“I visited Pho Maxima Restaurant because I had been craving authentic Vietnamese food, and it was a great choice. The moment I walked in, I noticed it was a small and casual place, not fancy but very welcoming. The vibe felt like a neighbourhood favourite where locals come back again and again.

I ordered a bowl of pho with beef brisket and rice noodles, and it was rich and comforting. The broth was fragrant with warm notes of star anise and cinnamon, and it hit the spot on a chilly day. The noodles were cooked well and there was a generous amount in the bowl.“

“Pho Ace is so good!! It’s our favourite Vietnamese restaurant. Food is consistently delicious, their Pho is really good . This last time we ordered Grilled lemongrass Chicken & Pork and Grilled lemongrass Pork & Spring rolls(pictured ) Service is excellent, the server checked in several times, lots of quality checks and very polite. The AC is delightful.

“When I lived in Edmonton, there was a restaurant that made a spicy lemongrass chicken dish that I ordered regularly. Yet, since I moved to BC, I haven't found anyone who has that particular dish on the menu. Finally, I did some research, and Google told me the dish was called Gà xào sả ớt. Since I was next to Pho Chan today, I took the risk and asked if they could make it.... and they did! Just special for me! And it was sooo perfect! Just as I remember! My highest compliments to the chef! Thank you for bringing this wonderful flavour back to me! I apologize if everyone asks you for it now. 🙏😁“

“This is my go to don't feel like cooking place. Great when it's hot or cold as they have a nice selection of choices for hot weather or something to warm you up on a rainy day. Either way the food is consistently good and the prices are reasonable. As long as nothing changes, it's practically perfect!“

Got a braised pork belly thing I don't often see at Vietnamese places and it was also really good. Rice was done well“

“PLEASE get the special b&d chicken rice TRUST ME it is the most satisfying and delicious rice dish you will have in vancouver. the skin is so crispy, crunchy, and flavourful it’s bAsically like fried chicken . pairing the hot, juicy chicken with their hoisin sauce — which is a bit sweeter, a bit brighter than other ones i’ve had — was actually life-changing and transcendent. the absolute flavour bomb of the chicken leg is complemented with the most warm, aromatic, fragrant, mildly-flavoured yet rich-tasting chicken rice and a perfectly (well done) fried egg.

the honey chicken on the summer special menu had a sweet glaze , a slight lemongrass-y freshness in the aftertaste, and a spicy green chili sauce . it was good, but there were wayyyyy too many bones and it was too difficult to get to the meat. the pandan sticky rice was quite dense, chewy, and not too flavourful, but so addicting and the perfect pairing to the chicken.

the salted egg yolk prawns were just meh to me; although the egg yolk paste was unique, the shell was a tad too burnt to a crisp and the seafood flavour was a bit much for me.

we also tried two of their desserts: the banana cake was warm and nutty with a deep, natural banana flavour, while the cassava cake kind of reminded me of shredded coconut with its light sweetness combined with an almost mochi-like, bouncy, chewy texture.

also the interior is unexpectedly nice, clean, and modern. i really liked the vibe !“

“Edit: 6 years ago their bun bo hue was one of the best in the city. I just tried it again and now it is just average. All the chopped spices are gone and the broth taste bland. I have to change my rating from 5/5 to 3.5/5

I love their bun bo hue. It's the best bun bo hue I've had in Vancouver. The broth is full of finely chopped herbs and spices floating on top that I don't see in most other Vietnamese restaurants. Their pho with lemongrass grilled chicken is delicious as well. Their grilled beef skewer is amazing and I love that you can order a single skewer as a side instead of a full dish. Lastly, this is kind of a silly thing to say but they make beautiful and perfect sunny side up eggs.“

First visit I went with the beef rib pho. The protein to noodle ratio was exactly what you want, you're not just digging through broth hoping to find something underneath. My wife had the banh mi and she's had a lot of banh mi. She said it was one of the best she's ever had. Perfect crunch on the outside, soft and fluffy inside. We also tried the salted lemon drink which was incredibly refreshing, definitely add it to your order.

Enjoyed it so much we came back the same evening. I went for the beef ribs this time, generous portion and cooked perfectly. Tender without being dry, which most places honestly can't pull off.

We also got to meet the owner and her daughter. Super kind, warm, great energy. You can feel the care they put into this place.

Family owned restaurants like this deserve all the love. We'll be back for sure.“

Get their ‘special’ menu items, it’s genuinely a big cut above standard phó/vermicelli. Had number 37, I’m gonna come back and get it every time (I’m that kind of person). The portion wasn’t big but the amount of meat was generous for the size and the flavour was excellent. Well balanced and spiced and will plenty of veggies to put in as well as garlic and thai chillies on the side. Not greasy, not too salty.
It’s chill in here, I like the decor and the staff are friendly. They give you a good sized pot of tea and in general aren’t going to check up much but that’s okay with me.“

“Saw these guys has a $9 Banh Mi, so I thought I’d stop in for a quick lunch.

Crispy French bread, sweet meat, can’t complain too much for $9 these days. But I will. It could have just used a lil bit more of everything, not asking a lot more, just a bit.

The server was polite and service was quick.

Atmosphere was cozy, quiet and everything I’d expect from a local mom & pop shop.

“This is strictly a take out place. We got two different bahn mi sandwiches and the sugarcane juice. So good. A lot of people came for pickups, so i'll order ahead next time. But the bread was soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The meat and ingredients were fresh and well balanced. The place was clean and they sold frozen food too.“

When I walked in I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was inside. When you compare to other nearby Pho restaurants, this almost fancy haha! It's clean and well-maintained. I ordered a chicken salad roll and a number 3, beef pho with steak and brisket. The broth was clean, tasty and not even slightly greasy. The bowl full.. I couldn't finish all the noodles, but I did eat all the beef and I'm stuffed. The portion of meat was very generous! I was so full of soup, I didn't get to eat very much of the salad roll but the one bite I had was fantastic and the rest is coming home for lunch tomorrow. The waiter was fast and friendly. I like this place and I think its my new go-to spot. Oh ya, I almost forgot, when I went to pay.. it was about $10 less than I thought it was going to be.“

“This is by far the best Vietnamese restaurant I’ve been to in the lower mainland. The service was excellent, within 10 minutes of being seated we ordered and were served our bowls. The portions was sizeable and filling, definitely worth the price. The ambiance of the restaurant was also beautiful. I recommend anyone who’s got a hankering for a good hot bowl of pho to come here. “yummm my parents were craving bun mam so we came out here to give it a try! i got the sour soup with caramelized pork- the rice was amazingly fluffy, sour soup was super good and caramelized pork was sooo crispy and nice. smelled like a dream.

“My go-to spot in Surrey for authentic, richly flavoured Bun Bo Hue. They don’t put a ton of oily red satay in there causing it to be too spicy without a deeper flavour but there is just the perfect level of spice; you just have to experience it to know what I’m talking about. The pork blood and pork hock make it all the more authentically homestyle.“

“Overall decent bahn mi, I got tofu and veg. The tofu couldnt have been any less seasoned. I'd imagine it came straight from the pack and sliced and put on. The rest of the sandwich was ok, veg was fresh and good so this saved the plain tofu.

Chicken, and pork and spring roll vermicelli bowl was gigantic. It was good, but is so huge that can feed 2 people.
And is expensive $21.95. I meant u made it so big, 2 person ended up only ordering 1 bowl. If just eating alone the bowl is too much. Why not have half order?
