“I don’t usually write food reviews, but Todai Sushi deserves one.
I stopped in for lunch today and ordered their lunch box. For just $17, it comes with tea, soup, and a generously portioned box — already an excellent value. What really impressed me, though, was the care and attention to detail in every item.
The teriyaki beef was freshly pan-fried, with the meat and vegetables separated so the beef sits nicely on top. It’s the first time I’ve seen a lunch box done this way, and it made a big difference. The vegetables had just the right amount of oil — flavorful but not greasy.
The California roll was a standout too. Unlike many places that pull pre-made rolls straight from the fridge, these were fresh and at a perfect temperature. The size, portion, and balance between rice and fillings were spot on.
Then there was the tempura. It was made fresh to order, with a thin, delicate batter that gave the ideal ratio of crunch to softness. The coating actually stuck to the ingredients (unlike the thick, heavy, or flaky batter I’ve had elsewhere).
I still can’t believe how much thought and quality went into a $17 lunch box. Todai Sushi is doing it right — keep up the excellent work!“

“We love this Japanese restaurant for the high food quality, high staff quality, reasonable prices in today's market & location! Today, I tried the Nigiri Lunch and loved it! My husband had the double meat chicken teriyaki and some of mine cause it looked so tasty, and it truly was scrumptious ! We started with the Crae crae roll (shared). In my Nigiri lunch, I upgraded the salmon to sockeye, one dollar more, but worth it! The miso soup was perfect for us as we watch our sodium and they only use low sodium soya sauce! The combination of food, service & cost is why they get 5 stars! Any staff we saw were very friendly & said hello & goodbye. Customer service is top notch! Aside note, their green tea is one of the best we've enjoyed, too!“

“I've tried many sushi places and Sushi Wara is definitely the best I've tried so far! Their California rolls blow everyone else's out of the water and their chicken karaage is better than dedicated chicken restaurants!
I've ordered here constantly using Uber eats and never had any problems with delivery time being long.
Also had a chance to dine in recently and the decor is amazing. Service is also impeccable!
Definitely a level above the rest and its gonna be hard for me to find something better.“

“We love this restaurant and it’s some of the best Thai food I’ve had in all of Vancouver. There are lots of gluten free options and the curries are delicious. This is the only restaurant that makes pad Thai the way I really enjoy it, very much like what I had in Thailand. The food quality is super consistent too.“

“What a phenomenal meal! My new go-to skewer place. Their seasoning is so flavourful and definitely the best I'veyl had at any skewer place. Third time here and it just gets better each time and honestly the most recent time (yesterday) was truly incredible. Every dish was 10/10. I recommend going with at least 3 people to get a good mix of stuff to share, as skewers often have minimum orders.
My skewer recommmendations: lamb, beef, pork belly, squid, gizzard, all equally good. The kitchen fried rice is also an amazing add on for some carbs. Seldom has a wait but also regularly fills up too. Tiny space, so service is easy and fast if you need anything. Casual hole-in-the-wall atmosphere with a peppa pig themed bathroom for some reason. 10/10, will continue to be my go-to skewer spot! Only complaint is don't expect a cheap meal, but this is true of all skewer places, so comparable to other spots, it's on par.“

The service was excellent. The female staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome. Definitely 5-star service.
Unfortunately, the overall dining experience was affected by the environment. There was a noticeable unpleasant smell coming from the restroom that reached the dining area, which made the atmosphere less enjoyable. I’d rate the environment 2 stars.
Overall, I enjoyed the food and appreciated the great service, but I hope the odor issue can be addressed to make the dining experience even better.“

“Haven't been to Yuu for a while and we went back last week. Price didn't go up much despite the inflation. Kids order some special drink and the staff even gave them a small ice-cream cone to top it off. Great gesture. Would definitely be going back more often.“

“A little cramped, a little dingy, a little disorganized, this restaurant will win you over not with looks but with comfort food, refreshing soda, and a kind soul.
The curry chicken is presented like an omurice with several fat chunks of chicken around it. The chicken was pleasantly soft and chewy, and went well with the curry sauce. The rice was a bit hard, but no points lost for that. I could eat it just fine with the thinly spread egg. The star of the show was actually the berry soda! Sweet but with the right amount of tanginess, and with some berry pulp at the bottom to top it off!
There was enough soda in one cup to last me two meals. It’s enough of a selling point for me to return. I usually don’t drink soda, but damn, you got to me. Thank you!“

