“We found Yume Dining almost by accident on the way home, when hunger struck and my daughter decided she wanted Japanese-style pasta. A rather specific emergency, but fortunately Google Maps provided.
And this really does taste Japanese.
My daughter ordered the mala pasta and the mentaiko pasta, and both were excellent. The mala pasta was genuinely mala, not the timid sort that merely waves at a chilli from across the kitchen. It eventually proved too spicy for her, so she surrendered it to me. A terrible sacrifice on my part, naturally. I finished it very happily.
I also ordered the Salmon Cold Noodle. The portion was just right for a late afternoon bite, and again, unmistakably Japanese in flavour. Simple, balanced and very satisfying.
The restaurant itself wasn’t crowded, which made for a comfortable meal, and the staff were genuinely friendly.
A very pleasant accidental discovery. Highly recommended.“

“Haven't been here in years and thought I should come back with a couple of friends. Menu changed a bit and food tastes very good. The truffle wontons and mussel motoyaki was very good 👍. Everything else was good too so 👌. Price isnt very expensive so its a great place to have dinner 😀.“

“Loved every minute of our dining experience here! The aromas upon entering this wee spot got us excited, the welcoming staff were lovely, and then...the food. We ordered Omakase C - Cofu and were delighted! The presentation is artful, but not fussily so. The flavours were layered and subtle so every ingredient could be tasted. Our favourite was the salmon sushi (we ordered an extra 8 pieces!), rich, decadent and delish, especially with the Cilantro Cucumber sauce. We tried the Restore and Elevate mushroom tinctures on the rocks; unexpected flavours, but they grew on us paired with the food and a little ice melt dilution. We will go back time and again to try everything on the menu. Highly recommended!“

“Delicious broth on the Pho, tasty Maki rolls, and great service. We stopped in because it was right there, and do not regret it at all! I ordered the house noodles, a pho with beef slices and beef balls, and my husband ordered Maki rolls. She brought an extra bowl, in case I wanted to share my noodle soup, which I did, because the broth was go good. And inexpensive, a plus. It's a little whole in the wall, but clean and a good number of tables.“

“We stopped in to try the Everything Bowl. It did NOT disappoint. The flavors were amazing with beef, bok chop, wontons, and the most perfect noodles! We sat outside in the sun. Devin, the owner, was so nice and even told us some other favorite food places of his to try later in the day.“

“Argo Burger topped with bacon, cheese, fried onions and egg is served alongside a mound of fries. Delicious, whether eaten hot or cold. Fried chicken burger is one of the best in town. Fish and chips came with equal amounts of both, which translates into lots. Creamy Chicken chili con queso and heaping plateful of Spicy lamb on their respective beds of rice were stick-to-your-bones good. Then there's the home-baked pie and the OMG butter tart! If you're searching for comfort food with a serving of easy hospitality, this old-school Mount Pleasant diner is where you'll find it. #EastVanLoveRules“

“PROS:Have really on tried the spicy beef noodle soup, bbq pork fried rice, duck fried rice, and spicy won tons. They all have been tasty or satisfactory. No complaints in the taste department from me.CONS:I used to eat here twice a week at least when they had the 10% off when ordering online, but since the removal, I have eaten there a few times since last year.The price is similar to restaurant food, so a bit expensive considering it is food court food. Maybe this is due to the addition of the "free" drink. Maybe it is now due to the cost of food.The "free" drink included with some of the items should be removed. One reason is because of the cup fee in Vancouver. The other is that I don't care much for the drinks. Choice would be nice and hopefully will reduce the price of the meal and reduce unnecessary waste.“

“Very friendly staff, I got there as they opened for their lunch service. The salad was fresh and delicious, perfectly dressed. The waitress, Cassandra recommended the sticky rice stuffed chicken option. And it was fantastic. For someone that's never eaten anything like this before. They explained that chi is the word for chicken and mi is the word for rice. Which is what the wing is stuffed with. 10/10 would recommend this place.“

“Not a good experience! We ordered 2 main courses 1 duck 1 chicken The duck dish was half cooked, the toppings around were not tasty at all. The chicken dish came uncooked! We returned the dishes to the waitress immediately, we were shocked that this is the food served. When the bill arrived, The restaurant asked to charge us for both dishes full price, We refused! After a short conversation they said they would give us a 10 percent discount, We also refused! We returned an entire dish to the kitchen and the second dish we barely touched ... in the end we only paid for the drink and the duck dish. “I used to live in Vancouver but moved away years ago. I always loved Toko and would eat here when I visited. I’m heartbroken they have closed their restaurant. I walked in today after being away about 3 years. They are still there making noodles but no yummy restaurant anymore. They were very nice and told me they closed to the public during Covid. I hope the restaurant comes back!“

“First night in Vancouver and this was our first dinner — cannot be happier! We ordered these two dishes, baked rice and fried prawns and it was so flavorful which got me wanting to order more. They were very big portions so we didn’t get to and I wish we were staying in Vancouver longer cause I’d definitely come back. My family is from Hong Kong so I know what’s considered good HK food. The restaurant was empty but don’t let that fool you into thinking the food is not good. The chef, who is the owner, shared that the neighborhood in general has been pretty dead the past year hence the emptiness on a given night but I can say the food is amazing and the service is just as great. The waiter was attentive and so was the chef. He offered other options of making the prawns for us which was nice. He also engaged with us and was super friendly. All in all, great experience, great food and will definitely be coming back here when I visit again!“

“We had such a great meal here! 😊 We ordered the soft tofu soup, spicy pork bulgogi, and galbi-tang, and everything was absolutely delicious.
The food was fresh, flavorful, and comforting, and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back!

“For anyone missing the old Honolulu Cafe on Kingsway near Joyce, this is basically it! Angel Cake Cafe features the exact same front staff, same kitchen team, and an almost identical menu offering an excellent selection of classic HK cafe-style dishes. The venue has tons of seating, and parking is super convenient with metered spots on Fraser, paid parking behind the building, or free street parking nearby.
A must-try specialty here that you won't easily find elsewhere is their sauce served in a baked bread bowl—it's like a massive block of bread filled with delicious goodness! You can choose between Baked A La Chicken, Baked Curry Chicken, or Baked Curry Beef Brisket. Highly recommend checking them out if you want great HK cafe comfort food!“

“Food was great. Good portions and taste was good. Owners were very friendly. Hot sauce is actually hot which I was happy to see.
My only complaint is don’t pay them in USD use a credit card. They don’t use any type of exchange rate. My total was $57 and some change in CAD and I handed them $60 USD and he gave me $2 and change back in USD. I didn’t feel quite as bad since they gave us some Prawns for “free” but definitely was $15 difference in CAD and USD“

“This was the best meal Ive had in Vancouver as an Aussie traveller. I had the Tom Goong and my very fussy Chinese husband had the duck and even he was impressed. I am a coeliac and they were able to cater for my gluten free diet no problems. What a little gem of a place.“
