“One of the most luxurious sushi experiences I’ve had. If you’re looking for $7 California rolls, this is not the place for you. This was an experience from start to finish.
I started with the miso soup, which was solid, but the tako sunomono was the standout early on. Perfectly balanced acidity, generous portions of octopus, and incredibly fresh.
Next was the Miyazaki A5 Wagyu Aburi alongside the yellowtail and tuna belly nigiri. Absolutely incredible. The wagyu had an amazing char and melted in your mouth, while the fish was rich, fatty, and velvety smooth.
To finish, I asked the server to recommend a roll and she suggested the Takas Fire Roll. It did not disappoint.

I didn’t realize they were closing just 7 minutes before I ordered, yet they were incredibly kind and gracious enough to turn the grill and fryer back on. That alone says so much about their customer service. I ordered the Shrimp Tempura Roll, Golden Cali Roll, and Chicken Teriyaki. The sushi was absolutely amazing, and the teriyaki was not only delicious but came in a portion size big enough for three meals! Between the outstanding food, exceptional service, and very fair pricing, SKAI Sushi has definitely earned a loyal customer. Bonus points for being high quality without breaking the bank. “I usually like this Japanese restaurant, I have introduced this to my friends, students, family and friends. I tried their sashimi salad and boy am I disappointed. I ask the server if it’s a Japanese recipe or Korean recipe, it tasted and smelled like kimchi. I like kimchi but I’m in a Japanese restaurant so I am expecting a Japanese cuisine. The sashimi salad doesn’t taste good at all it even has a bitter taste on it. When I mentioned it to the server she didn’t say anything, I felt ignored. In spite of that I will still eat there ( but will never try again their sashimi salad, not recommended needs to change their dressing) because I love their chicken teriyaki and their deluxe tempura. I also find them not that expensive.“

It can’t be compared to sushi from a dedicated restaurant made right before you ordered it, but here you can get 5 pieces of salmon nigiri, an entire cucumber roll, salmon/avocado roll and California roll all for $19. Obviously inspect the dates it was made and don’t buy it if it’s old - have only seen that once. Normally it’s all made recently and looks/tastes pretty good.“

“I've tried many sushi places and Sushi Wara is definitely the best I've tried so far! Their California rolls blow everyone else's out of the water and their chicken karaage is better than dedicated chicken restaurants!

I've ordered here constantly using Uber eats and never had any problems with delivery time being long.

“The sushi is the freshest you will get anywhere and their portions are generous while the price is very reasonable. We've been three times lately and it's always great. The restaurant is a hole-in-the-wall type, so not much they can do to make it glamourous, but it is so worthwhile.

Parking: Its at the edge of a mall so lots of parking, or if you live in Newton Village, very walkable.“

“If you order the chicken karaage, be prepared for the clarity on life it will provide you. The second I took a bite of it, I instantly called all my relatives and invited them to my bar mitzvah next week.

Unfortunately, I did not feel the same way about the beef yakiudon. There was so much sauce in this dish, that I instantly ran home and drank 50 gallons of water. To this day, I am still drinking water to offset the damaged onto my body.“

“I ordered omakase nigiri, mackerel and eel hako sushi, black cod saikyo yaki, and agedashi-tofu to takeout for our anniversary dinner. All of them are amazing! Especially, mackerel hako sushi was the best of all mackerel that I ate in Canada. Not only the fish, sushi rice was so good! Thanks to these great foods, we could spend the great anniversary! If you are looking for the real Japanese amazing sushi, I strongly recommend Yugafu!“

“I don’t usually write food reviews, but Todai Sushi deserves one.

I stopped in for lunch today and ordered their lunch box. For just $17, it comes with tea, soup, and a generously portioned box — already an excellent value. What really impressed me, though, was the care and attention to detail in every item.

The teriyaki beef was freshly pan-fried, with the meat and vegetables separated so the beef sits nicely on top. It’s the first time I’ve seen a lunch box done this way, and it made a big difference. The vegetables had just the right amount of oil — flavorful but not greasy.

The California roll was a standout too. Unlike many places that pull pre-made rolls straight from the fridge, these were fresh and at a perfect temperature. The size, portion, and balance between rice and fillings were spot on.

Then there was the tempura. It was made fresh to order, with a thin, delicate batter that gave the ideal ratio of crunch to softness. The coating actually stuck to the ingredients (unlike the thick, heavy, or flaky batter I’ve had elsewhere).

I still can’t believe how much thought and quality went into a $17 lunch box. Todai Sushi is doing it right — keep up the excellent work!“

“I used to live in Fleetwood and we loved to either visit Tobiko's or pick up takeout. I have moved to White Rock and wanted good sushi with a friend - so we decided to make our way to Tobiko. I was very happy to see the same sushi chef (likely owner) and the 2 ladies receiving customers were SO FRIENDLY to us and all customers who came in (I always notice service).
