“The food was really good (served very quickly, amazing flavour, great temperature, generous portions) and the service was fantastic. Our server served us perfectly, listening to our wants and needs, quickly attending to them, and anticipating them as well. Perfect table placement, respectful, kind, and genuinely friendly. We got the large size for noodles and the spring roll came with 4 pieces, but we ate 3 before taking the picture. The food is so good and so healthy. You can eat so much here and it makes you feel good! We’re excited to come back as soon as we can :)“

“Theres only 1 server at that time we came at their restaurant, we didn’t get the essential stuff we need right away. Also, we didnt get the milk tea, but it was ticked off from the bill. Food was great, taste authentic, specially their Pho and spring rolls. One thing about their chowmein, its too sweet.“

“Very small restaurant but charming. The chicken pho broth and noodles (i could tell the latter was freshly-made) were both good. Broth had a great flavour but i could tell it was mostly the meat doing the heavy lifting.
The quality of the chicken was not that great... kind of chewy and stringy. If the other elements like the noodles and broth went as great, it'd be a 3 star or below.
Salad rolls were generous but lacked veggies. Great vermicelli noodles and decently good sauce as well.“

“The broth was so light and aromatic and with such a delicate flavour. It was a nice change of pace from all the salty stuff I had been eating lately. For only 12 dollars is an absolute value. I need to come back later and try some other stuff!“

“My friend and I were headed home from Whistler, and were tired of driving. It was dark, and we needed to find a great bowl of Pho. What we found at Pho Spot was even better than imagined. I had a vegan pho with added tofu, and he had traditional chicken, Pho Ga. Both were delicious and plentiful; veggies a plenty, and the strips of chicken were tender and fresh. The staff were very very friendly and gracious. We will remember to come here after every hike; in any season, and I will remember to bring my friends!“

“Got a free spring roll for this review.
Honestly super good, spring roll was hot and fresh and crispy and had good flavor.
Got a braised pork belly thing I don't often see at Vietnamese places and it was also really good. Rice was done well“

“PLEASE get the special b&d chicken rice TRUST ME it is the most satisfying and delicious rice dish you will have in vancouver. the skin is so crispy, crunchy, and flavourful it’s bAsically like fried chicken . pairing the hot, juicy chicken with their hoisin sauce — which is a bit sweeter, a bit brighter than other ones i’ve had — was actually life-changing and transcendent. the absolute flavour bomb of the chicken leg is complemented with the most warm, aromatic, fragrant, mildly-flavoured yet rich-tasting chicken rice and a perfectly (well done) fried egg.
the honey chicken on the summer special menu had a sweet glaze , a slight lemongrass-y freshness in the aftertaste, and a spicy green chili sauce . it was good, but there were wayyyyy too many bones and it was too difficult to get to the meat. the pandan sticky rice was quite dense, chewy, and not too flavourful, but so addicting and the perfect pairing to the chicken.
the salted egg yolk prawns were just meh to me; although the egg yolk paste was unique, the shell was a tad too burnt to a crisp and the seafood flavour was a bit much for me.
we also tried two of their desserts: the banana cake was warm and nutty with a deep, natural banana flavour, while the cassava cake kind of reminded me of shredded coconut with its light sweetness combined with an almost mochi-like, bouncy, chewy texture.
also the interior is unexpectedly nice, clean, and modern. i really liked the vibe !“

“One of the best Vietnamese restaurants I’ve personally tried, globally. Authentic Hanoi (Northern) food. Great bun cha, bun dau mam tom! Great service, big portions, felt just like home. Would revisit multiple times if I ever visited Vancouver again.

“Nam Vegan Express is a fantastic choice if you're looking for delicious vegetarian food. The staff are incredibly kind, welcoming, and generous, making every visit a pleasant experience. My favorite menu items are the fresh salad rolls, flavorful pho, and the V-BBQ chicken bites. Their tea is excellent as well and pairs perfectly with the meal. I highly recommend Nam Vegan Express for either lunch or dinner—you won't be disappointed.“

“I came here 2x in one day 😂 I had a pho soup with beef and some chicken skewers. The pho was delicious and the chicken was way bigger than expected. The chicken also comes with pickled carrots and radish and it’s so good, I even asked to take some of that to go. I came back later to have a chicken bahnmi sandwich and shrimp roll (and more picked carrot and radish) 😂 the servers were very sweet and were very helpful. Thank you ❤“

“The food and drink was absolutely delicious when I went with my friend and partner. We ordered mango sticky rice, cauliflower wings and lychee/peach iced tea. On a hot summer day, it hit the spot so good. We also ordered some noodle dishes whuch were delicuous to devour on the go, though they were soupier than we thought. Our waitress was very kind, welcoming and accomodating, though also loud and people pleasing, which can come across as a bit much for some. Our group was fine with it though. We went in for a quick bite and got exactly what we needed. The atmosphere was beautiful and homey, separating us in a calmer bubble from the busy Vancouver streets.“

