“I don’t usually write food reviews, but Todai Sushi deserves one.

I stopped in for lunch today and ordered their lunch box. For just $17, it comes with tea, soup, and a generously portioned box — already an excellent value. What really impressed me, though, was the care and attention to detail in every item.

The teriyaki beef was freshly pan-fried, with the meat and vegetables separated so the beef sits nicely on top. It’s the first time I’ve seen a lunch box done this way, and it made a big difference. The vegetables had just the right amount of oil — flavorful but not greasy.

The California roll was a standout too. Unlike many places that pull pre-made rolls straight from the fridge, these were fresh and at a perfect temperature. The size, portion, and balance between rice and fillings were spot on.

Then there was the tempura. It was made fresh to order, with a thin, delicate batter that gave the ideal ratio of crunch to softness. The coating actually stuck to the ingredients (unlike the thick, heavy, or flaky batter I’ve had elsewhere).

I still can’t believe how much thought and quality went into a $17 lunch box. Todai Sushi is doing it right — keep up the excellent work!“

“We love this Japanese restaurant for the high food quality, high staff quality, reasonable prices in today's market & location! Today, I tried the Nigiri Lunch and loved it! My husband had the double meat chicken teriyaki and some of mine cause it looked so tasty, and it truly was scrumptious ! We started with the Crae crae roll (shared). In my Nigiri lunch, I upgraded the salmon to sockeye, one dollar more, but worth it! The miso soup was perfect for us as we watch our sodium and they only use low sodium soya sauce! The combination of food, service & cost is why they get 5 stars! Any staff we saw were very friendly & said hello & goodbye. Customer service is top notch! Aside note, their green tea is one of the best we've enjoyed, too!“

“I've tried many sushi places and Sushi Wara is definitely the best I've tried so far! Their California rolls blow everyone else's out of the water and their chicken karaage is better than dedicated chicken restaurants!

I've ordered here constantly using Uber eats and never had any problems with delivery time being long.

Also had a chance to dine in recently and the decor is amazing. Service is also impeccable!

“The food was really great, fresh and so tasty. The owner was delightful and friendly. However, the service was so slow that by the time the 3rd dish came out (Pad Thai) we were full and ended up taking that dish home with us. I would recommend this place if you are not in a hurry but, as they only have two people on staff and only one of them is in the kitchen, it takes time. In the meantime, they are doing takeout as well.“

“Have ordered several times from here as my son loves it. I find it inconsistent. One time I asked for mild and couldn't finish it because it was so spicy. Yet other times mild has been fine. Portions are a decent size. The guys that work there are very friendly and the place has always been super clean when I have gone in.“

“What a phenomenal meal! My new go-to skewer place. Their seasoning is so flavourful and definitely the best I'veyl had at any skewer place. Third time here and it just gets better each time and honestly the most recent time (yesterday) was truly incredible. Every dish was 10/10. I recommend going with at least 3 people to get a good mix of stuff to share, as skewers often have minimum orders.

My skewer recommmendations: lamb, beef, pork belly, squid, gizzard, all equally good. The kitchen fried rice is also an amazing add on for some carbs. Seldom has a wait but also regularly fills up too. Tiny space, so service is easy and fast if you need anything. Casual hole-in-the-wall atmosphere with a peppa pig themed bathroom for some reason. 10/10, will continue to be my go-to skewer spot! Only complaint is don't expect a cheap meal, but this is true of all skewer places, so comparable to other spots, it's on par.“

“My favorite restaurant ive been to in Richmond. The food is phenomenal, especially the signature fish on the menu. During our visit here, we've gone twice for dinner. Prices are reasonable for the quality as well. Some waiters only speak Mandarin.“

We booked for 5:30pm and left at 8pm and not by choice. We took our 7 year old. His food came within about 20-30 minutes. While we got our miso, edamame and salad one at a time, It took over an hour to get our BBQ meat, and longer to get our bowls of rice. 2 1/2 hours to get our bill (with me stopping someone to ask for the bill). Our son was super excited to cook meat but was getting upset with all the waiting. Quite honestly, the 2 adults with him were too. But I would give it a try again because the food was good“

The waitress, Cassandra recommended the sticky rice stuffed chicken option. And it was fantastic. For someone that's never eaten anything like this before. Nice neighborhood restaurant on the understated & underappreciated Fraser Street. I used to dine-in and thought the Western Style dishes on their menu were cool & unique! I've been ordering Take-out from them lately! Food is consistently good, in generous portions, and reasonably priced for the portion size. The complimentary soup and rice with the meat dish are a nice surprise! I ordered #98 on the Take-out menu for something different (Malaysian Style Fried Vermicelli), and it was very delicious! 😋 Liked them enough to have the restaurant number on speed-dial. I'm looking forward to trying more of the different dishes on their large menu. Definitely a great spot for anytime casual dining!“

“I’ve only had the pho here, I’m a small eater and doing low-carb, so I get it without noodles and they give me some nice fresh veggies instead. It’s perfectly seasoned every time. They advertise that they use local Canadian beef, and portions are super generous. First time I visited I told the owner it was so good and full of meat it was mooing!
It’s a comfy room with a relaxed homey vibe. Seems to be a family-run place. Service is quick and friendly. If you’re lucky the radio will be tuned to Vietnamese Jazz, which I really enjoyed.
Someday soon I am going to visit here with friends, there seems to be many special dishes on the menu. I’d like to try more but I’ve only been there on my own so far so can’t order much.“

You need to enter your car plate number on a tablet when you go in or the parking enforcement company won't recognize your car.

We ordered brisket and tendon and wonton soup noodle. Brisket and tendon as a dish is worth the price. Choi sum for $9 is a bit overpriced.

Soup noodle looks small in the tiny bowl, but the portion is more than we thought. We were all very full. It is the perfect balance or protein and carbs in the smallest bowl possible. You won't see the wontons as the chef place then beneath the noodle to ensure they stay warm longer. How they measure the portion would be a business secret.

The seasoning in the soup base and the brisket is top of the indistry. It is no accident that Max's survive the test of time (30+ years).“

“Solo weekend dinner, last time came to Redbud was before COVID, someone reminded me of this place, and it was really good.

The tomato soup was just ok, nothing stands out.

The black pepper sauce of the 2 meat combination was very flavourful, meat and veggies were good too

The baked pork chop tomato sauce rice was very flavourful too, you can actually taste the tomatoes, ketchup maybe? But I liked it.

Staff was friendly too