“We made a reservation for dinner on Apr 22nd because we went the weekend before and it was 1 1/2 hour wait. The food was really good but small portions. We booked for 5:30pm and left at 8pm and not by choice. We took our 7 year old. His food came within about 20-30 minutes. While we got our miso, edamame and salad one at a time, It took over an hour to get our BBQ meat, and longer to get our bowls of rice. 2 1/2 hours to get our bill (with me stopping someone to ask for the bill). Our son was super excited to cook meat but was getting upset with all the waiting. Quite honestly, the 2 adults with him were too. But I would give it a try again because the food was good“

“As locals we have been coming here since they opened. The food is always great and the customer service good. We recently had our first subpar bowl delivered via DoorDash. “I’ve been going to the Burnaby one a lot so I thought I would try Richmond. The food is equally delicious and fresh, but the service was inconsistent and the tables are too small to fit everyone’s plates. Some servers worked super hard to get stuff for you but it was just the few who did. The others would just be standing around chatting and not paying attention. I prefer the Burnaby one because the service is good and you can order off an iPad. In Richmond you have to flag a server down to order a lot of the food which makes it even worse if you can’t get someone’s attention.“

“I’ve only had the pho here, I’m a small eater and doing low-carb, so I get it without noodles and they give me some nice fresh veggies instead. It’s perfectly seasoned every time. They advertise that they use local Canadian beef, and portions are super generous. First time I visited I told the owner it was so good and full of meat it was mooing!
It’s a comfy room with a relaxed homey vibe. Seems to be a family-run place. Service is quick and friendly. If you’re lucky the radio will be tuned to Vietnamese Jazz, which I really enjoyed.
Someday soon I am going to visit here with friends, there seems to be many special dishes on the menu. I’d like to try more but I’ve only been there on my own so far so can’t order much.“

Its layers gave a great texture, it was crispy outside and chewy inside. It was quite tasty as well.
We would come back to try its other items.
The only thing was it seemed many people just sitting in the food court occupying tables. As a result, it might be difficult to find a table available for a family.“

“Nostalgic dining room design. When you enter, you will feel you being in an upscale noodle shop ok Hong Kong in the 80's😀 if you know what this feels like.
You need to enter your car plate number on a tablet when you go in or the parking enforcement company won't recognize your car.
We ordered brisket and tendon and wonton soup noodle. Brisket and tendon as a dish is worth the price. Choi sum for $9 is a bit overpriced.
Soup noodle looks small in the tiny bowl, but the portion is more than we thought. We were all very full. It is the perfect balance or protein and carbs in the smallest bowl possible. You won't see the wontons as the chef place then beneath the noodle to ensure they stay warm longer. How they measure the portion would be a business secret.
The seasoning in the soup base and the brisket is top of the indistry. It is no accident that Max's survive the test of time (30+ years).“

The food exceeded my expectations from start to finish. Every dish was prepared with great attention to detail, and the freshness of the ingredients really stood out. The sushi was flavorful, beautifully crafted, and clearly made with care.
What made the experience even better was the excellent service. The staff were friendly, professional, and attentive without being intrusive. The restaurant had a welcoming atmosphere that made it easy to relax and enjoy the meal.
It's not often that a restaurant gets everything right, but this place certainly did. I would happily recommend it to friends and family and look forward to visiting again soon.“

“Solo weekend dinner, last time came to Redbud was before COVID, someone reminded me of this place, and it was really good.
The tomato soup was just ok, nothing stands out.
The black pepper sauce of the 2 meat combination was very flavourful, meat and veggies were good too
The baked pork chop tomato sauce rice was very flavourful too, you can actually taste the tomatoes, ketchup maybe? But I liked it.
Staff was friendly too
Overall I enjoyed it, I recommend this place for anyone who enjoys HK cafe.“

“Delicious and sizzling hot food at great prices. We had their braised eggplant with pork and braised chicken clay pot. Both made fresh and arrived very hot. Even mild spicy is pretty spicy so beware. Clay pot takes a bit of time to cook so be patient.“