“Chau Cafe has been a popular vegetarian spot in my neighbourhood for years, and I can't believe I forgot about it. I hadn't been back in a long time, so I decided to stop by yesterday.
The first thing I noticed was how clean and organized the restaurant is. They have a self-serve station stocked with water, utensils, napkins, and takeout containers. This is such a thoughtful touch and makes it so convenient.
Yesterday, I ordered the Namaste Fresh Rolls, and they were absolutely incredible. There were fresh, and the peanut sauce was perfect. Honestly, I could have eaten several of them! I also had the Rickshaw Bowl, which was packed with flavour. To drink, I tried their signature coconut shake, and as someone who's a sucker for anything coconut, it did not disappoint. Before leaving, I also picked up a pint of their Vietnamese Coffee ice cream (still in my freezer)! If you're a peanut butter lover, you have to get their dark chocolate peanut butter. It was amazing!
I enjoyed yesterday so much that I came back today for dinner. This time I ordered their famous Golden Temple Soup with noodles and organic tofu, along with the Sunrise Fresh Rolls. The soup lived up to the hype. The curry broth was rich, comforting, and full of flavour. The noodles had the perfect texture and the organic tofu was excellent. And once again, their fresh rolls were fantastic!
Before I left, I had the chance to chat with the owner, who was incredibly kind and friendly. She shared a little about the business, and it was clear how much care and passion goes into the restaurant. I genuinely wish them continued success.“

“When it comes to comfort food Kim Son became an instant classic the moment I took a bite. I ate with a big group and everyone’s food and drinks were so well done and delicious. The menu is small yet curated so whatever you decide will sure quench your thirst for authentic viet food. Don’t let the location of it being in a food court fool you, the food is definitely restaurant quality.
When it comes to authentic viet food who does it better than a mom and pop shop selling food they have been refining for years. This is for sure a recommendation I would give to anyone looking for a hearty meal that leaves you satisfied :)
Thank you Kim Son for the amazing food! We will be back“

“Absolutely one of the best pho places in Vancouver. Choosing between the satay and the regular pho is one of the hardest decisions you’ll make because they’re both too good to pass up. I’m a regular, with high expectations, and have never been disappointed.“

“I came here for the second time with my boyfriend, who is Vietnamese, so I knew I was getting a more honest opinion than usual. I personally don’t always connect easily with Asian food because the flavours are sometimes very different from what I’m used to, but this place honestly surprised me in a good way.
We ordered grilled meat dishes with rice, salad, dipping sauce, and soup on the side. The food looked simple at first, but the flavour was really satisfying. The grilled chicken was juicy, well seasoned, and had a nice smoky char without being too dry or heavy. The rice was fresh, the vegetables made the plate feel lighter, and the sauce added a sweet and savoury balance that worked really well with the meat.
What I liked most was that the food felt homemade and comforting, not overly complicated.“

“We often come here with the kids and grandma. We always sit at table 15. The service is great, the staff are so friendly to us and the kids. They always accomodate our needs and come by often to check on how you're doing.

“This place is nostalgic for me, and you've gotta love the name. Came here one afternoon with my husband and we loved our experience so much, we brought the kids for dinner! Staff are super friendly and kind. Food is fresh, and portion sizes are very generous. Prices are reasonable considering the increasing cost of food these days. The hubby usually always drowns his soup in hoisin and hot sauce but did not do that in his pho because the soup is so flavourful, and you can taste the hours of simmering! Great family run spot in East Van!“

“Hai Chi Em in Vancouver serves up really good Vietnamese cuisine. Tried their beef rib pho, pomelo salad, chicken wings, mini pancakes, salad roll and chicken vermicelli noodles.

“This pho restaurant may look a bit aged, but it is clean, tidy, and well-maintained. The dining area is spacious, with comfortable seating that makes it a pleasant place to enjoy a relaxed meal.
We ordered a beef pho, grilled pork chop on rice, spring rolls, and an iced Vietnamese coffee. Every dish was served fresh, hot, and made to order, which really enhanced the overall experience.
The pho broth was rich and flavorful, with a deep, comforting taste that stood out. The grilled pork chop was well-marinated, juicy, and nicely charred, making it very satisfying. The spring rolls were crispy and freshly fried, adding a nice contrast in texture. The Vietnamese iced coffee was also well-prepared, strong, and smooth, rounding out the meal nicely.
Overall, this restaurant delivers solid and reliable Vietnamese comfort food in a comfortable setting. It may not be modern in appearance, but the quality of the food speaks for itself. Definitely a place we would drop by again.“

“I visited Pho Maxima Restaurant because I had been craving authentic Vietnamese food, and it was a great choice. The moment I walked in, I noticed it was a small and casual place, not fancy but very welcoming. The vibe felt like a neighbourhood favourite where locals come back again and again.
I ordered a bowl of pho with beef brisket and rice noodles, and it was rich and comforting. The broth was fragrant with warm notes of star anise and cinnamon, and it hit the spot on a chilly day. The noodles were cooked well and there was a generous amount in the bowl.“

“It’s mostly vegan with 3 non-vegan items specifically marked as Non-Vegan. Alas, HappyCow won’t let me give 5 stars for that reason. Tried the Vegan Chicken Salad roll, which was satisfying & healthy. Also sampled the Vegan Citrus Spare Rib Baguette, which was satisfying too (4/5) They should get credit for making their marinated vegan proteins in-house. We love supporting family-owned vegan-forward establishments, especially in busy tourist areas! Updated from previous review on 2026-04-05“
