We had left the restaurant and walking to our car when she followed us outside and questioned about her service. What she was inquiring about was her tip that she felt she was entitled to! After informing her the tip was on the table she immediately turned around and left without offering a thank you. What the hell?“

“I ordered omakase nigiri, mackerel and eel hako sushi, black cod saikyo yaki, and agedashi-tofu to takeout for our anniversary dinner. All of them are amazing! Especially, mackerel hako sushi was the best of all mackerel that I ate in Canada. Not only the fish, sushi rice was so good! Thanks to these great foods, we could spend the great anniversary! “I don’t usually write food reviews, but Todai Sushi deserves one.

I stopped in for lunch today and ordered their lunch box. For just $17, it comes with tea, soup, and a generously portioned box — already an excellent value. What really impressed me, though, was the care and attention to detail in every item.

The teriyaki beef was freshly pan-fried, with the meat and vegetables separated so the beef sits nicely on top. It’s the first time I’ve seen a lunch box done this way, and it made a big difference. The vegetables had just the right amount of oil — flavorful but not greasy.

The California roll was a standout too. Unlike many places that pull pre-made rolls straight from the fridge, these were fresh and at a perfect temperature. The size, portion, and balance between rice and fillings were spot on.

Then there was the tempura. It was made fresh to order, with a thin, delicate batter that gave the ideal ratio of crunch to softness. The coating actually stuck to the ingredients (unlike the thick, heavy, or flaky batter I’ve had elsewhere).

I still can’t believe how much thought and quality went into a $17 lunch box. Todai Sushi is doing it right — keep up the excellent work!“

“I used to live in Fleetwood and we loved to either visit Tobiko's or pick up takeout. I have moved to White Rock and wanted good sushi with a friend - so we decided to make our way to Tobiko. I was very happy to see the same sushi chef (likely owner) and the 2 ladies receiving customers were SO FRIENDLY to us and all customers who came in (I always notice service). The sushi was as good as I remembered and wish Tobiko's was closer to me. Excellent job Tobiko's and I will try to get back more often! 5 STARS ALL THE WAY.“

“Nice Sushi is one of my favorite sushi spots in the area. The portions are very generous! Every time I come here, I leave completely full (and happily so!). The fish is fresh, the rolls are well made, and you truly get great value for what you pay.
What really sets this place apart is the warm and thoughtful service. The staff are always friendly and care about their customers. You feel welcomed the moment you walk in.

“This is a quality sushi place. The sushi was B+, but the price was an excellent deal. The Bento Box was a fairly big - didn't finish the Tempura. Cali roll was very good. This place is 5 stars because the dishes were huge (also had the wild salmon teriyaki), and the service/bathrooms/seating were immaculate. We will go back. Next time I'll stick to the sushi & maybe a salad. For some reason, Sushi places in BC are so much better/cheaper than US. Go eat at Momo Taro if you're hungry or on a budget.“

“I usually like this Japanese restaurant, I have introduced this to my friends, students, family and friends. I tried their sashimi salad and boy am I disappointed. I ask the server if it’s a Japanese recipe or Korean recipe, it tasted and smelled like kimchi. I like kimchi but I’m in a Japanese restaurant so I am expecting a Japanese cuisine. The sashimi salad doesn’t taste good at all it even has a bitter taste on it. When I mentioned it to the server she didn’t say anything, I felt ignored. In spite of that I will still eat there ( but will never try again their sashimi salad, not recommended needs to change their dressing) because I love their chicken teriyaki and their deluxe tempura. I also find them not that expensive.“
