also great for anyone who wants to try Japanese-style sushi without it being too overwhelming. The owner seemed Chinese haha, but the sushi was great! Also the photo menu made it really easy to order too. We ordered #22, and if I come back, I’d definitely bring 3–4 more people to try their family menu. Everything looked so delicious and fresh!“
