“I visited Pho Maxima Restaurant because I had been craving authentic Vietnamese food, and it was a great choice. The moment I walked in, I noticed it was a small and casual place, not fancy but very welcoming. The vibe felt like a neighbourhood favourite where locals come back again and again.

I ordered a bowl of pho with beef brisket and rice noodles, and it was rich and comforting. The broth was fragrant with warm notes of star anise and cinnamon, and it hit the spot on a chilly day. The noodles were cooked well and there was a generous amount in the bowl.“

“It’s mostly vegan with 3 non-vegan items specifically marked as Non-Vegan. Alas, HappyCow won’t let me give 5 stars for that reason. Tried the Vegan Chicken Salad roll, which was satisfying & healthy. Also sampled the Vegan Citrus Spare Rib Baguette, which was satisfying too (4/5) They should get credit for making their marinated vegan proteins in-house. “Pho Ace is so good!! It’s our favourite Vietnamese restaurant. Food is consistently delicious, their Pho is really good . This last time we ordered Grilled lemongrass Chicken & Pork and Grilled lemongrass Pork & Spring rolls(pictured ) Service is excellent, the server checked in several times, lots of quality checks and very polite. The AC is delightful.

“This was only my second time eating Vietnamese food and it did not disappoint. I went for the new menu item, Shaking Beef, and it was incredible. The beef was super tender with this amazing soy-garlic-pepper glaze, and the watercress + tomato on the side balanced it out. If you like bold, flavor-full food, order this. “This is my go to don't feel like cooking place. Great when it's hot or cold as they have a nice selection of choices for hot weather or something to warm you up on a rainy day. Either way the food is consistently good and the prices are reasonable. As long as nothing changes, it's practically perfect!“

She recommended me what is the best soup here and I got the bun bo hue, she also offered us complementary tea and gave us pickled garlic, made the soup taste so much better. “Had the Pho Satay. Pretty on point. Generous amount of noodles that were cooked al dente. Been to a few pho restaurants where the noodles just break up apart, but not here. Would I have liked more rare beef? Perhaps. Maybe a little bit more basil...I only say this because it is at the $21 total price not including tip. The broth is phenomenal - the peanut spice mixture into the beef broth is top tier! The balance is just perfect. The flavour alone would probably make you think twice about going to a Japanese ramen spot and I'm a die hard ramen fan.

Service is excellent. I should probably add that it's refreshing to know that there is a restaurant that doesn't serve tap water. This place actually has CLEAN PURIFIED WATER. It makes a big difference for me anyways.

“Edit: 6 years ago their bun bo hue was one of the best in the city. I just tried it again and now it is just average. All the chopped spices are gone and the broth taste bland. I have to change my rating from 5/5 to 3.5/5

I love their bun bo hue. It's the best bun bo hue I've had in Vancouver. The broth is full of finely chopped herbs and spices floating on top that I don't see in most other Vietnamese restaurants. Their pho with lemongrass grilled chicken is delicious as well. Their grilled beef skewer is amazing and I love that you can order a single skewer as a side instead of a full dish. Lastly, this is kind of a silly thing to say but they make beautiful and perfect sunny side up eggs.“

“My husband and I stopped by because we wanted a Vietnamese coffee and I am so glad we stopped by! The staff was so kind and helpful with deciding which coffee to go with (the iced salted caramel was top tier!) She even suggested a wonderful pastry which we will be back to have again!“

“Came here twice in the same day and that should tell you everything.

First visit I went with the beef rib pho. The protein to noodle ratio was exactly what you want, you're not just digging through broth hoping to find something underneath. My wife had the banh mi and she's had a lot of banh mi. She said it was one of the best she's ever had. Perfect crunch on the outside, soft and fluffy inside. We also tried the salted lemon drink which was incredibly refreshing, definitely add it to your order.

Enjoyed it so much we came back the same evening. I went for the beef ribs this time, generous portion and cooked perfectly. Tender without being dry, which most places honestly can't pull off.

We also got to meet the owner and her daughter. Super kind, warm, great energy. You can feel the care they put into this place.

Family owned restaurants like this deserve all the love. We'll be back for sure.“

“This is strictly a take out place. We got two different bahn mi sandwiches and the sugarcane juice. So good. A lot of people came for pickups, so i'll order ahead next time. But the bread was soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The meat and ingredients were fresh and well balanced. The place was clean and they sold frozen food too.“

Get their ‘special’ menu items, it’s genuinely a big cut above standard phó/vermicelli. Had number 37, I’m gonna come back and get it every time (I’m that kind of person). The portion wasn’t big but the amount of meat was generous for the size and the flavour was excellent. Well balanced and spiced and will plenty of veggies to put in as well as garlic and thai chillies on the side. Not greasy, not too salty.
It’s chill in here, I like the decor and the staff are friendly. They give you a good sized pot of tea and in general aren’t going to check up much but that’s okay with me.“

“This is by far the best Vietnamese restaurant I’ve been to in the lower mainland. The service was excellent, within 10 minutes of being seated we ordered and were served our bowls. “yummm my parents were craving bun mam so we came out here to give it a try! i got the sour soup with caramelized pork- the rice was amazingly fluffy, sour soup was super good and caramelized pork was sooo crispy and nice. smelled like a dream.

“Overall decent bahn mi, I got tofu and veg. The tofu couldnt have been any less seasoned. I'd imagine it came straight from the pack and sliced and put on. The rest of the sandwich was ok, veg was fresh and good so this saved the plain tofu.

“I have lived in the area for YEARS and have never been here. I have no idea why.. but today I decided to give it a shot. I was not disappointed. When I walked in I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was inside. When you compare to other nearby Pho restaurants, this almost fancy haha! It's clean and well-maintained. I ordered a chicken salad roll and a number 3, beef pho with steak and brisket. The broth was clean, tasty and not even slightly greasy. The bowl full.. I couldn't finish all the noodles, but I did eat all the beef and I'm stuffed. The portion of meat was very generous! I was so full of soup, I didn't get to eat very much of the salad roll but the one bite I had was fantastic and the rest is coming home for lunch tomorrow. The waiter was fast and friendly. I like this place and I think its my new go-to spot. Oh ya, I almost forgot, when I went to pay.. it was about $10 less than I thought it was going to be.“

We’ve been on the hunt for a new-to-us phó restaurant since the 2 closest to our area closed.

This was recommended by locals and did not disappoint.
Service was prompt with tea and menus right away.
Our soups came fairly quickly, the DF chicken wings understandably a little longer.
Everything was hot as it should be, condiments in little containers (2 of each) with the sprouts, basil and sliced jalapeño.

We ordered:

#22 Mi Hoanh Thanh (Wonton w/Noodles) $22
#33 DF Chicken Wings $15.99
(Came with sweet chili sauce for dipping)
