The best of the best in our area. Authentic and owned and run by a Japanese family. We won’t go anywhere else. Food is amazing and service equally as amazing.
Overall, the food was quite fresh, but the prices were on the higher side. For this price point, the flavors weren’t particularly outstanding. Personally, I found the tempura to be the most enjoyable dish.
Quaint family run Japanese restaurant. Enjoyed our dinner the traditional way in a tatami room. Service was awesome and the food was delicious.

Kappa Japanese Restaurant in White Rock has been a local favorite for over 40 years. Known for its authentic Japanese cuisine, this family-owned establishment offers a cozy and intimate dining experience in traditional tatami rooms inside a century-old building. The menu features must-try dishes like the beach roll, Uni sushi, spicy seared tuna, and tempura, which many find to be particularly enjoyable. The food is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, showcasing authentic Japanese craftsmanship. Despite limited seating and being open only 3 days a week, guests are always welcomed warmly. Reservations are definitely recommended to secure a spot. For a true taste of Japan in the lower mainland, Kappa is a hidden gem worth visiting.
