“One of the best Vietnamese restaurants I’ve personally tried, globally. Authentic Hanoi (Northern) food. Great bun cha, bun dau mam tom! Great service, big portions, felt just like home. Would revisit multiple times if I ever visited Vancouver again.
P.S I was born and raised in Hanoi, Vietnam.“

“One of my favourite pho places downtown. Close to my work, super fast service, and massive portions for a good price. Often visit for sit down lunches, but it can be busy at peak lunch hour. Also frequently drop in for take-out Vietnamese coffee.“

“The food and drink was absolutely delicious when I went with my friend and partner. We ordered mango sticky rice, cauliflower wings and lychee/peach iced tea. On a hot summer day, it hit the spot so good. We also ordered some noodle dishes whuch were delicuous to devour on the go, though they were soupier than we thought. Our waitress was very kind, welcoming and accomodating, though also loud and people pleasing, which can come across as a bit much for some. Our group was fine with it though. We went in for a quick bite and got exactly what we needed. The atmosphere was beautiful and homey, separating us in a calmer bubble from the busy Vancouver streets.“

“We were trying to go to the PhoGoodness next door and bewilderingly they close at 8pm. So as we were famished we found a Vietnamese restaurant right next door. We were blown away how rich and authentic their food tasted. The salad rolls, spring rolls and banh mi were amazing. One criticism would be the combo portions were a bit small. I am intrigued by how good their food was and will be back to try their other pho!“

“Chau Cafe has been a popular vegetarian spot in my neighbourhood for years, and I can't believe I forgot about it. I hadn't been back in a long time, so I decided to stop by yesterday.
The first thing I noticed was how clean and organized the restaurant is. They have a self-serve station stocked with water, utensils, napkins, and takeout containers. This is such a thoughtful touch and makes it so convenient.
Yesterday, I ordered the Namaste Fresh Rolls, and they were absolutely incredible. There were fresh, and the peanut sauce was perfect. Honestly, I could have eaten several of them! I also had the Rickshaw Bowl, which was packed with flavour. To drink, I tried their signature coconut shake, and as someone who's a sucker for anything coconut, it did not disappoint. Before leaving, I also picked up a pint of their Vietnamese Coffee ice cream (still in my freezer)! If you're a peanut butter lover, you have to get their dark chocolate peanut butter. It was amazing!
I enjoyed yesterday so much that I came back today for dinner. This time I ordered their famous Golden Temple Soup with noodles and organic tofu, along with the Sunrise Fresh Rolls. The soup lived up to the hype. The curry broth was rich, comforting, and full of flavour. The noodles had the perfect texture and the organic tofu was excellent. And once again, their fresh rolls were fantastic!
Before I left, I had the chance to chat with the owner, who was incredibly kind and friendly. She shared a little about the business, and it was clear how much care and passion goes into the restaurant. I genuinely wish them continued success.“

“When it comes to comfort food Kim Son became an instant classic the moment I took a bite. I ate with a big group and everyone’s food and drinks were so well done and delicious. The menu is small yet curated so whatever you decide will sure quench your thirst for authentic viet food. Don’t let the location of it being in a food court fool you, the food is definitely restaurant quality.
When it comes to authentic viet food who does it better than a mom and pop shop selling food they have been refining for years. This is for sure a recommendation I would give to anyone looking for a hearty meal that leaves you satisfied :)
Thank you Kim Son for the amazing food! We will be back“

“This is one of the few restaurants that has been approved by my harsh critic Viet mom 😭 Sucha cute vibe here and super clean (my mom is also a clean freak). Highly recommend and we will definitely return to try more items from their menu. The crab spring roll is a must!“

“Had the Pho Satay. Pretty on point. Generous amount of noodles that were cooked al dente. Been to a few pho restaurants where the noodles just break up apart, but not here. Would I have liked more rare beef? Perhaps. Maybe a little bit more basil...I only say this because it is at the $21 total price not including tip. The broth is phenomenal - the peanut spice mixture into the beef broth is top tier! The balance is just perfect. The flavour alone would probably make you think twice about going to a Japanese ramen spot and I'm a die hard ramen fan.
Service is excellent. I should probably add that it's refreshing to know that there is a restaurant that doesn't serve tap water. This place actually has CLEAN PURIFIED WATER. It makes a big difference for me anyways.
Chill vibes and cool atmosphere. Nothing to complain.“

“I came here for the second time with my boyfriend, who is Vietnamese, so I knew I was getting a more honest opinion than usual. I personally don’t always connect easily with Asian food because the flavours are sometimes very different from what I’m used to, but this place honestly surprised me in a good way.
We ordered grilled meat dishes with rice, salad, dipping sauce, and soup on the side. The food looked simple at first, but the flavour was really satisfying. The grilled chicken was juicy, well seasoned, and had a nice smoky char without being too dry or heavy. The rice was fresh, the vegetables made the plate feel lighter, and the sauce added a sweet and savoury balance that worked really well with the meat.
What I liked most was that the food felt homemade and comforting, not overly complicated.“

“Hai Chi Em in Vancouver serves up really good Vietnamese cuisine. Tried their beef rib pho, pomelo salad, chicken wings, mini pancakes, salad roll and chicken vermicelli noodles.
Food was really good, salad tasted fresh and that chili oil has a kick to it.
Definitely try if you’re craving Vietnamese food.“

“Edit: 6 years ago their bun bo hue was one of the best in the city. I just tried it again and now it is just average. All the chopped spices are gone and the broth taste bland. I have to change my rating from 5/5 to 3.5/5
I love their bun bo hue. It's the best bun bo hue I've had in Vancouver. The broth is full of finely chopped herbs and spices floating on top that I don't see in most other Vietnamese restaurants. Their pho with lemongrass grilled chicken is delicious as well. Their grilled beef skewer is amazing and I love that you can order a single skewer as a side instead of a full dish. Lastly, this is kind of a silly thing to say but they make beautiful and perfect sunny side up eggs.“

“Good Thief brings elegant, moody Vietnamese inspired design to Main Street, every detail considered without tipping into try hard. Service is first class, sharp and attentive all night 🥂
Food backs up the drinks well. The prawn toast was properly tasty, and the hot chips were soft, fluffy and delightful, simple plates done with care 🍤
Cocktails are the real standout though, inventive and playful without losing balance, properly delicious drinks that show real thought behind the bar. A fast favourite 🍸“

“Tried this place (Langley) recently and it was so good! Best banh mi I’ve had in a long time, really quick service and lots of food for the value. Definitely recommend!“

“House special banh mi was good, bread is good texture and there was enough filling.
The Bo kho was okay. I was expecting something more savory or having more tomato flavor or spices. The rice noodles were a bit overcooked as well. I like the thick consistency of the stew though.
I’m not Vietnamese so maybe everything I’m saying is invalid 😅“

“Our server was a nice gentleman who was running everything front of house. I did read there was a long wait so I was prepared but our food came out fairly quickly! I came for the banh canh cua and it did not disappoint. The noodles had a perfect bounce and the broth was slightly sweet but flavourful. Real crab pieces, sliced pork pieces, pork blood and fish cakes. I wasn't too fond of the fish cakes but overall it was a very good bowl of noodles. They also had a side of pickled veggies that were good. The restaurant was clean but it could use an update in the interior. It was dark and depressing inside...“

“Loooove their matcha latte and coconut matcha. It’s still hard to find a good matcha latte in Vancouver, so I’m really impressed that they use ceremonial-grade matcha at such an affordable price. The only downside is that they don’t offer decaf coffee beans, so I can’t really try a variety of their coffee menu items in the afternoon. Anyway, thank you so much for the great quality drinks 🙏“

“Fantastic food. Had rare beef pho and shrimp salad roll here for my first visit 2 weeks ago and then again spring roll and shrimp salad roll again this week. Both meals were delicious.
Very fresh, tasty ingredients and the staff were so friendly each time (dealt with different people each time)
Prices may seem a bit high, but the portions are huge!
This place is super popular for lunch so, I usually avoid 12-1pm if I can.
Definitely will be coming back again and I’ve already recommended to several people in person.“

“servers were always very nice! Food is a little bit limited for people who might be looking for some more Vietnam dishes. The only main dish they have for Vietnamese is Pho Bo, I'm excited to see if they have something new coming soon. Atmosphere is good but the chairs are not very comfortable.. went 3 times my butt all felt a bit hurt afte 1 hour of sitting, because the chair is hard... My family also felt this way. their washrooms have stairs but they have elevator for it which I thought was very thoughtful.“

“Light light light! Had the Bun Rieu and Bun Cha Ca Dac Biet. Both were very light. The Bun Cha was very dilly which made for a very different flavour than the go to bite flavours. Pretty unique. The Bun Rieu was good. Very light compared to the bun Rieu I’m used to. Solid. The crab meat were more shredded than in meatballs. I prefer the meatball form.
Overall a nice experience. If you prefer a lighter broth then come here. Service was good. It was very busy when we went.“

“Hidden Gem💎! Now, this is not gourmet food or upscale dining but it is very special, down to earth, and a great place to have a simple but delicious warming bowl of pho. Home cooked mom and pop shop vibes. Tried their Pho Dac Biet and their broth is delicious yet simple. It is fragrant but not too salty and something that would be perfect for when you are sick in place of chicken noodle soup. The broth does not leave you thirsty but instead tastes very natural and healthy. I was able to order my rare beef on the side to dip in the broth to cook to my own preference and their meat quality was excellent. Tender, juicy beef. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are great. A comforting and nourishing meal.“

“First time eating here. Got the pho dac biet and it was a 1 size bowl smaller than most place. However, it was packed with meat and price was under $16. I loved the pickled garlic jar they provided 😋. Now I have another place to go for future business meetings 😀.“

“Had been hearing about Phnom Penh for years and finally made it after watching a FIFA World Cup match at BC Place nearby. Came with a group of four and waited about 25 minutes — completely reasonable for a popular spot like this.
The food lived up to every bit of the hype. The chicken wings are a must-order, now I understand why everyone raves about them. The lemongrass pork was a standout dish that we’d definitely come back for.
Overall a great experience and worth the wait.“

“I was thoroughly impressed with the pho broth, it has been awhile since I’ve had such authentic flavour. The portion is very generous and having pickled spicy garlic was just an extra special experience. The staff were good, what was quite endearing was one young man saw me packaging my own takeaway and offered to put Saran Wrap to make sure it didn’t leak. I was initially drawn to this restaurant as they offered a new menu with clam congee and pate sticky rice - while advertised outside, it wasn’t shown inside. Plenty of seating in front with also a backroom, clean, friendly staff, complimentary iced tea, and easily can pay via card. (Noticed menu varies from other franchises but I guess that is what makes each location unique)“

“Went to Pho & Roll for a work lunch with my team and really enjoyed it!
It’s a bit pricier than some other Vietnamese restaurants, but the food is tasty and the portions are generous. They also provide three optional spicy sauces and pickled garlic so you can customize the flavour to your liking.
I had the Bun Cha, and it was excellent. The fish sauce had great flavour, and the spring rolls added a delicious crunch and texture to the dish. I’d happily Pho & Roll again!“
